Ashtree 123 you have it completely wrong it was not me and Simon arguing in the pits - and apparently using language that was not good. So I would appreciate it if you got your facts right when you are making accusations on here about people but more importantly if you must aim it at all - aim your accusations at the RIGHT people. Can someone please let me know who the photographer/s were at Saturdays meeting

First of all I must say that Bryns posting has summed the weekend up very well. Yes Team GB unfortunately did have to go with a 4 man squad but believe me those 4 boys, and I know my son is included, did their utmost to ride their best for their country. I believe it is an honour to be asked to ride and for those lads that didnt/couldnt/wouldnt step in and go to Germany i believe they should ask themselves why they are in the sport. Surely if you want to progress in the sport you sometimes have to put yourself out and help others. I know that many hours was spent on the phone trying to get a replacement for Rob Mear so it was not for the want of trying that a replacement wasn't found. It was a sleepless weekend. Simon and I and mechanic left home at 2 oclock Saturday to catch the ferry to Calais. Then we drove all through the night (NO SLEEP) to get to Abensberg. Once we got there at 8 am we were offered a quick shower and breakfast and then it was straight off to the track for practice. We were at the track most of the day, back to the hotel for a meal and early night. Next morning, check out hotel, back at the track at 8.30 am and there for the meeting. After the meeting and the van is packed about 6pm off and on the way back to calais. Drive all through the night (NO SLEEP), catch the 5am ferry and arrive home Tuesday lunchtime with 1670 miles on the clock. It was a long, tiring weekend but speaking on a personal note myself and Simon would not have missed it for anything. It was an experience for the lads to ride in front of thousands of fans, to ride for GB with a union jack on your bodyjacket for very little financial reward. I must thank Graham Reeve and especially Dave # Name Removed # for the smooth organisation and liaison with the lads. Crouch was terrific and totally dedicated to Team GB. Simon and I had a terrific weekend just sorry the GB team result wasnt better. Thank you!

Now that Boston is rained off Simon and Darcy are joining Darren and riding in this meeting. Weather is very wet here in Spalding but am assurred meeting will go ahead as weather is not as bad in that part of the country. Had a phone call just 2 minutes ago and everything is looking ok to proceed. So get yourselves to Scunthorpe and support the David Nix Memorial Meeting. Stephen Lambert

This was Simons first meeting in Poland. He rang me tonight and said how much he had enjoyed the experience and riding the large track. He was pleased to make the Final after his 6 rides. The Final was over 6 laps and he gated well to second place. He stayed in second place until the primary chain came off the bike on the 4th bend of the 5th lap. He was gutted with only 1 lap to go - but was pleased to be invited to ride and to make it into the final 4 of the meeting. Anne Lambert

Up until the time I stopped going to Lynn I was never a fan of Simon Lambert, so please don't say I'm biased, but AFAIK it was his first taste of anything on the "world/European" stage. These meetings are a different standard from the PL meeting which these riders normally ride in and I would guess that the equipment used is in many cases similarly higher. British riders tho do not get the support that the Brits do. It would be very difficult to say that Tully or Mear or any other Brit would have done any better on their first outing in this standard of meeting. They may have been brilliant, they may also have scored nothing. No one can say. Britain needs to give all British riders experience to benefit both them and the national side all the help they can. If a rider doesn't come up with a massive haul of points on their first try, it doesn't mean they never will. Lambert now has had a taste of a higher standard meeting, it will do him nothing but good. Tully and Mear's turn will come I'm sure. I just hope if they do score nothing, they are not slagged off to the same degree. ________________________________________________________________________________ ___________________ I do not usually post any comments on this forum but I do feel that after reading what people are saying on here they ought to know a few facts. In simons defence. Yes it was Simons first outing on the 'world stage' Yes these meetings are a different standard from the PL meetings Yes the equipment used in these meetings is of a higher standard Considering Simon only had 4 days notice due to Adam Roynons injury there was no time to get better engines for this big track. We stepped in at the last minute and will be at least £1000 out of pocket. Simon did not ask to be in the team but other riders were not available. I agree that that the experience has done him good and hope that the people criticising now realise the facts. Also it was a 22 hour day yesterday.

I can confirm that Simon Lambert did not manage to score points and only had 4 rides. He was replaced in his 5th ride in heat 18. I am told from Czech republic that the score was: Sweden 41 Czech Rep. 38 England 36 Russia 35 So that would make Anders post right. Hope this helps. Anne Lambert

Just to inform those fans travelling on A17 to Kings Lynn on Wednesday that there are road works at Sutton Bridge (actually on the bridge) and it is single file traffic. There are major hold ups. I think the works are in place for the next two weeks or so. Perhaps you can allow a bit extra time for your journey. Stephen Lambert
