  1. It has nothing to do with that at all. If Bjerre has signed for his Polish team I don't see why it should be allowed for Peterborough to "drag their heels" over making the others available when they clearly can't use them!

If they're so keen to use their assets, why are they signing riders on loan from other clubs?

Peterborough Panthers believe they have made the ideal signing by drafting in Danish ace Kenni Larsen.

The city club confirmed the capture of the highly-rated 24 year-old this morning (December 17) when he became the second member of their 2013 team.

Larsen has performed consistently for Coventry in the last two Elite League seasons when amassing a 6.57 average and joins Panthers on loan from Premier League outfit Newcastle, who are his parent club.

And Panthers bosses believe Larsen perfectly fits the bill to be a successful rider both at the East of England Showground and on the road.

Team manager Jan Staechmann said: “Kenni is exactly the kind of rider we like to have in our team.

“He is dedicated, professional, hard-working, and he is a good team man.

“I know Kenni from working with him whilst in my job with the Danish Motor Union and I have nothing but praise for the lad.

“He has come on an awful lot and made very sensible decisions during his career.

“He started out in the Premier League, where he became the league’s top rider, before moving into the Elite League with Coventry, where he has improved every year.

“Last season he managed to be a consistent all-round performer and I feel he has bags of potential. Moving to a big fast track like the East of England Showground can help his development as a rider.

“I feel he will fit in well with the team. He has good mechanical knowledge, takes pride in his equipment, is a good team-mate, good company and is not afraid to ask advice and then act upon it.”

Larsen joins Swedish star Linus Sundstrom in the Panthers ranks for next year.

The rest of their team is still under wraps although Kenneth Bjerre is hotly tipped to return as number one providing he can prove his fitness after seeing his 2012 campaign cut short by a badly broken leg.

The arrival of Larsen probably rules out a return for World Under 21 champion Michael Jepsen Jensen who is on a similar average to his fellow Dane.

Panthers are unlikely to be able to accomodate both riders in the middle order of their side due to the restrictions imposed by a 42.50 points limit for team building

Can't understand this apparent obsession with loan riders. Why do Clubs seem so reluctant to use their own assets?

  3. It's more about where they go and not sorting ourselves out first with equal or better options rather than wanting them back. I'd say Andersen would be first on most Panthers fans teams atm but I'm not so sure about Batch.

It's fine as it is as long as the exising rules are enforced but I'd add an additional clause that a club can recall any of their assets, providing that they intend to use them, up to December 31.

A lot of the assets cannot be used by the parent club because of the team-building averages limit

  4. Actually I have left school and I have got a job at Tesco

Sadly, Peterborough Speedway still haven''t replied to me about my application to become the new team manager, I sent my CV and I had references from the likes of Mark Plummer who is a highly respected journalist along with respected entrepreneurs Dick Butler and Rupert Rigsby but still no reply.

I check my post everyday, I think it must of got lost in the post or something, bloody royal mail

Keep looking for the second brain cell. It would be great to see you fulfil your ambition of becoming a plant.

  5. "If their is no Michael, I have lost all hope" - BUT HE/SHE/IT IS NOW GOING TO FOCUS ON SUPPORTING TOTTENHAM. A TRUE JJR CLASSIC...........QUOTE OF THE YEAR!!!!! :) :) :)

"He is the one rider I have built a emotional relationship with" - BUTUNFORTUNATELY FOR YOU, IT WASN'T MUTUAL, AND HAS APPARENTLY LED TO YOU BEING GIVEN A HARRASSMENT RESTRAINING ORDER

"He is not like other riders who are their just to earn money". QUITE RIGHT ON THAT ONE. HE WAS ALSO AFTER A FREE VAN AS WELL.

"He doesn't need to ride for the Panthers as he is earning tons of money over in Poland,Sweden and Denmark but he actually chooses to ride in the UK". WHEN HE ISN'T PULLING SICKIES TWO WEEKS BEFORE A MEETING YOU MEAN?

"but more importantly he chose to ride for us and he rejected tons of clubs to join us and that's why I have so much respect for him." REALLY RESPECT HIM? FOR FAILING TO TURN UP 25% OF THE TIME, DOESN'T IN REALITY GIVE A TOSS ABOUT PETERBOROUGH, AND IN ALL PROBABILITY CAN'T BE ASSED TO RETURN TO THE SHOWGROUND IN 2013?

You are a funny chap at times JJR.

I assume you are meaning "funny" not in a humourous way.

  6. If their is no Michael, I have lost all hope.

He is the one rider I have built a emotional relationship with, He is not like other riders who are their just to earn money.

    Then you woke up !

  7. Instead of Alden, They could have signed Zabik.

They dropped the ball big time there.

So says the one who apparently knows everything

Who said Niels doesn't want to ride for the Panthers?

Did Niels say it himself or was it more garbage from the Lynn promotion?

Was it from Rob "Im going to quit" Lyon?

Iversen is good friends with Swales and Frost so I can tell you now that the Lynn promotion are lying, The Panthers probably don't even want to use Iversen but their assessing their options.

So says the one who apparently knows everything

Because Panthers don't pay much compared to other clubs.

So says the one who apparently knows everything

Panthers got Niels as an asset for peanuts, they have made a profit on him through Loan fees.

  8. You can't compare an individual meeting or two in Aus to the league programme week night meetings over here can you? Were the riders involved being paid what they are paid here?

Perhaps if the EL riders here didn't expect to use all new equipment every season their costs and demands might be lower .......

The promoters could take the risk but that is the problem, it would be a risk ..... and even if they gained a few at a lower price, if they then needed to put prices up because the lower pricing wasn't working they would possibly lose many of those newbies?

Perhaps the small crowds are because the vast majority of people don't find it particularly entertaining

  9. I'm new to this forum and have just trawled through these 33 pages and I have to say how pathetic some of this actually is.

Yes, I'm a Bees fan who was gutted by the recent news.

I think all parties are entitled to their own opinion and, in turn, they will all feel that they are correct in their views.

However, what I believe this does reveal is that whilst this wonderful sport is run predominantly by the owners of the clubs, there will always be turmoil and disagreement.

The sooner we all come to our senses and allow a neutral governing body to take charge and set rules for the good of the sport, the sooner the league will even itself out and run on a more even keel and, each season, the best team will succeed.

Come on guys and gals, let's agree to disagree and see this wonderful sport we all love move forward in a sensible manner.

The voice of reason and sound logic - how ridiculous !!

  10. This is yet another example from the long list of mistakes made by the sport's authorities. A promoter has to make telephone calls to find out how qualifying was achieved for one of the prestige meetings of the season. It appears that no-one else knew either. It seems appropriate to mention THE current topical word - TRANSPARENCY. For heaven's sake, publish the rules and qualifying criteria at the start of the season, let everyone know and stick to them. I know it is all too easy to fall back on "special dispensation" to favour certain clubs and individuals but it really does the sport no favours to project itself as being run by an incompetent, disorganised rabble.

Whoops - forgot! Very best of luck to Tom and Darcy.
