  1. No i havent sorry. Should i go on every teams thread and discuss their riders?

Try looking a little bit deeper. Ive been on Wolves thread re Masters, Edinburgh thread re Pickering, have also been on the Rye thread re Watt doing well. Somerset thread as well re Tungate.

With regards to Watt he is doing as i expected. Would never have him down as the winner of the whole thing so he is actually higher than i thought.

Sedgy obviously is doing better than i thought, Masters and Morris are where i though they would be. Batch maybe higher and Fricke would have been my favourite beforehand.

Davey Watt is a second string doing very well in oz. Why would Rye fans be worried?

read my post aboce Lisa then see if you can come back with a constructive answer please.

    1. Sedgman 46 (doing better than expected)

    2. Masters 43 (doing as expected)

    3. Watt 39 (doing better than expected)

    4. Fricke 39 (slightly below expected)

    5. Batch 35 (slightly below expected)

    6. Morris 31 (doing as expected)

    7. Kurtz 25 (as the defending champ he is performing below his standard)

    8. Holder 23 (doing as expected)

    9. Tungate 19 (doing way below expected)

Those 9 riders are the only ones really in with any chance of the finals in the meetings.

If you think one slightly below par performance form Watt would cause Rye House fans to be worried i would guess not. He isnt getting any better and is only a second string.

Likewise Wolves and Leicester fans (if he signs) should be delighted by Masters and Sedgys performances.

Likewise the Somerset fans must be a little worried about Tungate at the moment.

Im sorry if your to precious to have a debate but when the current champ (a young promising rider on the way up in the sport) is only 7th (and not likely to go higher) then that has to rank as a disappointment.

Im sure if Bartosz Zmarzlik drops down to 9th in the world next year then he will not be happy.

For once it would be nice if you could realise that nobody is criticising your rider, just simply saying he hasnt performed in Australia so far.

He may well fly in the last meeting and win it and i will be straight back on here to say his form has changed, but for now it hasnt.

I thought Fricke, Masters and Kurtz would be the top 3 though i wasnt sure what order, but Sedgy and a resurgent Watt have been outstanding.

And to yourself and the Poole fans who understand what im saying sorry for going off on one.

Apparantly im not allowed to ask if your worried about Brady, and then nobody can seem to answer that without throwing insults.

Surely most fans (Poole included) would expect him to have been higher?

You need to get out more.

  2. I was told by my postman that some of the magazine mail is held back sometimes at the discretion of the sorting office, my star was very haphazard in being delivered until I complained to the local manager, funnily enough it's been as regular as clockwork since then, the only factor which can affect my delivery is bank holidays sometimes making it a day late.

As for the articles I still think most are a good read, clearly when you use a lot of different contributors the standard can vary as in all jobs but overall I think it's good value and having read it for 46 years I don't anticipate giving it up anytime soon.

    Your postie is talking garbage.

  3. All teams will be a bit weaker next season and I like the fact they're using British based riders so far. The only slight concern is that they could be very up and down rather than consistent - some big wins and losses. I also hope Watt improves on the last few years where he's looked very disinterested when behind.

Watt is the key for me so far, if they can get a tune out of him they won't be far away.

Either way I am quite looking forward to popping over to Hoddesdon next season. I met with Steve Jenson earlier this year on a work matter and I've got to say his enthusiasm for Speedway is huge.

  4. I think someone else has mentioned this previously - the old Swansea Greyhound Stadium site is still available as the Council's proposal to use it as a Gypsy/Traveller site met with huge local opposition. I believe the site is in a bad state of repair now, but may be worth considering if the site which the potential promoters have found falls through - possibly a proposal to use it for Speedway would be welcomed by the local residents in case the Council re-introduces the Gypsy/Traveller site proposal and it has the advantage of a huge population in the catchment area.

    Sounds perfect for speedway then...

  5. Get five independent people with knowledge of the sport and let them grade riders 1 - 5. Most riders will slip into one of the five grades easily and for any that don't a vote is taken.

It would prevent anomolies, eg Woffy being considered a 'lesser rider' that Kylmakorpi and also mean no PL/EL conversion nonsense..

Six man teams. (2 fives, and one each from the one to four). Teams could have the option of missing out a 'one to four' level rider and have another from the grade below, eg no grade 1 but two grade 2's etc

There are too many variables in how averages are delivered to be regarded as fit for purpose when team building eg large home track advantage, ringer guests racing in meetings diluting averages of the other riders, falls, engine failures, riders missing (miraculously) meetings at tracks they race poorly on so their average doesn't change, riders doing more meetings than others around the globe which must effect performance and the obvious protected heats distorting the riders true capability..

Go to grading or have a 'free for all' with no limit to team strengths. No team could afford a team of superstars anyway and even if they could, after four or five weeks of watching home teams hammering the opposition crowds would drop through sheer tedium making them definitely not viable..

We on here could plot 90% of the World's riders into five levels with no problem. Leaving the 10% of 'maybe's' to be discussed in more detail..

Don't use something that is so open to manipulation that it's incredible to think it is still used...

There is no such thing as five independent people in speedway. The sport is far too insular for that.

  6. Also seeing Trick trackside makes me think that the GP is somewhat devalued these days

Rickardsson, Crump, Adams, Gollob, Hancock, + Nicki, AJ, Sully, Jarek at their best seems to overshadow today's line up.

Of course the GP needs Emil back and Darcy is sorely missed.

Bang on, this is for me the worst ever GP line up. If Doyle wins it he will be the worst GP series World Champion.

You've even missed out Todd Wiltshire, a pre injury Lukas Dryml and Andy Smith..
