Is Speedway Better As A Team Sport On As An Individual Sport?
sussex bulldog replied to phillipsr's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Team racing is far better than individual racing IMHO. When the top rider looks for his partner and gets him by there is real skill. Gordon Kennett, Martin Dugard and David Norris were always good at this at Arlington. -
From The Argus by Brian Owen Eastbourne chief Bob Dugard has revealed why he has no financial worries about taking the club into third-tier racing. Eagles will track a young side in the National League in 2015 after their Elite League place was put on ice for a year. It rlosses, even if the new team prove to be a turn-off for fans. The long-serving promoter revealed: “Financially I’ve got no fears about next year. “If we only get 100 people per meeting our losses would still be one-sixth what they are at the moment. “At 200 people per meeting we would almost be breaking even but we would not be able to help riders with equipment and the like. “At 400 people we would be able to help them in that way. But that’s all it would be. “It would not be spending big money on riders. “The whole basis of this league is to develop young riders and we won’t be any different. “I don’t know what level we will be at in the first season but we will get to grips with the league in time.” Eagles’ change of league means skipper Cameron Woodward will leave the club he joined early in the 2006 season as a young replacement for the injured Brent Werner. He has been granted a testimonial at Arlington next year.

Eastbourne To Close Down

Nothing announced yet but I would imagine so -
I have not been to stock cars for a long time but I am told crowds are good. They do a lot of advertising on local radio.

The response from fans who have not attended in recent years is good and most current attendees that I have spoken to will be there -
Eastbourne To Close Down

I think Bob has 8 EL fixtures in mind and then lower level meetings on other dates. Possibly NL ? Let us hope some agreement is reached.. -
I do not think so it is a last ditch attempt to try and promote speedway that people will support without making an annual loss of £200,000

The Decline Of British Speedway
sussex bulldog replied to customhouseregular's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Well now we have one less team. News today in the local Eastbourne paper that there will be no more speedway at Arlington. Very sad news. -
Very sad news indeed. Like Sophie I shall no longer have a local track to attend as Lakeside and Poole are the nearest and too far to attend on a regular basis. So that leaves 8 EL tracks.

I totally agree and of course Eastbourne was the first victim of the "system" in 2002. -

It certainly looked horrific from the Grandstand. Tai was in a lot of pain and I wish him a speedy recovery. -

We have had heavy rain yesterday and early morning but the sun is shining now. If anyone can get the meeting on Bob Dugard can. Fingers crossed. -
Very well thank you

No serious interest as far as we can tell. There have been offers to buy for re-development which have been turned down. Some fans are looking at forming a consortium but it would need a really good response.

It seems no Lewis Blackbird. Hopefully JK has his new engines. Mickel in under 21 so RR. I hope the Eagles can come away with at least a point. I guess Kim will want to show the Eagles what they missed. -
We have a poll on where eagles dare and so far Saturday is slightly in front although I would go on either day.
