    Mildenhall 2013

Hi all! I'm a speedway fan from Poland currently living in Cambridge. I was hoping to meet some fans who go from/via Cam to speedway meetings and I was told that Mildenhall is the right place to look at. I'd be very happy to get in touch with anyone willing to offer a lift to a keen foreigner or just to watch SGP coverages somewhere in town (if such are offered anywhere at all). Many thanks in advance for all useful tips and contacts!
  2. Thanks for all the replies guys! I'm still hoping for some EL/SGP "beachhead" in Cambridge but the idea of looking at Mildenhall sounds really fun. I haven't really considered National League before and indeed Leszno where I come from is a very fast track where every other week world's top riders come and do magic, but hey... I've always enjoyed visiting Rawicz which offers a short and technical track, probably as close as it gets to the British ones in Poland. It's still a bit too far for a cycle ride though so I'll keep looking for a good soul with a largish car Thanks again!
  3. The true is that Cegielski's friends (like Kolodziej, his "padawan" ) were a bit afraid that something might happen to Krzysztof (you can here it in the video I posted above). Kolodziej even suggested that he would run behind Cegielski. Fortunately nothing like that happened and Krzysztof promised to have more such sessions next year!
  4. Now we have a video too: .

    Leigh Adams' Cheerio

Exactly. The whole story was like that: the present chairman of Unia Leszno, Jozef Dworakowski, said that he is going to retire from the club. Then Jarek took the microphone and said that he would sign a new 2-years contract with Unia if Dworakowski changed his mind. And so both of these gentlemen declared to stay in Leszno what made the crowd so enthusiastic :-) I'm really happy to hear you enjoyed speedway in Leszno! Hope you will visit us again next year, for the GP or so!

    Leigh Adams' Cheerio

Well, formally Piotr is affiliated with Unia Leszno, but the question where the Pawlicki brothers would settle for the next year isn't answered yet. Przemysław has a long term contract in Leszno but this year he rode for Gorzów as a result of a huge conflict with the Unia's authorities. I think these problems are gone now and really hope that both of these guys will stay in Leszno for 2011.

    Leigh Adams' Cheerio

Janusz said that he had two punctures in his previous heats and, as there was an agreement that only one tyre would be used for the whole tournament, was left without any. He asked Leigh whether it would be OK if he retired from the meeting and Adams didn't mind saying that the young guns would also like to take a try. One day you might be even happy that you watched Piotr Pawlicki jr in his first year as he is one of the hottest prospects for the future in the whole Polish speedway

    Leigh Adams' Cheerio

"T" does stand for touching the tapes. As a consequence, Slawomir Musielak substituted him in heat 16. A few videos were taken during the Leigh Adams' Last Lap. Here they are: , , and . You might also enjoy this photo gallery: CLICK. We will miss you, Leigh!

Another kangaroo in Leszno - this time it's Travis McGowan. He has signed a 2-years long contract.

    Ekstraliga 2007

Troy Batchelor signed for Unia Leszno as an U21 rider. Can anyone, who has seen him on the track, tell something more about him?

    Ekstraliga 2007

So Tarnow came from zero to hero in one day... Once again they will be very strong and dangerous. This piece of news is devastating for Bydgoszcz, signing Staszewski and Okoniewski seems desperate, but... there's no other choice. Still, Bydgoszcz seems to have the worst team in the league so far. They MUST scoob Loram. As we now know, Rzeszow's Wunderwaffe is Davey Watt. They also look very poor to me. Nicki is more than OK, but Nicholls' last year's performance in Ekstraliga was a big disappointment. Dobrucki will suerly be strong in Rzeszow, but I don't see him as the third team leader in away matches - his last year's away average was 1.58 including two matches against very weak Rybnik and only 1.32 without them. Worse than poor and I don't think, that Watt or any of the local heros (Kuciapa, Rempala, Baran...?) could fill that hole. Also U21 riders don't look good. I wonder, what is Torun going to do. They really hoped to sign Gollob or Holta and now they seem to have one gap in their squad. They have Jagus, Sullivan, Miedzinski and Kosciecha - there's still one place left. Of course having Zabik, the only U21 rider in next year's Ekstraliga, who can score over 10 points everywhere and against everyone, they don't have to be so desperate.

    Leigh Adams

One of the 2008 and 2009 GP Tournaments will take place in Leszno. After so many years with Leigh riding for our Unia it is UN-BE-LI-VA-BLE, that our kangaroo-champion will miss both of them

    Ekstraliga 2007

Dobrucki has made his decision - he's moving to Rzeszow. Anyway, he's not the secret signing. Rzeszow's manager Marta Poltorak said, that her Wunderwaffe is a foreign rider with some good results in BEL and Eliteserien, who wants to try his luck in Ekstraliga.

    Ekstraliga 2007

This year's winter period is probably one of the craziest I remember It's been just one mont of the three months long "signing window" and we've alrady had a few "big bangs" (and "smaller" too ) : Protasiewicz, Hampel, Sullivan, Lindbaeck, Holta (not sure, where he goes - probably Tarnow, but he leaves Rzeszow for sure), Bjarne Pedersen, Chrzanowski, Kosciecha, Nicholls, Iversen. Thing are getteing funny, e.g. Rzeszow confirmed, that they have signed someone new, but they won't tell who it is Let's just hope they don't forget to announce their decision before the end of the signing period. It is said, that their new rider could be Davey Watt, but the only background of this opinion is "why not?" We're still waiting for Tomasz Gollob's decision. Except of him, there are only a few riders still available, that could guarantee at least decent performacne in the Extraleague: Dobrucki, Loram, Miedzinski... And it seems, that needs are much, much bigger: Rzeszow, Bydgoszcz and Tarnow have more gaps, than riders for now. There won't be enoug for all of them.

Tyskie beer comes from the Upper Silesian city of Tychy Word "tyskie" is simply an adjective describing things coming from Tychy. The brewery was founded in the begining of 17th century and is said to have produced beer constantly ever since. Tyskie has had great advertisements recently, showing how rich it's tradition is. One of them was showing a moment, when Dutch sailors bought the Manhattan Island from the natives. It was 1626 and then it was said, that first information about Tyskie brewery is 13 years older As Borat Sagdiyev would say: "nice"

Funny, byt correct German: Großpolen, Latin: Polonia Maior, English: Great or Greater Poland. I must admit, I like this translation a lot Back at the topic: GP riders are allowed to start in Division One next year - that's why Gdansk scoobed Bjarne Pedersen. Yesterday they also signed former GP rider Tomasz Chrzanowski, their team looks really nice. It's going to be a really interesting season... So, let's go to the fridge and support Unia Leszno actively Cheers!

Not true You can buy Lech Pils in Leszno and other places in Wielkopolska (Great Poland) easily. A few clubs in our area will be sponsored by this company, also my favourite Unia Leszno What is more, You can buy Lech Pils in all of the "Piotr i Pawel" malls - in Warszawa, Wroclaw, Bydgoszcz, Torun, Zielona Gora, etc. That's probably because this company was also "born" in Poznan
  18. Hello everyone! I'm a Polish speedway fan. My favourite team is KS Unia Leszno. I'm going to post here the most important facts about it's results, etc. I don't expect huge crowd in this topic, but maybe some Pirates', Robins' or Wolves' supporters would like to know how Kasprzak, Adams or Skornicki are doing in Polish Extraleague. As far as I remember also Lukasz Jankowski had a short tete a tete with British speedway, he rode some heats for Oxford, King's Lynn and Arena Essex, I feel. This season began very badly for our team, when Rafal Dobrucki, former Oxford's rider, seriously hurt his backbone in a friendly match against RKM Rybnik. On Sunday, 10th of April, Leszno had to face Apator Torun. We all expected a quite confident victory, as Torun doesn't seem to be very strong this year. Visitors brought the best squad they could, with Jason Crump, Wieslaw Jagus and impressive U21 riders - Miedzinski and Zabik. After a quite interesting match Unia managed to beat Apator by 51:39. Leszno has been leading since the beginning of this clash and I find this victory fully deserved, but the bonus point is quite uncertain. APATOR Torun 1. Jason Crump (2,3,2,3,3,1') 14+1 - very good riding by Jason, won once and lost twice against Adams, sensationally beaten by young Robert Kasprzak, 2. Andy Smith (0,1,0,-,-) 1 - full of ambition, but that's just not enough, 3. Mariusz Puszakowski (EF,1,0,1',1) 3+1 - very poor performance, but managed to beat Krzysztof Kaprzak once, 4. Marcin Jagus (1,-,-,-) 1 - poor, but that's just what we expected 5. Wieslaw Jagus (3,2,3,2,3,2) 15 - fantastic riding, beaten only 3 times by Adams, 6. Adrian Miedzinski (0,0,0,-,1)1 - terrible! Those, who remember his last year's performance in U21 World Championships Final in Wroclaw, couldn't belive their eyes, 7. Karol Zabik (2,t,2',0,0) 4+1 - riding better than points, "t" means touching the tape, riders are being excluded for it in Poland. UNIA Leszno 9. Leigh Adams (3,3,2,3,3) 14 - fantastic performance! 10. Adam Skornicki (1,1,1',2,2') 7 +2 - on of the biggest surprises of this match, efficient and showy! 11. Jacek Rempala (3,2,1,0,0) 6 - average, nothing more... 12. Lukasz Jankowski (2',0,EF,2) 4+1 - poor, very poor - we're going to miss Dobrucki... 13. Damian Balinski (1',2',1,1',-) 5+3 - slower than should be, but had a great battle against Crump, 14. Robert Kasprzak (1,-,-3,-) 4 - HUGE surprise! Never expected to bead World Champion! 15. Krzysztof Kasprzak (3,2,3,0,3) 11 - effective, but not brilliant. Scored all he got at the start... and nothing more... 1. (61,0) K.Kasprzak, Zabik, R.Kasprzak, Miedzinski 4:2 Great start by Kasprzak brothers, but Krzysztof didn't wait for his younger brother and Zabik passed Robert on the outside easily. 2. (60,2) Adams, Crump, Skornicki, Smith 4:2 (8:4) Adams starting from the inside got on lead at the first corner and despite Crump's permanent chasing reached the finish on 1st place. 3. (62,1) Rempala, Jankowski, M.Jagus, Puszakowski EF 5:1 (13:5) 4. (61,0) W.Jagus, K.Kasprzak, Balinski, Miedziński 3:3 (16:8) Jagus best from the gates and didn't let Kasprzak take 3 points. 5. (61,5) Crump, Rempala, Smith, Jankowski 2:4 (18:12) Poor Jankowski's performance allowed Smith to pass him on the outside. 6. (62,3) K.Kasprzak, Balinski, Puszakowski, Zabik T 5:1 (23:13) Zabik touches the tape, Leszno wins the repeated heat easily - crucial moment for this meeting. 7. (61,5) Adams, W.Jagus, Skornicki, Miedzinski 4:2 (27:15) Jagus wins the start, but Adams rides perfectly and remains unbeaten. 8. (61,9) R.Kasprzak, Crump, Balinski, Smith 4:2 (31:17) SENSATIONAL HEAT! Leszno riders took off like jets and due to very good team-riding defended successfully for over 3 laps. Finally Crumps managed to pass Balinski, but young Kasprzak still had a few meters of advantage and reach the end as leader. World Champion beaten! 9. (61,1) Crump, Adams, Skornicki, Puszakowski 3:3 (34:20) That time Crump rode very well and it was the end of Adams' dreams of a "full". 10. (61,8) W.Jagus, Zabik, Rempala, Jankowski EF 1:5 (35:25) Rempala won the start, but couldn't stop Torun riders from passing him. 11. (61,1) Adams, W.Jagus, Puszakowski, K.Kasprzak 3:3 (38:28) Kasprzak poor from the gates and couldn't even pass weak Puszakowski. 12. (62,2) Crump, Jankowski, Miedzinski, Rempala 2:4 (40:32) Jankowski won the start, but Crump passed him easily. Fortunately Miedzinski was to slow to do it. 13. (62,2) W.Jagus, Skornicki, Balinski, Zabik 3:3 (43:35) Torun best from the gates, but Skornicki hard try at the inside allowed him and Balinski to pass young Zabik. 14. (61,8) K.Kasprzak, Skornicki, Puszakowski, Zabik 5:1 (48:36) Leszno got the points they needed - home team wins the match! 15. (62,0) Adams, W.Jagus, Crump, Rempala 3:3 (51:39) Adams loses the start, but after first lap is already on lead. That's all for now. Best greetings from Leszno!
