we will probably see the outcome of all those beach bums ,street party folk  , and ignorant football fans doing their bit to make sure the UK  falls flatly on its ass when the covid springs back into life in a month or so .

S.D. down to 1mtr , thats a bad move . U.S.A. deaths now over 122,000 and rising by the day . a nugget in charge who plays more golf and spends more time looking at stocks n shares than he does running the country !

all our lives on this planet will be gone . remember when its gone ,its gone . never to return .

the U.K. will have its second spike of this virus in about 2/3 months time . (Merry Christmas)

speedway , forget it .it will be lucky to return in 2022 never mind 2021 .

You seem to be one of those operating in the belief that nobody died before Covid-19.

15 riders so they all start equally, so have a 1 in 15 chance of winning, Say for instance in the 1st round of heats in the 1st GP  Lindgren, Woffinden, Madsen and Zmarzlik all got injured and were out for the season. You could say its highly unlikely but stranger things happen so who would win the World Title then ?  I can tell you who will, one of the others ! but nobody knows which one, just as nobody knows who out of the 15 will win.

Please share this wisdom with the bookmakers, so we can all get rich.

It was some 45 years ago that the scrapbook belonging to Mrs Dorothy Charles Batson became 'lost in the post.' Off hand I do not recall if Adam Faith, Marty Wilde and Cliff Richard (no S to surname!) were mentioned. If they visited the Wimbledon speedway in the 1950s-70s era they may well have featured. What I do recall is that the scrapbook carried references to many speedway riders - Norman Parker, Ronnie Moore, Barry Briggs etc are names that I recall were featured. I wish that I could be more helpful regarding your inquiry and apologise for that lapse on my part.

I'm intrigued by the metion of messrs Norman Parker, Ronnie Moore and Barry Briggs. What level of success did they achieve in the world of sprint cars speedway?

Jens Rasmussen married a local girl which, of course, added some strength to his case when he was signed by Rye House in 1988. Olle Nygren and Soren Sjosten married local girls which enable them to compete in Britain during 1974 when commuting Swedes were banned from the British League as they were both domiciled in the UK at the time.

Do you mean local to Jens Rasmussen and his place of abode or local to yourself. Is this local place a common haunt for speedway riders given the other two examples?

Here is a list of English towns and I don't see one called local.

Here is a link to the website of Jens Rasmussen:

Wondering about the number of foreign riders who came over and got married in the UK and/ or married a local woman ? Vic Huxley brought this to mind as I think he married a local ‘dancer’ . Cordy Milne did. marry a famous burlesque ‘dancer’ but she was American. But think brother Jack at least got married in London though not sure if it was to a local lady

Could you define the term 'dancer' and why you have enclosed it so.

But far better than anything you'll ever see at Cardiff.  Wembley at least never needed to be booby-trapped to manufacture overtaking.

I think you'll find the vast majority who go to Cardiff go late on and cant be doing with the whole "day out" myth.  And the NSS is hardly out in the sticks.  It's a short bus ride or train ride into Manchester - a far better and more vibrant city than Cardiff.

Been on the beer again I see.... or something stronger.

I'm not suggesting the NSS is a better stadium than Cardiff.  However, the NSS is a far better track (its arguably the best track in the world) and is based in a far better city.

You can manufacture Cardiff with bunting and glamour as much as you like, but speedway is all about the racing, and Cardiff repeatedly disappoints in that aspect.

Yet for many their best ever meeting is Wembley 81, where the racing was not that good.

A full Belle Vue (which produces a great atmosphere if that's so important to you) or a Cardiff that has swathes of empty seats cunningly hidden by having no tv cameras fixed on it?  I know which one would look better to the casual viewer

    Cardiff.

    End of conversation.

SCB, Yes I heard rumours he is back on the BSF, but I can't find a possible new user name for him. I note he still updates his British Speedway stats file, which is a great site when you require info.

Can't see it, he would stand out surely?

Because in football and rugby you have 80 - 90 minutes of action to watch, in speedway you have about 15 minutes and around 90 minutes standing around doing nothing

Whilst understanding your point, that's not correct.

    Football is 55-60 minutes
Rugby Union is around 35 minutes

Not the SGP.  Just Cardif, when there is a venue that would showcase the sport in a more exciting way than Cardiff can ever hope to do

Banging this idiotic drum again are you?

No event in the UK comes close to showcasing the sport in a better light that Cardiff does.

NSS is a better race track, but that is only a small part of it.

For starters you're ruling out 30,000 from attending.. smart business sense!

Danish theatres have opened with 500 cap, so I reckon we will see some speedway this year. Clubs that want to run will need to have an online ticketing service, don't want people being turned away at the gate.

That relies on the public getting over their 'fear' and protesting every relaxation.

Danes are also back at school, but there is a large resistance in the UK towards it.

I have heard on the radio news that at least two large Universities have said that all teaching for the 2020/21 year ending in June 2021 will be web based as they think that social distancing will still be in place! That could really cause problems to all sports, concerts and life in general!

Have you not got the 'new normal' message?

You are right of course to a certain extent, but does lockdown prevent cancer and heart disease in the same way it does Covid-19 spreading? How many would have died from Covid-19 without strict rules on isolation and distancing? The figures you give are not really comparable.

No, but it causes a lot more.

Now over 60,000 people in the UK alone should have been diagnosed with cancer during this period.. and haven't been. The clock is ticking for them sadly.

Not sure where you got that idea from, but I will give you some stats.

91,000 Americans have died from Covid-19.

640,000 Americans die from cancer - every year.

647,000 Americans die from heart disease - every year.

The vast majority (over 90%) of deaths from Covid-19 have been over 65 and/or suffering from underlying health conditions.

These are not indicators of a disease that is likely to threaten civilisation.

Nobody died before, don't you understand that!

    Jesus, some people.

All the more remarkable that Hans achieved an average of 11.03 in 1988 and 10.91 in 1989 when both those criterias were in operation. Just demonstates the force he was during the eighties.

Agreed, although the big hitting Heat 13 wasn't in place for 88 and 89.

The other riders to achieve 11+ averages since no fixed gates and nominated riders races in place.

Ermolenko in 1993 with 11.12... this was a season where heat leaders didn't race reserves. 11 team league.
    Crump in 2006 - 11.21  .. 11 team league (Heat 13 in operation)
    Adams in 2008 - 11.04 ... 9 team league (Heat 13 in operation)

  17. For sports with spectators to resume we have to reach Alert Level 1.

The condition for Alert Level 1 is "Covid-19 no longer present in the UK".

If they stick to that, there is no speedway this year.. or next year... in fact in reality... I'll let you fill in the rest.

I see that the government is discussing exemption from 14 days isolation for international sports competitors, specifically footballers and F1 but maybe it will apply for speedway riders too?

Of course, and no doubt the 'rich'.

Apologies for accusing you of bringing it up. The rest of my post stands.

No it doesn't after I have clarified my contempt for anyone flouting the rules.

It is not 'my view' that the NHS is not snowed under. Another fabrication on your part. It is a fact that the NHS is not snowed under, hence the government beginning to make plans for easing lockdown restrictions.

And I understand that you have your views BUT the NHS was not mentioned in the statement. You chose to bring it up, because it suits your arguments that are massively well documented on another thread (which you are totally entitled to do)

My point was by linking it to the NHS you were covertly implying that because the NHS is not snowed under (your view) it's OK to break the Forestry Commission rules.

Sadly symptomatic of many nowadays. The rules only apply if they want them to.

My view and I'm sticking to it:P

I didn't reply to the statement, I replied to Secsy's post who mentioned the NHS in his very first line. So it wasn't me that brought it up.

I have made it abundantly clear my that I don't condone the breaking of any forestry commission rules.

If you wish to concoct fantasies, go ahead.. to quote you.. "Sadly symptomatic of many nowadays".
