    Witches v Panthers - 8th Sept

Yes, apologies. For some reason I had it in my head that only reserves could take 7 rides, but with RR and a TS he could have had a 7th ride.

    Witches v Panthers - 8th Sept

Who else could he have put in? Basso had 6 rides prior to 15, and Scotty appears to have had 7, not sure if his 2 minute exclusion counts towards his total rides? There must be a rules expert who can confirm whether that is the case. Your only other heat winners were Harris, Jenkins and Kemp

    GRAND PRIX CHALLENGE

Posted by Chris Holder on Instagram, a couple of hours ago. holder_23 Well not the night I was hoping for! started the night decent, track caught me out in my 3rd heat and hit the ground pretty hard, unfortunately took a bike to the back in the process. Busted collarbone, 2 ribs and broke something in my lower back. Still in hospital, find out more this morning. Thanks for all the messages, helps in these tough situations. https://www.instagram.com/p/Chggq_ljwh5/?igshid=YTgzYjQ4ZTY%3D

    GRAND PRIX CHALLENGE

My son works for the ambulance service and immediately spotted the seriousness of the injury. Not good. We’re watching the stream, not at the track.

Some highlights or lowlights depending on who you support:- Heat 1. The Royals gated but Halder picked up some grip coming out of bend 2 on lap 2, he got it down but clouted the fence and came off. In the rerun the Chargers gated and Bowtell couldn't land a blow. Heat 2. King's bike seemed to pack up at the tapes and he was excluded for two minutes. He came back out from 15 but his bike packed up again and he left the track, I think he was officially excluded. Heat 3. Vegre fell trying to go around the outside on bends 1 and 2 on lap 1, excluded. In the rerun Halder gated and led for 2 laps before Scott went under him coming out of bend 2 on lap 3. I do like the look of Scott, he's impressed twice at Iwade. Heat 4. King gated and Morley didn't really need to do much to protect him. Heat 5. The Cheetahs gated and were gone! Heat 8. Clouting moved at the start and was excluded, having been warned in Heat 2. Replaced by Butcher. King fell and got trapped under the fence on bends 1 and 2 and the race was awarded. Nip and tuck up until heat 12 when disaster struck the Royals. King fell on on bend 1 from the start but remounted, meanwhile Verge slipped up the inside of Hagon but then had engine failure going into lap 2. King was closing on Butcher but not really threatening and he then fell again on the 1st bend and was excluded. Verge was also excluded as he wasn't under power at the time the race was stopped. The two Chargers had a two man rerun. Heat 13. Bowtell gates with Jenkins in pursuit, Bowtell well clear when Jenkins gets into bother on bend 1 lap 3 and falls. He was excluded and the race was awarded. Heat 15, Bowtell off 1 and Atkins off 2. They gate together and Bowtell was very hard on Atkins coming out of bend 2, nothing naughty, in my opinion, just hard racing. Atkins dropped to the back. Morley had outgated Jenkins and so the meeting finished with a 5-1 to the Royals. A lot of these riders are new to me as I've only just started attending meetings again, but for Oxford Scott and Atkins impressed and Arran Butcher went about his business quietly and scored well. For Kent, Bowtell and Morley always impress and Connor King looks like he could be a good team member. They're obviously missing Joe Allcock who was riding well before he got injured. Given the weather, it was very very dusty, and as hard as the track man tried he couldn't keep the dust down. I heard him saying to another spectator that he'd put 40k litres of water down last night alone!

There doesn't appear to be. I'm here and will try and post the heat results. I didn't see any appeals for a texter. Anyway, the ambulance hasn't arrived yet. It's not too far away apparently. Racing obviously delayed.

    Premiership Pairs

Well, I enjoyed the meeting. It was a lot of gate and go but the racing improved towards the end. That's the third meeting I've been to this season, and the third one with a long delay! Hoping for better luck at Kent on Sunday. We left Wroxham at 17.45 and arrived just after 19.00 but the journey back was interesting as the A47 was closed so we ended up going everywhere somewhere and via Swaffham. As a one off visit I couldn't really fault it.

Thank you both. We'll be heading off shortly, with suitable layers and cash.

Ok, seriously considering coming to this but haven't been to Kings Lynn since the 70's! We're staying in Wroxham so would be leaving in around an hour. Is that enough time to get there and into the stadium before tapes up. Cash and/or card on the gate? Cash for grandstand transfer and food and drink? How exposed is it in the grandstand? It's nice and sunny in Wroxham at the moment with a gentle breeze, do I need 3 layers? Thanks in advance.

    Killing the sport

My Mrs is away this weekend so I thought I might take a trip to a meeting, but the nearest to me on Saturday is Leicester, a 272 mile round trip. Sunday is even worse, Newcastle is my closest meeting and that's a return trip of 606 miles! Although, I can at least watch the Newcastle match on BSN. Long gone are the days of Arena on a Friday, Canterbury on Saturday and Mildenhall on Sunday (Yes, I know that I'm showing my age)

Am watching both this and GP2. This keeps freezing and the track at Prague is dangerous.

    20.05.22 - Scunthorpe v Newcastle (league, BSN)

He looked good at Kent on Sunday, 3 wins, including 1 over each of the Thompson Twins
  21. Thank you, hopefully it will happen in the future.
  22. Apologies for taking the thread off topic but I've left the stream running and Canal+ are showing a documentary about Tomasz Gollob and his recovery following his moto cross accident. Does anybody know if there's a version of the documentary available with English subtitles?

    Kent 2022

I was there on Sunday, my first live speedway for a few years. I went with my son and we stood on the back straight just at the exit of bend 2. It was my first visit to Iwade, although I'd been an occasional visitor to Central Park. Given that the track has been a training track for a good number of years I wasn't expecting the facilities to be up to much, that's not a criticism it's just a fact. We didn't have to use the loo or buy food although we did have a cup of coffee and a bottle of water from the small café just by the pits. No issues with either. We had no real problems hearing the tannoy, once we'd got used to the level, I wear two hearing aids and my hearing is flakey at the best of times but I was able to pick up the race times without too much problem.. I enjoyed being close to the action, although it was very dusty. The sunny and windy weather didn't help with the track preparation, and maintenance. The track was watered before heat 13 and by the time the race had completed, due to the 2 reruns, it was bone dry again. We certainly took our fair share of dust home with us. The racing was entertaining, Alfie Bowtell stood head and shoulders above everybody else although from where we were standing he looked a little fortunate to not be excluded in heat 10. I liked the look of Ben Trigger for Lakeside, he looks a good prospect. Yes, the meeting did take too long to complete, and it was fortunate that it was a pleasant day. Having said that I'm sure that the promotion will get on top of the technical issues and the next meeting will run much smoother. We will be back, unfortunately we can't be there on 1st May but will be there on 15th. My relationship with live speedway has been rekindled.

Kent kings are no more ??

I refereed at Central Park not long after it opened, a couple of Kent Youth League games. One thing I can tell you is that the pitch was at the upper limit of length but the facilities were first class. That must have been at some point around 1994 or 1995.
