Hold on - read my posting. I make no adverse comment about Steve - it is indeed a great achievement qualifying for the British Final after such a brief time in the sport... Well done to him and Scott and all the other qualifiers... So kindly don't put words into my mouth...

You weren't exactly lavish with your praise of the meeting  nor did you name any of the riders who qualified  I think you were being castigated for not naming the riders who were there... and saying how weak the Mildenhall qualifying round was, whilst commenting (again) on the fact that Marc Owen didn't ride  It was probably what you didn't say - rather than what you did say - about the actual meeting...

I'd like to ask why it was such strange format in every qualifier? Why some riders where riding twice against another, and against another not at all? You can make for 13 riders such heat format that everyone will meet someone exactly once!

Vicar can you send me this format

Hm... maybe it is not. I thought that I saw somewhere such, but now I can see that it is impossible.

I asked the question of Graham Reeve (SCB) at Mildenhall and he told me that a formula where each rider rode against all others meant two on the trot in every heat - not ideal and certainly wouldn't have been yesterday on Sunday!

Is there anyone going to the final who would be able to text updates to the updates site? If so, could you please either leave a message here or send me an email or pm.

Thanks

I was hoping to be there myself but things haven't worked out.

Good luck to all competitors for tonight's meeting. Here's hoping for an entertaining display of the next generation. I shall be there supporting Bren, so if anyone spots a dippy woman on the terraces jumping up and down in his races, please feel free to come and say hello. ;)

Still looking for a texter....anyone?

£4 is a bit steep for a programme. Rather than line the pockets of the BSPA I'd rather buy something from the trackshop or a pint from the bar.

Does anybody have a spreadsheet I could use please?

In the end, I had been prepared to - at least partly - give the benefit of the doubt and assume that the very odd decision to have 13-rider fields was made because in four rides a rider will ride against 12 opponents and therefore could ride against everyone else once, making it a "fair" format. The fact that over half the field qualified for the semis and you could therefore win the meeting despite being one of the worst placed riders negated that to an extent, but at least it seemed to be some concession to fairness.

However, since it appears this is not the case, I have to ask again, why have such a ridiculous format for a British Championship event? Was it purely down to costs? It's a sorry state of affairs if the need to cut costs means a British Championship isn't run fairly.

Heat 07: Re-run x2: Mear, Worrall, Baseby(F/rem)...60.6

Line Up: Newman, Worrall, Baseby, Mear

Comments: Tight 1st bend Baseby went down, up, ok and walking back to the pits, all 4 back. In re-run Mear was well in front when Newman did a pirouette on lap 2, fell and is excluded. CHK says the racing thus far has been poor, whoever makes the gate is winning and the riders are all strung out practically every race!

Heat 15: Re-run: Woffinden, Bridger, Mear...59.5

Line Up: Woffinden, Bridger, Mear, Auty

Comments: There will be a re-run without Auty who fell and is excluded. Woffinden was leading at the time. Auty was lying 3rd but on the bend 3 of lap 2, Mear went up the inside of him fairly in CHK's opinion. Auty then drifted and fell, hitting the exact same part of the fence he hit last week when riding for Coventry. CHK says it was deja vu! Re-run: At last a good race, Woffinden got it but only just although CHK thought Bridger got it!!

Line up confirmed. Crowd is poor!

After 20 qualifying heats the top 2 point scorers will go straight to the grand final. The riders finishing in 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th after the qualifiers will go into the semi final, the riders finishing 1st and 2nd in the semi final will then go on to contest the grand final.

Congratulations to JOE HAINES, the new British under 21 champion!

Thanks for watching and good night!
