    Speedway Referee Numbers In Decline

Only seems a few years ago that the SCB were saying that they'd got more than enough refs. With Graham Reeve retiring from the SCB, I guess another senior ref will be leaving the ranks and moving upstairs to replace him. Shame to see Dave Dowling and Dale Entwistle go. They both seemed good blokes. Don't know much about Dan Holt. The one they do need to cull is Dave Robinson.

Belle Vue V Poole Elb 12/09/16 Sky Meeting

Yes it does. It doesn't apply to the home No.1 Because as you say he was riding for his own club last night, not guesting.
  3. So they had an interval at heat 10, then Harris fell in heat 11 causing another break.... so everyone then gets in a time machine and go back to cancel the original interval?

Belle Vue V Poole Elb 12/09/16 Sky Meeting

Makes no difference whichever way around. He's only guesting once in 8 days as per the rules.
  5. Quite right....Chris Harris should have has his ribs treated in the first break....before he crashed and damaged his ribs.
  6. Quite right. I'll have a word with Chris Harris and ask him to only crash and break ribs directly before the interval, so as to avoid 2 stoppages.
  7. You're right. It's shocking that once a year they have an interval while the riders go amongst the crowd to do a collection for the Speedway Riders' Benevolent Fund. How dare they keep people waiting in the awful modern grandstand seats while they collect money for ex-riders who just sit in the comfort of their wheelchairs. You should write a letter of complaint to the Speedway Star. Equally shocking. Holding up a meeting while a rider gets treatment for broken ribs? Never happened in the good old days.

    Wolverhampton V Poole. Elb. 5/9/17

Yes, that's what we're talking about. Fat Maud thinks he has the choice to drop Kurtz to reserve, but the rules say that Pedersen must stay at reserve.

    Wolverhampton V Poole. Elb. 5/9/17

The green sheet averages on the BSPA website show that Kurtz must ride in the main body and Pedersen at reserve. http://www.speedwaygb.co/files/downloads/el16_issue_27.pdf Look at the asterisks against Kurtz and Pedersen's name showing the hierarchical order. Kurtz is higher Let's hope that Craig Ackroyd is on the ball tonight and applies the rules properly
  10. Belle Vue are one of the few who put on second halves on a fairly regular basis, so you'll probably see about 21 heats. Doubt you'll see many one sided heats on that track, racing has been excellent on the times I've been. Reckon it will be a fairly comfortable home win though.

Poole Vs Belle Vue 1st September 2016

And Wolves will go back on top on Monday when Agent Nicholls guests for Andersen and lets Wolves win.

Poole Vs Belle Vue 1st September 2016

Fingers should have names like toes do. Then we'd know if it was the one that had a sugar butty or the one that had none.

Bicycle Race... with the naked women cyclists if I remember rightly

Good god, is he/she a tranny? If you're going to do a pop video at Plough Lane I prefer Queen.
  15. How did that go then?

At 12.20pm today you knew nothing.

    Nl Pairs... Who's Pulled Out?

What are you on about? Forecast is dry all afternoon. A 30-40% chance of light showers 7pm-8pm. http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/public/weather/forecast/u12k15uws
  18. Not one to let you down. Team Boss Jason Pipe is putting no pressure on his side. ‘I'll be telling all the boys to just go out there and enjoy racing their bikes without any pressure on their shoulders. All the lads are looking forward to Sunday's meeting. They know it's going to be hard but Speedway is full of surprises. I just want to see all the boys go out and enjoy themselves and I want to see happy smiling faces throughout the meeting, irrespective of the score. I'm sure it will be a good entertaining meeting for the spectators who attend. It's disappointing that we have to go in to the meeting without our captain Ryan Blacklock. As this being a rearranged fixture and Ryan having family commitments, it just can't be helped. Lee Dicken will deputise as captain in Ryan's absence. I'm please that we can give a guest booking to Rob Shuttleworth on Sunday. I've followed Rob since he first started out in speedway and it's good to witness his progress from when he started,to now. Rob is the type of rider I like and wouldn't hesitate to have him on board full time if he was ever available. He asked me last season, if I was ever in need of a guest and he fitted the bill, then I shouldn't hesitate and ask him. I like riders like that who come to me wanting rides if at all possible. It's always much more impressive to a team manager or promoter when a rider approaches you, rather than you chasing riders. Rob always rides well at Buxton and I'm sure he'll continue that on Sunday and enjoy himself with a few points for himself and the team at the same time. Let's hope the weather is kinder to us this week and the fans go home having witnessed a great meeting.’

National Speedway Stadium - Too Sanitized?

What puzzles me is why people make such a fuss about it. Aren't they capable of going a couple of hours without the constant need to stuff their face? If I go to a fairly local track I'll tend to have my meal before I go. If I travel a distance to a meeting I'll tend to stop somewhere for a bite to eat on the way. On the odd occasion I'm in a rush I've always been able to buy a can of coke and a hot dog or something at the track. I've never thought to give them Egon Ronay stars, but I've never actually died at a speedway meeting through lack of food. I might be the odd one out, but I go to speedway to watch racing, not to constantly stuff my face all night. Similarly if I go out for a meal, I don't want bikes racing round my table.

    Nl Pairs... Who's Pulled Out?

Group A - Cradley (Clegg & Morris), Eastbourne (Ellis & Knight), IOW (Cockle & Baseby), King's Lynn (Greaves & Bailey), Mildenhall (Armstrong & Halsey) Group B - Belle Vue (Bewley & Williamson), Birmingham (Hume and Ritchins), Kent (Ayres & Shanes), Rye House (Branford & Morley), Stoke (Wilson & Phillips)
  21. Looks like Greg Hancock isn't riding for USA tonight as he can't be arsed bringing bikes over for one meeting wants to let a younger rider get the experience. Thank god GB have got a loyal leader like Tai Woffinden and not someone who lets the fans down like Hancock.

So Who Is Going To Win The El In 2016?

Belle Vue know they have got the beating of Wolves, so there must be a temptation to pick their nearest challengers and knock them out in the semis. But Swindon with all their Aussies are the strongest visitors to Manchester, so I would let Wolves take on Swindon and try to get them out of the way. Belle Vue should take on whichever other team scrapes through to the play-offs, Lakeside/Poole and put them out. That should hopefully leave Wolves for the final who they know they can easily beat, and who are also the nearest geographical rivals and will bring the most travelling support

    Kent Out Of Nl Fours

It went to the top 8 teams on league position. So it should now go to Isle of Wight who were next in line.
