  1. Bjerr had a fight with Bridger after the failed Tac ride.

Bjerre had no one to blame but himself for that as Bridger was running 2nd, Danny King 3rd and Bjerre trundling at the back, how can he be moaning at Bridger for that ?, not his fault Kenneth was too slow to pass King is it ?.

The Brummies made heavy weather of that, losing a few heats you'd expect them to do well in and R/R did worse than Smoli would of done, so quite relieved to get max points in the end, Barker being the stand out man.

  2. Well, as of today's post, my discount vouchers (ordered Friday morning) have failed to materialise.

Likewise, luckily I already have some sent anyway as the club already have my address, but I wanted to order some more to try and entice a few more people, not very good sending people a text saying text this number to get vouchers sent and then sweet fa happens.

    52-38 Brummies.

  3. What have been Kennett's scores over the last month in UK and abroad ? How does he compare to the other riders ?

    His last 5 scores have been 1, 6, 6+1, 7+2, 10+1

All were away meetings bar the 7+2 he got at home against Coventry. 10+1 was away at Eastbourne

If the SWC was at Eastbourne then the selection would make sense, but as it stands, they don't race on comedy small tracks, what's the good of having a track specialist for a type that isn't used ?.

I think Harris needs a reasonable showing if it's not to be his last selection, he may be doing no worse than anyone else, but unless someone is truly world class (ie Woofy) I'd try and keep the squad under the age of 30 where there's still room for improvement, Bomber may get back to where he was, but he won't improve on that at 31 or whatever he is now.

  4. Agree about Kennett being a poor choice, he may be doing alright for Swindon, but he always seems to go missing at the big events like the British Final and World Cups, while Harris and Nicholls are not worldbeaters, they would step up and have a go, Eddie generally seems anonymous, Personally I'd of gone for King, Barker while running into form now, has only turned the corner 4 weeks ago.

Agree with Cookie, and Woofy/Bomber were automatic picks.

Doint it with Kildemand V Eastbourne is one thing, with Harris against Australia is quite another.

  5. They are talking to all Midlands clubs but are in advanced talks with Walsall about playing at the Bescot next season and beyond, which is crazy!!. I mean surely St Andrews is the logical choice, given its a straight A road from Coventry and a more or less a direct train link. Also Blues are in financial mess themselves, so beneficial for them to rent out their ground to gain extra income.

At the risk of going off topics, Birminghams owners don't understand the concept of finances (the chairmans on trial in China for that very reason), so it woulden't surprise me if Walsall offered better terms.

Long as they stay away from Brandon, who cares, unless your a Bee who's a CCFC fan the rest of the time.

  6. I woulden't be concerned, if CCFC are not at the Ricoh next season, the likelihood is they will be tennants at Walsall or St Andrews for a few years, plenty can happen in that time like a takover and suddenly the problems with the Ricoh disappear.

If all else fails, the local NIMBY's will see to it nothing happens at Brandon (must be the first instance where such people would aid speedways interests than interfere with them!).

  7. In a democracy, which this country is, there is and should be, a right of appeal.

Course the right to appeal should be there, but it's a bit cheeky to even attempt to apeal when your blatantly guilty!, I'd tell BV they may appeal, but if as expected the original decision is upheld, the fine would be increased to £10,000.

Appeals are for when you've been hard done by with a borderline decision and there's a large element of doubt, appealing when there's no doubt the guilty verdict is correct (they admitted it afterall) is just an abuse of the appeal system.

  8. Whichever EL track you hold it on, it will be an adavantage to someone, and I can't see it being held on a PL track.

Why not ? I'd of said Sheffield for one is more than capable and a decent track, would help bring the PL riders closer if one or two of them had home track advantage too.

No he wasn't, Bomber was, look at the scores. Tai 15, Bomber 12 and Scott only 11.

No, I'm pointing out that people are being selective. You can't chose to use last years rule of 2nd place get the GP place while ignoring old rules that 2nd highest scorer finishes 2nd.

Using you your, "second top scorer hasn't meant a thing for many a year" theory, finishing 2nd place doesn't mean you qualify for the GP any more.

Bomber has had chances, he's not even riding that well this year but honestly, who do you think will do a better job at Cardiff? Because Scott won't, he's riding worse than Bomber. Cook? Well he couldn't beat an under performing, off form Chris Harris and Scott Nicholls.

To be frank, Bomber and Nicholls at their ages are not going to get any better, their form might go up and down slightly but they are not going to put 2 points on their averages, Craig Cook while not up to their level, is making leaps and bounds improving all the time and currently looks our best hope for the future, he needs to be given the opportunity to develop that talent.

I THINK you also have to look at the geography. Wolverhampton is centrally placed and that must be a consideration for the fans surely?

Isn't a consideration for the fans when it takes until well after 10PM to stage the final, whether it's Wolves, The Ref or Sky to blame is irrelevant, people won't travel to it if the meeting goes on so late they have issues with return travel home or young children who are unlikely to see bed until AM.

  9. I know it was 22 heats as opposed to 15, but my god, Wolves sure know how to drag out a meeting for no good reason and bore you to tears between heats, had they taken another 5 mins I would of had to forego the final to ensure I got home tonight, which I would have been less than happy about having paid nearly £30 for entry, programme and food/drink, apparently Wolverhampton locals don't have home to get to unlike the rest of us.

  10. I found it interesting that Shouty Pearson last night talking about the pinnacle of the speedway year being the British Final, when in previous seasons it was always the Cardiff GP.

The British League shoulden't buckle to Sky's ill informed belief that Speedway doesn't exist if Sky don't have the rights to it, if Sky don't want to pay for the GP's or other league's, then that's their business, but they shoulden't be allowed to mislead viewers that the Elite League is the be and end all, fact is British Speedway is far from the pinnacle of the sport currently, and letting Sky helpe people believe all is well in our little bubble won't help change that.

  11. As a Brummie, I'm pleased to see Bomber at Cardiff as one of our riders, however, I must agree with the majority that I think it's wrong to take the wildcard away from the best rider in the British Final bar Woofy, with their results this season and last, it's not impossible a King or Kennet got of got their by right.

I don't begrudge Bomber the wildcard, but believe he should prove he deserves it, and the British Final was the perfect way of doing it.
