Heat 15, Who Can Replace A Rider Who Breaks The Tapes?
acclennell replied to erniew's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
And both referees were wrong do you really think that the SCB are going to totally change a rule mid season just because George complained. The rule has been amended in clear speak to ensure no misinterpratation but the point is that the rule was misinterprated in the two meetings you mention and to be fair in the Berwick match earlier in the season. They have not 'changed' the rule they have amended the rule in better terms to ensure that the rule is not incorrectly adhered to in future. Well done George for ensuring clarity is brought to the table and to be fair most people were unsure what the rule meant and I for one was dumbfounded when I heard Summers was being brought in as a replacement for an excluded rider. -

He obviously didn't and thats why the SCB have put out this statement after a complaint from George English and to ensure the rule is NOT misinterpreted in future. -

The meeting proves that both were bang on form last night against EL opposition is it not a fair comparison (and also based on the fact that both have been in excellent form on their home track this season) to say that they would have added to the Newcastle total last night - I think most knowledgeable speedway supporters would say yes. Seems your manager was also of the opinion Lambert and Rose missing also weakened Newcastle I wonder why that is . As for the track well Mr Summers obviously didn't have any problems with it. We will probably see in the future when the 2 teams are matched again probably at some point (cup maybe even play-off) - I look forward to it -

Apart from Newcastle not having two of their in form riders last night who scored 18 points away at Wolves which would of meant even steven and an aggregate win for Newcastle and as for the track I have seen poor tracks at Glasgow in my time also (as I have every track)- now lets be consistent in all this before you get carried away. -

Being able to replace a rider who has been excluded with another rider within the main scorers in heat 15 is wrong - however would have made no difference to the result as too many riders did not perform today. MK and DP are a concern at the moment as their form recently has been poor. RL is a class act and I see he is furious with himself after today's performance. Not confident about tomorrow at all as Glasgow have a few Brough specialists in their ranks and we are missing 2 key riders. -

Thing is there are other comps also which we could lose out with - by all accounts we will require 4 riders for Boro away in the league cup which is a must win. What's the way round it don't select riders who are contrcted to EL clubs but as NJC said do you really want then to miss out on seeing RL and SW most weeks. Tough one and I know it's not just Newcastle but we are badly affected as we have 3 riders doubling up. Grumpy tonight after missing out on 4 points -

Unless it's Scunthorpe that track is a curse for us. -

True but it's just so frustrating and the problem is also it's not just one rider but 3 and sometimes more with overseas committments for LL and MK. -

Decent result but so frustrating when with a full team I have no doubt 4 points would have been coming our way and not just 1. Missing 2 riders on Monday and 4 riders on Thursday by all accounts - not good and could end up costing us on all fronts which is a shame - full team out we are a match for everyone but on how many occasions is this going to happen. Well done to Victor on a fantastic performance. -
It has been done in the past though and when a team is missing two of its key members on current form then surely an option. A trophy/qualification for the play-offs can be won or lost on such decisions. Belle Vue have started earlier to enable SW and RW to be able to ride so I see no reason why not.
-
True it has, just think with a key fixture like this, then I wold have attempted to race both legs on the Sunday - maybe George did try this and Glasgow said no. We are clearly a decent team this year but as I said the fact that we are missing key riders in a number of matches could end up shooting ourselves in the foot come the end of the season. It's a difficult one all round and one where British speedway shoots itself in the foot in my opinion.
-
It's a very valid point and one which my come back to haunt at the end of the season. Seems we are missing a combination of key riders in a few meetings this season which is a shame as the team are shaping up very nicely overall. We have held both home and away meeings on the same day in the past though with an earlier start at Glasgow and a later start up here.

Got a sneaky feeling it's Kus and that although everything is agreed with the rider, Boro may be playing hardball

Class, stylish and totally professional act would make my all time diamonds team since 75 with the Owens, Rod, Nikki, Bjarne and my old favourite Derek Richardson - special mentions to Kenneth, Kenni, Robbie Blackadder, Ron Henderson, Bobby Beaton, Mark Thorpe, Jesper, Alan Emerson, David Blackburn boy now those were the days and I could still name another dozen not far off also. Toss of the coin between the 76 and 82 teams as who were the best - one of my biggest wows in speedway was the press and practice day for the 82 team and not believing the team that had been assembled (no announcements in those days you turned up just to find who was in the team for the season) and the team riding through a 'we break the 50 point banner' - happy days.
-
Why didn't you just say that in the first place - LL is pretty splt between a lot of people and I can appreciate that. Hopefully the next 3 signings aill be the final jigsaw as I agree there is a massive opportunity there if the right riders are brought in.

Actually I have been away on holiday and if I have something to say, then I say it as I have done many times before and will do again So stop trying to be a clever tw*t for your cronies and actually try and be constructive when you call people whos views are not the same as yours - which at least I try and do! By the way I have been a season ticket holder at Newcastke for 42 years so it has got nothing to do with being a glory hunter either but as I have said before football is my passion but to fork out also for the speedway team then I want to have at the very minimum a competitive team as I'm not wasting money on supporting two teams going nowhere. As for the team very impressed by 3 riders - not a great LL fan but as long as the other 7 pointer is of a high standard then I can see why he has been kept on. Me personally hoping for RW and LR to complete the team as I then think it will be a very competitive team. If we can manage that or something nearing that quality, then I will be the first to congratulate the promotion and will certainly be back also as a season ticker holder. The team is not complete though yet so I'm still sitting on the fence currently and if that upsets you then tough!
-
But it's not is it and that's the point though as I said 'Superfan' if you don't like it tough don't reply back my post wasn't even aimed at you.
-
You're obviously far too blinkered - it's the likes of me who speedway needs to return to the sport to help it survive - and I will put my attendance record against the vast majority on here also. But you're one of the pack on this forum who whenever sees anybody stating they will not return unless the team is worth seeing and requesting improvement, then trys to play the 'Superfan' card. Thing is though you're a dying breed and that's why speedway is up sh*t creek because thousands of once die hard fans are now staying away throughout the country.
-
Piss off man will you if you don't like what you see then don't respond
-
I have two words to say to you and screm the second word is off and you can take your pick of the first one - it's the likes of me you need to return to speedway and as I have said many of times before if you put a team on the track which is up to it I will.
-
Howay then Dave am I likely to be back next season with what's coming up with the rest of the team as I have went from positive to neutral after today's announcement :-)
-
See there are a lot of people wanting the majority of the team from this year to return - honestly think that would be a big mistake although I wouldn't be surprised if it happened either. Two riders I would have kept from this year are the ones signed up so a good start but think the rest of the team needs to be fresh blood to be competitive in challenging on all fronts - do I think that will happen no but we will see as to be honest I thought LL would have been the first name on George's list but so far no word. George said at the end of last season that there was a requirement of 70 fans to add to the current attendances and I will state now if there 'on paper' looks to be a competitive team I will be back but not if it's the same old same old as the last few seasons.

Who were the rumours then you can't tease like that man and get away with it
