  1. If the same Kennett, that rides for Rye House, turns up to ride for Birmingham, it could be a close affair. If not, then can only see an away win..

Could narrow the scoreline somewhat, but need Barker and King to start turning up for all their rides to stand a chance, only Scornicki's thought winning might be a good idea thus far.

  2. The Brummies have been in the play offs for the last 2 years and topped the league in the regular season last year. The fans have no divine right to have a successful team year in year out.

No one claiming that as far as I can see ?, but the point stands, even Poole would see a drop off in attendances if they were performing like this, fans in any sports are fickle, regardless of club.

  3. JesuS bloody wept there is no justice. A guy that wrecks Darcys night then flukes a win.

    Terrible

How the feck do you "fluke" a win against that calibre of field ? if you win a GP it's because you deserve it.

According to some, even looking at Darchole is worthy of a 28 day ban now it seems.

  4.

My point being was that Coventry had a lot of rain last week leading up to the ERC and the amount of rain clearly had an affect on getting the track sorted.

However if the website was saying the track was OK at 4PM then that clearly is a different matter and now i can see why the Aces are putting in a complaint.

The track at Brandon is considerably more knackered in general than Perry Barr.

  5. Why have BV complained? do they want Birmingham fined ? they're struggling financially as it is ! RIDICULOUS! It rained heavy and the track was too dangerous to ride competetively, so as not to jeopardise riders safety, the meeting was obviously postponed ! Why on earth would they call it off for any other reason, when it's your first home league meeting? I feel for the BV supporters travelling all that way, but that's speedway! I've gone a lot further than 90 miles to be disappointed in the past !

Despite being a Brummie fan, I can understand BV's view if there's any truth whatsoever in some of the allegations being made.

  6. According to todays B,ham Mail,Graham Drury says he tried to sign two riders that are lining up against the Brummies tonight.

Suppose one would be Scott Nicholls, but couldnt meet their financial terms.

You say that like missing out on Nicholls is a bad thing, yeah I know our line up doesn't look great but Scotty is hardly the man to improve it!.

  7.

Well, thanks for that. Just what we needed to know. I don't think that on the basis of that I need waste any money this Wednesday then. Nor, by the lack of a thread on the matter, does it look like any other Brummies fans are interested in the Belle Vue fixture either.

Yeah right, as if you were going to turn up regardless, there can't be much left of that axe now considering how long it's been grinding...

  8. Well if this is setting the tone for the season, Alan Phillips had best not have the bare faced cheek to complain when fans abandon watching this side assembled for £1.50, a highly uncompetitive side killing attendances will do just as much damage to the club as overspending.

I hope this is an occasional away blip, but done nothing to appease worries the side looks quite poor.

  9. Yet another rider that signs up but is not revealed till a month later.

Can't understand the reasoning behind this attitude in speedway to keep things hush hush

It is rather farcical that both the indentity of the rider and sponsor were well known in advance of the announcement, holding it at a Selco Warhouse..... hmmm..... B&Q possibly then ?

Personally I'm not commenting as much because thus far, there hasn't been a terrible lot to say that's nice I'm afraid, OK some financial restraint was clearly needed, but I think we have gone too far in persuit of it, and produced what looks a totally underwhelming team on paper as a result, I only hope it performs better on shale than it looks on paper or we will be back to square one with poor crowds again, no promotions or offers in the world will get people in to watch a poor performing team.

  10. But with Birmingham surely unable with their once-a-week local noise restrictions to accommodate to much (if any) of any emergency hosting of Coventry home meetings and Monmore already doubly-committed to the Wolves and Heathens, would Leicester be the most likely saviour of any Bees' home action if Brandon closes completely mid-season ?

Afraid the Brummies would be unable to help in such a situation and retain enough suitable rain off dates, if they could then Dudley would have remained part tennants than moving full time to Monmore.

  11. Average field?, who you expecting Gollob, Emil, Hancock to ride. Pretty happy they have asked riders that rode so well for us to come back for thr opening meeting, just hope Smoli and Nico make it.

Can't say they were not warned if not many turn up for what's effectively the Brummies 2013/14 side, presumably minus Doyle given his issues.

  12. This Thursday as is the sponsorship, thats what Druey said in the Sunday mercury

Regarding the Selco Classic, all the riders that rode for us last year, plus Skornicki and Kennett have been invited, so has Freddie Lindgren.

No big names bar Lindgren ?, individual meets struggle to get crowds regardless, let alone one with an average field.

  13. I've have enough of the s***storm at the Brummies this winter now, can we leave both it and references to people who played their part in it in the past ?, those talking about the ex commercial manager are just inciting different emotions out of other posters on the matter where it's already passed, right or wrong, no amount of hot air on here will change that, other than get a heated debate.

  14. All the promotions in the world will be worthless unless the teams up to scratch at home, this is the most crucial part of getting people in and is the one that's lacking I fear, in the relentless quest for budgetary constraint, I fear we have gone from one extreme to the other and produced a team that looks woefully lacking.

Hope I'm wrong, but I think seeing what we've had to played with and who we've signed as a result, with hindsight, Mr Phillips might have been better to accept Tony Mole's offer earlier in the winter, the impression I'm getting is the budget we're working to is impractically low for the EL, and as mentioned earlier the PL is not the answer either.

  15. I think it's fairly obvious that we're going to be nowhere near the playoffs this season, more likely competing for the wooden spoon, and I'm at peace with that because there are completely understandable reasons for it, the priority has to be getting the club financially stable and I think it's more likely to be done this way than by adopting the "sh*t or bust" approach taken last season.

You shoulen't be at peace with that scenario as a team competing for the wooden spoon won't have people rushing to fill it's finances, neither sponsor nor supporter, seems like we are going from one extreme of last season to the other this year from where Im sat.

  16. So by my admitedly dodgy maths, this seems to mean no Nick Morris for Brum

Was never on due to the doubling up rule, personally I think Kennett being in the side provides a problem here just as much as any doubt over his performance, him taking the 2nd doubling up berth blocks signing any improving younger riders effectively as nearly all ride in the PL.
