It isn't as if there are "millions of pounds" riding on their decisions is it?

Refs in other sports get well paid, and even get someone else watching a monitor to advise them if they get things wrong...

Speedway refs are more like "Sunday League" officlals who do it as they enjoy being involved..

And, like it or not, the rewards for winning  titles in UK Speedway are more "Sunday League" than even "Conference League"..

If they make decisions that could recklessly impact safety of the riders then that is a different issue, and disciplinary action should be taken and be severe..

Otherwise, common sense, and perspective, should be used..

The starting stick being left in the track and the race not stopped is the only one that would fit that definition.

Shame as the team chemistry should be really good this season. All the riders know each other well and on paper it's a good side. It needs more time to get going but I imagine Stewart Dickson is furious..

The weather didn’t help but you can see the difference in attitude between the home riders and the Lions.

he’s gained an advantage as the referee has awarded him points when he failed to finish the race.  the opposition riders were not the cause of this, one of his own riders was

All riders in a race stand to gain an advantage if someone crashes. He only failed to finish the race because he got caught up in an accident that wasn't his own fault. Why is this so hard to grasp?!

I didn't watch the meeting, but from what I can gather, the heat 2 incident happened on the final lap and the other two riders finished the heat to get a 5-0.

Could neither of the Leicester riders have pushed round or remounted for a point?

The decision seems reasonable to me.

Joe Thompson needed help to get up as I think he’d been winded and he came off worse. Drew’s chain snapped according to one poster before. Wodjylo did well to miss the tangle up as well. I’m not sure what the rules are regarding pushing if you need to be helped/checked but it seemed to me that it was harsh on Joe who was in no danger until his team mate was out of control.

…edited to add Joe didn’t fall of his own accord, he collided with Drew and also the question is when is the race finished? When the winner goes over or when everyone has finished? If Wodjylo hadn’t missed the Leicester riders would it have been a 3-0?

i think the ref actually made the correct decision in heat 2.  as far as he was aware, there was a coming together of the leicester riders with both falling and letting the lynn rider through to finish 2nd for a 0-5.  surely just back luck for the lions.  doesn’t really matter that kemp was the primary cause of the incident.

I mean most people saw Kemp lose control and Thompson desperately try to avoid him, so what the referee was watching I don’t know. It was almost like slow motion.

It seems to me that Drew Kemp mentally beats himself up far too much. On the face of it I'd say he had a pretty decent night tonight, 6 points and a great heat win from reserve despite his off in heat 2. Yet he was still beating himself up for coming 3rd in his last race after the meeting. At this stage of his career he really needs to lighten up a bit imo

He improved, his second ride was poor but he sometimes tries too hard and makes mistakes like that in heat 2. It’s hard to fault someone who wants to try hard but as in his last race it’s better to get the point and the heat advantage, that was all we needed from him at that point.

The brief was for a contemporary, modern, fresh logo with a good balance between the text and image. Its looking forward to the future, rather than backwards to the past. The key was it had to appeal to a younger audiance.

I'm not overly keen, but I'm nearer 40 now so I'm no longer the younger audience!

My biggest gripe is the black and the very small Leicester. At least we're not rebranding, that never ends well.

Dan rode well at Ipswich so no reason to suggest too many duck eggs will happen, i appreciate you would want him as now you have the not so good brother who will get duck eggs.

I've said it before but I think if either Thompson is to progress they needed to move away from Leicester, and it did Dan a lot of good last year, especially with the lack of pressure. Also given the chance to learn at the exhaust of Sayfudtdinov who would turn it down?

I was merely pointing out many painkillers can give out false positives on tests and come up with cocaine, even something like ibuprofen can.No need to be a tad rude.

Not cocaine, ibuprofen can look like cannabis in some circumstances, but there isn’t much that mimics cocaine.
