    Coventry Bees 2014

If Horton relaxes his stance on Barker and other Cov assets riding for Brum, then there's no reason why King would be a non starter, the balls in Hortons court on that one I'd say, especially with changes in the Brum management.

That's a fair point Nigel, had not thought of it that way, without wishing to sound harsh however, a commercial manager is replacable, but are owners ?, yet to see any big queue's at Sheffield and Peterborough's doors.

I suspect your right, but with story and counter story I could never be sure. It's never nice to have people leave like this but sometimes painful decisions have to be made for the greater good, namely the continued existence and wellbeing of Birmingham Speedway.

So, have most of the issues been resolved with the commercial manager going, or does the problem/person lie elsewhere ?, that's the million dollar question. I'd like to think we can move foward now, but impossible to say without knowing for certain who's causing the issues.

Lindgren not riding in the UK in 2014, Doyle said he won't be back and is a cert for Swindon, and good luck convincing the others considering the captain has just deserted the sinking ship.

The way things are going, can you blame Danny for thinking he might be better off elsewhere ?. The house at PB needs sorting and pronto, already alienated enough people in the sport as it is. That's exactly the problem, an unwillingness to indentify the guilty party and oust them so the club can move forward and regain the trust of others that it needs to survive, is keeping someones ego intact really more important than the clubs future ?.

    Panthers 2014

That should be the biggest wake up call of all that change is needed, a well funded team that's there or thereabouts every year with superstars like Ward, Holder and Hancock still cant get the attendances required at time. Not everyone has a Matt Ford and he won't last forever.

That won't happen this year, can't chuck Leicester out after inviting them, so would have to be an expanded EL in 2015 or an EL club drops out in 12 months/

Farce purely and simply now with everything going on, feel totally disinterested currently.

Really, any need ?. I think he can be a twit too, but there's more to Boro than him.

I think it brings home how many clubs were having issues behind the scenes, only Brum & Swindon's issues went public, but that was/is the tip of the iceberg.

Blimey and I thought the Brummies were staring into the abyss. Gutted for the Peterborough fans, whatever you thought of their management, riders or resident troll on here (how long before Hougaard Racing defects to Poole ?), the place was a proper speedway track that would be sorely missed while the Arlington Triangle carries on. Hopefully you find a buyer and return to the PL, the EL can always be returned to later, ensuring you have a club is the priority.

    Birmingham 2014

Irrelevant now, the club has been screwed to such an extent now, no one will want to touch it with a bargepole in 2014 without new management, might be two sides, but one side has zero trust and credibility after this season, I initially stood up for the management, hoping it was mischief making by some and they were well meaning, if inexperienced, to find out what's actually gone on, they should be hung out to dry IMO for misleading us and putting the clubs very future at stake as a result that no one will want to do business with them anymore. I can't believe Phillips has had the bare faced cheek to have a go at Morris for "washing dirty linen in public" at least Phil was professional enough to not say anything during the season or while under contract, you Mr Phillips however have been airing dirty washing in public for the last 18 months, complete hypocrite.

    Birmingham 2014

Feel totally embarrassed to support Birmingham currently considering some of the disgusting antics of some mentioned by Phil there, time for the owner to go IMO for the sake of the clubs reputation and future.

    Birmingham 2014

The only person who seemingly thinks that is probably the person who's the main factor in him leaving Birmingham, probably the best manager in talking to the media, a good motivator and can spot half decent riders, what's not to like ?. I think Alan Phillips should sell up, the path allegedly being presented for 2014 currently looks like one to a slow death for me, slipping into PL obscurity with tumbling crowd levels and interest following when people think where they were in 2013 and the PL doesn't turn out to be the low cost nirvana some seem to be imagining.
  17. david2905

    Birmingham 2014

With this story and other rumours about the PL on the Brummies forum, Alan Phillips can do one IMO now, almost British Champions to possible midtable PL fodder with an inferior team manager, that will really have sponsors and fans rushing through the door to make the finances healthier won't it As I've said before, allegedly we went EL under Tony Mole as crowd levels in the PL were not good enough, so why the hell would they be good enough now ?, you certainly will have a drop off in attendance so any drop in expenditure is lost again by a drop in revenue, but at PL level it's that much harder to attract new fans and sponsors, so if there's any truth in it, it would be a daft decision commercially, especially as the 2014 EL appears likely to be barely a step up.
  18. david2905

    Birmingham 2014

I think we'll be going ahead next year, if Phillips wanted out, surely he would of gone public in search of a buyer by now ?, and you could hardly seel if no one knows you wanted to sell. Or is that too common sense thinking for this sport ?.

    Team Gb - Middlo Quits!

The GB Manager may have limited talent to work with, but can still do the best job with what he has, something Middlo failed to convince most he was doing that, remember at Poole he has considerably more powers and funds to mask any errors. I think someone's suggested Havelock just for the crack after Coventry's season, Morris is nailed on short of the ultimate corruption or him turning it down.

Despite Horton's protestations I woulden't rule Barker out, depends what the lad wants himself. Smoli won't ride in the UK as I'm sure no one will be willing to take him on with a 7 average, in my provisional team for 2014 in my mind, I have King as a #5 and someone else likely to move due to the the new limit and politics as a #1.

    Wolverhampton 2014

Most clubs would take Doyle if offered, but that's the point, he isn't on offer.
  24. david2905

    Birmingham 2014

Doubt Smolinski will be in Britain at all with the GP's and other commitments, let alone it would be brave to employ him on a 7 average, Auty's possible but would prefer other options, Covatti's a cert IMO.

    Birmingham 2014

I'd be surprised if the PL was even being considered, a large part of moving into the EL was that the sums didn't even add up in the PL, so I can't see what's changed between now and then, EL costs might be higher, but higher attendances partly compensated, presumably then dropping down to PL level would mean a drop in attendance levels, totally defeating the point of dropping down. The problem is (and for a few others) revenue doesn't match outlay, changing divisions may alter costs, but if it alters attendance levels too, then it's a rather futile exercise. Infact I seem to recall hearing the only British club genuinely making profit was Dudley, those without financial worries are just being subsidised from elsewhere, as a business, their models are as knackered as everyone elses. Ok few if any sports actually make a profit (we do it for the love of it if we're honest), but Speedway without the backing of many others, can't afford to run at such a loss.
