At the end of the day if speedway was run better and the points limit and rules did not change every year then clubs could sign riders on longer term contacts and protect the club assets. I forget the poster's name but the person who suggested that the asset system is illegal is correct and its only the closed shop of the bspa that keeps it going. Under eu law if you are not contact you can move on for nothing this comes from the bosman ruling in football as that was the test case but the result would have been the same if bosman had been a rugby player speedway rider or in a regular 9 to 5 job.

No to Topinka he was woeful when he rode for ipswich in 99 after we dropped ben howe and on the downward slide. If we do end up with turngate then I think he will start in the top 5 as I think hart will be back. I think you could see something like this if it would fit in the limit. A lot has been said that bjerre will go el but i'm not so sure he is still only 18 and another year at pl level will do no harm 1 Doolan 2 poole 3 bjerre 4 turngate/reisger 5 morris 6 hart 7 heeps I also think blackbird could play a part somewhere

To be honest I think the move ipswich made by dropping down last winter was the correct one it is also good to see louis talking about the future of the club and with signing young riders shows that when the time is right we may move up again. However the big qusetion is will there be an elite league in a couple of years as the league appears scewed long term in its present form

No Jerran Hart next year then? I wonder if Taylor will be coming on a full transfer?

As it looks odds on that Heaps will ride for ipswich next year chris mills having stated he would like to return & harts improved form would you bet against the 3 of them being at foxhall in 2012? If we had a good top 4 do you guys think we would be too weak at the botom end with those 3 or would we be better off with Hart & Heeps? I would like to see Poole return maybe on a full transfer & Sam Masters would be a hell of a signing one other point is Bjerre off to the EL or do we think he could do with another year In the prem?

During the past 2 or 3 years the group who i have been going to speedway with has reduced from 12 everyweek to 4 or 5. 3 of those who no longer go to foxhall travel to Rye House on a Saturday night. Remember 1988 the side was crap & the following season the club dropped to the old NL. 1989 the crowds went up so i don't get why everyone seems to think the crowds will drop to a few hundred everyweek if the club goes pl. Would the crowds for el racing be any better if the side was winning all the time i don't think so remember 1998 foxhall was hardly packed everyweek was it. The hang up on seeing the big boys in the so called elite league makes me laugh who are these big name world class riders? Hans Andersen Chis Holder Freddie Lindgren & one or two others.

I can't understand why some people are so hung up on running elite league speedway. The league is not really elite is it? If the elite league was that good the top riders would ride in it. The top boys rode in a league for years with 9 teams falling crowds & tracks running on different nights it was called the British League. Lets face it the sport is in a huge mess &i'd be happy to see ipswich go pl & stay there untill the sport sorts its self out. The Louis get a lot of stick for the poor sides they put out but whats the point of splashing the cash to buy riders for a season or two then see them move on because the rules change & they can no longer be fitted in to the side or they want to ride elsewhere. As more than one rider has said in the past it makes no difference what club ownes a rider a rider will ride where they want to.
  9. Any news on the line up for this meeting? I'm thinking of making this my 6th & final meeting this season.
