  1. Good to see Austrian juniors competing. There was some regress of them in past years.

Yes, I agree with that. That's why we invited them to join the junior championship, because we knew they have some good riders.

By the way, Vicar, I noticed some mistakes on your website. Slovenia-Czech republic meeting on 24.3. was in Ljubljana, not in Krsko. And it wasn't an international challenge match, it was a 4 nations (Slovenia, Slovakia, Croatia, Czech republic) Team Cup meeting.

  5. .

Can you confirm, (what I think happens) that in each of the individual competitions (Snr & U21) that the highest total point scorer of each country will become that country's national champion.

e.g. if the 2 new young Austrians come last at 15th and 16th, the higher will be Austrian U21 Champion, - Yes ?

I can confirm that this is true for Slovenia and Croatia. Best Slovenian rider in the senior championship is Slovenian champion and best Croatian rider is Croatian champion. And likewise for U21 championship.

But I think it's not the same for Hungary and Austria. Hungary only participates in the common U21 championship with 2 riders and they are both from Gyula (Benko, Nagy). Not sure about Austria and which two riders will participate in this competition next year. But I don't think Austria has an U21 championship.

  6. Also I was told that the UEM would finalize their calendar on the first weekend of November... Hasn't quite worked out as planned... Got to just wait...

Yes, the UEM track racing committee had it's meeting on November 5th in Denmark where the calendar was supposed to be finalized. But it seems they had some last minute cancellations and they are trying to find new organizers...

  7. Not sure about the FIM calendar. Our federation received it last week and from that email it appears that the calendar has been finished.

I was told the UEM calendar is awaiting the confirmation from the UEM management committee, which is supposed to happen next week. After that, the press release including the calendar will be issued.

  8. And here I start with the 2012 edition of Slovenian speedway news. smile.gif

Main rules and calendar for 2012 season have been discussed and fixed yesterday in Lendava, Slovenia, where the representatives of Slovenia, Croatia, Czech republic, Slovakia and Hungary met.

    * Senior championship continues with the cooperation of Slovenia and Croatia. A/B group format will again be used and in case there is not enough riders from these two countries, the lineups will be filled with riders from Czech republic, Slovakia, Hungary and Slovenia.

    * Junior championship continues with the cooperation of Slovenia, Croatia and Hungary (Gyula) and Austria will join this competition next year. The Austrians will stage one meeting (Natschbach) and two Austrian riders will participate in all 6 rounds of the championship

    * Team cup continues with the cooperation of Slovenia, Croatia, Czech republic and Slovakia. As some of the countries lack riders (Croatia, Slovakia) it was decided to use the format with two teams and 5 riders per team (similar to the Danish league)

    Here is also the calendar:

  9. May 5. Qualifying Round at Ljubljana, Slovenia: Slovenia, Italy, Ukraine, Croatia or Hungary.

June 17. Qualifying Round at Herxheim, Germany: Germany, USA, Finland, Latvia.

Where did you get this info from? Very uneven rounds, if you ask me. Germany, USA, Finland and Latvia in the same round?? Hard to believe. But it would make the job much easier for us in Ljubljana. :D

By the way: at the moment Croatia doesn't have 5 riders to even build a national team.

    And where is Czech republic?

  10. Last round of U21 championship that was supposed to be staged in Lendava on Oct.16th in cancelled. The main reason is a lot of recent injuries (Kovacic, Ilijas, Revinsek, Zupancic) and only 9 riders were entered.

2011 U21 championship is officially concluded, with 4 rounds staged. Final standings:

  11. Matej Zagar won the 4th and last round of 2011 Slovenian-Croatian senior championship held in Krsko yesterday. Dino Kovacic was 2nd and, surprise of the day, 18 year old Matic Ivacic was 3rd.

Zagar easily won his 10th Slovenian title in a row, while Kovacic once again benefited from the injury of Jurica Pavlic to take his 2nd Croatian title.
