    Australian Speedway

Hi all you Aussies out there.I heard from a freind of mine in Queensland today who emigrated from here in Coventry a few years back. She told me that she had been talking to an ex-Bee & the son of a multi world champion who are trying to open up a new track in the area. The 2 guys in question are Mitch Shirra & Kym Mauger. Do any of you Roos know anything about this. I believe it's called Gold Coast Speedway. Is it Up & running.

    2008 Gp Riders

I thought that the order was qualifiers then nominees,it has been previously & i'm sure i've seen somewhere that it will be again. That is the correct way after all.

    2008 Gp Riders

Bl***y hell i've started something here haven't i . I didn't mean that Lukas doesn't deserve to be their,he qualified & fairplay to him. Just that i don't think he has the ability to add anything to the series like he did a few years ago. That's not his fault cos alot has happened since then.I'd like nothing better than for him to prove me wrong & suceed but i'm just saying on paper he's the weakest of the 15.All i'm saying with Hampel is that he has a stronger case for being 1 of the world's top 15 but he's failed to prove so & that's why he isn't in & Lukas is.Does that make sense?

    2008 Gp Riders

No real problems with the 15 that are there TBH,just that i have a feeling Lukas Dryml will be next years whipping boy.(If he bothers to turn up that is. ) So i would have Hampel instead, but that would make him a beggar would it not
  8. Met Office site has rain clearing by noon & BBC site by 1.00PM.If this iscorrect all should be well & there will be no chance of the track being dusty again as the water will bind the shale.
  9. Thanks buddy. Shouldn't you have added safrican american
  10. I'm really pleased to see this meeting is being run on a handicap format like The Olympique as i missed that meeting this year. There's still no confirmation of the final rider & i was wondering if there are any ideas out there as too who it may be. Let's hope the weather gods are being nicer than is being predicted.
  11. Hmmm,Crunchy nut cornflakes by the sounds of it.

May the force be with you
  13. I haven't met Shazzy yet Sandie & she sounds a right scream. You must introduce her if she makes the pilgrimage up.
  14. The 15 confirmed starters so far look like a great line-up.Not so sure about Eddie though would've preferred Doolan or Tobi Kroner. I've heard a fair bit about Sitera & it'll be interesting to see how he does.Linus Sundstrom is a new 1 on me.
  15. Look at my posting on the wildcard spot thread page 4. I have listed them all there.
  16. The thread is in the GP section. Mods sort it out please.

    OHM!OHM!OHM!I love it
  18. OK so here are my thoughts on next year's competitors 1)Nicki Pedersen. A fully deserved champion this year.He has been focused from day 1 just as Jason & Tony we're previously. Will have to keep up that momentum next year as there will be at least 3 very strong contenders for his title. 2)Leigh Adams A consummate professional & in any other year could well have took the title. It'll be great to see Leigh do at least a few more years, who knows he may just reach his ultimate goal. 3)Jason Crump.By his own admittance this has not been an A1 year for the guy in the GP's. Be assured though he will be better & stronger in 2008 & gunning to get his title back. 4)Tomasz Gollob. Alot of people, myself included thought we'd seen the best of this guy. This year he has proved many wrong & he's back up there with the best.Tomasz has answered alot of questions, but a few still remain. 5)Hans Andersen.Hans wiil definetly be disappointed by 2007 cos he stated with much arrogance at the beginning of the year that he was in it for 1 thing only.Yes, injury has curtailed him a bit but Hans needs to lighten up on the attitude cos without it his talent wiil come to the fore.A definite contender in 2008. 6)Greg Hancock. Geez, what an enigma Greg has been this year.He has only really come to the fore on the temp tracks & for that he has suffered.A new focus is needed in 2008. 7)Rune Holta.I hold my hands up & say i didn't give Rune much of a chance this year so i take my hat off to the guy.2008 will be a year to prove it was no fluke. 8)Scott Nicholls. So Scotty finally get's back in by right,as he was in 2003.No-one can deny that Scott is a battler & he's fought back from that horrific smash at the start of the year.We can all have veiws on what occured in the race-off but it's all turned out for the good of British interest in the end.As with Greg,Scott neeeds to re-focus. 9)Neils-Kristian Iversen.A hell of alot of improvement on 2006 is needed.I wasn't really surprised Neils qualified at Vojens but he may be just 1 of the also-rans next year. 10)Lukas Dryml Ahem, no comment 11)Bjarne Pedersen.Has let himself down in the GP's this year. There's no doubting his talent & he has the ability to be in the world's top 3.THe guy just needs to put that into results. 12)Andreas Jonsson.AJ's 2007 campaign has been curtailed by injury yet he still got himself up there within 2pts of automatic qualification.2008 will see him as a strong contender. 13)Freddie Lindgren.Freddie's wild-card showings we're superb this year & he fully deserves his nomination.Putting those into results in 2008 will see him in the top8.Simple eh! 14)Chris Harris.Chris has been a breath of fresh air to the series this year but since his win at Cardiff has dipped in form & focus. The 5 point thing must be ditched in 2008 if he is to avoid being put in a similar position in the final round again.I do believe Chris can be Britain's next World Champion, but not just yet. 15)Krysztof Kasprszak. Not surprised KK got the nod ahead of Hampel.I have the same veiw on this guy as i do Lindgren, but just to add what will his inclusion mean for the EL.
  19. Just because the master of Bydgoszcz was supreme in those meetings Jenn, doesn't mean the rest didn't deliver some good races.
  20. The reason for the crap tracks Steve is the way that bloody cute fluffy bunny Olsen prepares them. When was the last time there was a bad GP at Bydgoszcz, answer, there hasn't been & why has this happened suddenly this year, cos it's part of Olsen's game plan. You see if you don't get a good race track at a venue where you usually would Olsen can see fans will be disillusioned by it & that is where he'll pounce with his synthetic garbage.OK RANT OVER.

    Tommy Knudsen

I last heard about Tommy 2 seasons ago & i believe he was involved in his own business. It's something to do with with therapy for sports injuries using electrical impulses i think.
  22. I had word at Brandon last night that the 4 have been confirmed, can anyone verify.

    Final Gp, From Germany

I've just read this in full after seeing your post Hackett & i'm absolutely appalled by Olsen's suggestion.Does he not understand that the shale is what makes Speedway the sport it is.The man is a 3 time World Champion with nearly 20 years racing experience for god's sake. Did that not teach him anything?.You take away the dirt ,you take away the sport as we know it & riders &supporters alike should campaign against this idea cos beleive me, from reading that article Olsen is serious.Do we want to see an end to speedway as we know it?. Do the riders want to see an end to speedway aswe know it ?.I think we'd all agree the answer is NO on both counts.
  24. Don't forget Malilla Seb.1 of the best race tracks on the GP circuit totally ruined by Olsen's inept preparation. As for the difference you ask about, only 1 man can answer that & he never seems to does he. Who could do things better?`The Doc' at Wolves maybe,or Gerald Richter at Lakeside has improved that surface immensly this season, but then i've no knowledge of any curators in any other leagues apart from over here.
