2006 World Champion: Jason Crump
sussex bulldog replied to -DelBoyRodders-'s topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Bert I agree with your sentiments entirely. Congratulations Jason on a fine win following an excellent season's work for Belle Vue and speedway in general. I look forward to seeing him at Arlington on Saturday. -
Just wish to add my condolences. I remember him riding for the Hawks. RIP Toni

Meeting Announcer - Swc
sussex bulldog replied to Robyn1972's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
No offence to Bryn or Mike but I just have to say that Kevin Coombes is loved by all at Eastbourne and other tracks where he runs around with his mike. They all do a good job at giving out information and keeping the crowd amused. It has been said earlier that if the meeting were in Denmark, then the presenter calls for the fans to support the Danes. If the meeting were in Poland, then the presenter calls for the fans to support the Poles and so on. As to bends yes there are two, one at each end. There are four turns [ well there are if you are lucky ] -

I heartily endorse that. He adds fun to his presentation and is very clear and easy to follow. -
Attn. Those Who Signed The Champ. Of Gb Petition
sussex bulldog replied to Robyn1972's topic in Speedway Testimonials & Individual and Shared Events
As a signatory I feel it should be sent to the Speedway Star. You could say far more people voiced their agreement than actually put pen to paper [ so to speak ] -
Yes Gordon was my hero too ! I took my young boys to Arlington when he was riding in the late 80's for the Eagles in the National League. My eldest son had a pair of his old leathers.

History Of Eastbourne/hastings Book
sussex bulldog replied to tape2tapevideo's topic in Years Gone By
For various reasons a book signing seems unlikely. Just like to wish the authors good luck with this. -
You have me too when I was with Krissie
-
Yes I was there but I used to get in through the woods and over the fence I was at Junior School just along the road. Had a long break after 1959 until 1973 or 1974 when I went when not working and returned again in 1988.
-
Can't remember what I did yesterday !
-
Well I was there but don't have the info. You might try Sid Shine the stats man at www.elite-eagles.com If he has the info on file I am sure that he will help you.
-
He does make the odd appearance at Arlington and looks no older than when he last rode.

Crump Out Ill

I think you will find that the remark was tongue in cheek -
Yes please ! Thank you. Very much appreciated.
-
Yes that was what I was talking about though I hesitated to name the club. The move did neither rider nor club any good and Gordon was left with the average he obtained at reserve as he did not complete enough rides at number 1.
-
He was "used" as a reserve and developed a falsely high average whereupon he could neither get a place in an EL team or drop down to PL [NL] He kept the diabetes very much under control. Having been recently diagnosed with it I hope that I can do the same.
-
Many thanks Norbold. It was very much appreciated.
-
Norbold I would be most grateful. When Gordon crashed at Arlington he was concussed and when he came to he thought he was at White City.
-
Well each to our own but I have seen Gordon going around the outside at Arlington on many occasions. Yes Shazzy last time I saw him I did not think he had aged at all.
-
I remember Gordon well with Keith Pritchard following him home for a 5-1. Sad how he was treated at the end of his career though.
