STARRGAZER1 replied to Phil's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I seem to remember him riding for Coventry at King’s Lynn -
STARRGAZER1 started following Polish Speedway on TV

The cricket was from Sweden, Stockholm. But would still prefer watching UK club cricket.

RIP Ivan Only just back from N.Z. having visited the museum in Christchurch where the gold plated bike, world championship trophy and other items are on display. Also remember being at Katowice in 1973 when Jerzy Szczakiel got the world championship after Ivan toppled off.

Championship Fours 06/08 Peterborough
STARRGAZER1 replied to gmuncie's topic in Speedway Testimonials & Individual and Shared Events
Finished well before 7.30. Had sandwich and cup of tea whilst waiting at least 20mins for car park to clear and then after 50min drive was home well in time to watch test match highlights on Channel 5+1 at 8.00. 32 heats here today, some clubs struggle to run a 15heat league match in 2hrs. -
King's Lynn Stars 2017
STARRGAZER1 replied to Daniel Smith's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
First went to King's Lynn speedway in 1966. Moved away from the area in 1969 but still travelled 100+ miles each way for 'home' meeting. Between 1983 and 1997 went to very little speedway due to family and work commitments. Started going again regularly in 1998. Moved back to the area 16 years ago and for many years went to almost all meetings (home and away). Stopped travelling when Lynn moved to Elite League. Got disillusioned last year and did not go after July. Was optimistic that things might be better this year. Been to a few meetings this year but not happy with what we have seen. Last night was the final straw! King's Lynn speedway will get no more of my money this year. Will wait and see what happens in 2018, if British speedway still exists in its present form? Will get my fix of speedway elsewhere where I can watch proper racing and get better value for my money. -
Gave up booking hotels for speedway at least 4/5 years ago!!

King's Lynn V Belle Vue - 19 April 2017
STARRGAZER1 replied to Mimmo's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Outgated and outridden. Well done to Belle Vue. Most races over after first bend. Stopped going to Elite League mid- way through 2016 season. If this is the standard of entertainment that we are going to get at Lynn money is better kept in my pocket. Only one notable pass all night.. . Will give a couple more meetings a try. -
Why don't all clubs have the facility to buy tickets on line. Believe Belle Vue offer this at no extra cost.

Can confirm tickets purchased easily with Credit Card using Dotpay on Kup Bilet. Flights & Hotel booked and will be using Modlin Bus again (so cheap and bookable in advance, but not this far in advance). Using trams to get around Warsaw is so easy.

Have to agree with this.Often cannot hear any of the presentations or interviews. In addition do we have to put up with such loud music,it is almost impossible to talk to the person standing next to you! -
Warsaw Gp Saturday 18th April
STARRGAZER1 replied to racers and royals's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
The incident with the flag happened at 5pm well before the shambles took place inside.Having spent my hard earned cash on attending overseas gps i expect. to be able to show support for my countrys riders. The trouble with many brits is that we are not patriotic enough. After all this was an international sporting event and it looked as though only poles were there.Even Poles that we spoke to were amazed at this reestriction.Yes we go to watch a good event but like to support British sportspersons,we prefer to give support at the event not as armchair fans! Yes i am still in Warsaw and will be in Tampere next month and hope to see better. -
