Ipswich Witches vs Belle Vue Aces (new playoff semi 1st leg) 21/09/23
40-38 replied to SpeedwayFan91's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
This is like watching paint dry. -
You have to admit that some of this evidence really doesn't paint speedway in a good light. Especially the Belle Vue stuff just now.
-
It’s poor that he filibustered for so long, drawn out questions and interminable pauses which now means Ford has travelled for nothing.
-
See them referencing the KKP study for pitches needed, there's no rebuttal because they've done no work. Equally for Speedway nobody seems to have undertaken any figures to support. No wonder he's getting flustered. I hope SCS or someone has some figures or they're going to be royally rogered.
-
It's all so secretive. We've no TV money or viewing figures, no attendance figures, no reliable model examples. Nobody has done any detailed work comparing Coventry to Oxford, or any other location despite trying to use that as a baseline. I mean what have any of them been doing? If you listen to some of the earlier exchanges re the planning it's not a done deal, but this really isn't helping speedway as a viable cause.
-
Either he's not on top of his brief or Sport England are rubbish. Maybe both.
-
Trouble is none of that's appeared in any of the official paperwork. No good relying on figures that aren't provided in official evidence.
-
Now trying to claim there's no reason Coventry couldn't co-exist at Leicester. The trouble is we're a unique motorsport being team based.
-
Also the secrecy of speedway crowds coming back to bite. No figures at all.
-
He's tying himself up in knots, because the questions are rather disingenuous from Goat-face but he's trying to make the answer positive which sounds worse than just saying no.
-
I really don't like that Mr Goat-face.
-
There is some very weaselly talk about what counts as participation. It's a bit of a blunt instrument being so literal.

Phil Morris CEO of British Speedway.

Bloke talking at the moment is getting pulled apart re viability of the stadium structure. -

That was my assumption, as supposedly he's fairly wealthy. You have to be to throw money away at speedway after all. -
It just becomes conspiracy theory nonsense with some of them. Plus those acting in the know or claiming that things were different with Nick Morris, who led them a merry dance and was lucky not to be given a life ban.
-
Oh I’m already seeing an argument developing on a Lions FB page between me and a staunch defender. I gather that he could shoot up in front of them and be considered innocent!
-
I’m assuming that given the amount of injuries sustained in a speedway year there is a list of allowable substances and or ability to declare what might be present. Given that Richie was adamant there was nothing at all I’ve not got much sympathy at present. I can only see two outcomes - lying or stupidity/ignorance.

I didn't realise they were using other club's visas? Surely that's not allowed is it?? -

We’ve had chances to close it out and never took them. Fricke was missing the kind of second heat leader back up that Ipswich, Sheffield and Belle Vue had. -

The wheels came off the wagon; Morris, some iffy signings, club for sale, loss of form and Worrall and we got to a Panthers side on the up. It only worked when everybody chipped in. That stopped a while back and the cracks got wider. -

Interestingly I got told off for shouting my disapproval tonight. Apparently we’re not meant to say something is rubbish when it is. No wonder this sport is dying. There’s no passion at all. -

Could his contract with Leicester have included a play off bonus? Does speedway do that? -

To be fair he hadn’t won a race, which was pretty much how he did at BP. -

Dreadful. Should be ashamed of that performance. -
I think it’s quite likely if his test on Wednesday was negative but Tuesday wasn’t he’d have been unfit to ride on Monday.
