    Charlie Webster

Those of you who take issue with Charlie's stance clearly are remote from the effect this horrendous crime has on victims, their immediate families, their careers, education, mental and physical health. They no longer have the ability to enjoy and benefit from from a trusting, loving relationship. Social interaction becomes an ordeal, they hide behind closed doors and drawn curtains, an unplanned knock from a caller or visitor sends them into blind panic, shopping, a visit to the Doctors or Dentist cannot be done unaccompanied. Without boring everyone life never is and can never be the same or normal and I relate this to a victim who has suffered for 30 years and another for 24. One had the audacity to help someone who said they were lost and gave them directions the other accepted a lift from a colleague both have never forgiven themselves for being honest enough to trust someone in both cases in safe environments, as far as both are concerned they were the guilty party themselves and all the counselling and medication hasn't changed a thing. I despair at this forums understanding of Speedway matters at times. Beyond Speedway posters really should refrain from any comment that has consequences on someone else. Charlie is human like the rest of us but has done more for her causes in spite of her critics and abusers and really doesn't need to be a victim again, she is a very, very brave woman. Charlie Webster has openly "come out" as a victim of sexual abuse, can you for even a second imagine how bold and courageous that is given some of the above. Criticism of a victim of sexual abuse amounts to condonding the actions of the perpetrator in my opinion.
  4. And you wondered why I called you a knobhead, not on here of course!
  5. No that £100k included his own investment,he was looking to raise sufficient working capital to take it beyond 2015 and required additional investors to share the pain of rebuilding it and to give suppliers who had been let down some comfort and once in the Mole will never default whatever the circumstances.
  6. The GRA will no longer deal with someone they cannot trust at Perry Barr which really does narrow down the options for survival. Regardless of the obstacles the Mole will find a way of over coming them if they can be overcome. The only thing I know he has failed at is pacifying some of the petty cynics who snipe away on forums because the man is a business man and not a frigging charity. Keep on Martin and you might just be the final nail in the coffin that buries Speedway in Birmingham for good. Just who the **** do you think you are?

    Helmet Cams

The French journalist who linked Michael Schumacher's head injuries to the GoPro camera he was wearing when the accident took place has backtracked on his comments, insisting it was "his opinion". Jean Louis Moncet, a well-known Formula 1 journalist in France, initially claimed the camera was "part of the problem" and seemed to suggest he had spoken to Schumacher's son, Mick, who presumably passed on the details. Shares in GoPro, the American wearable camera maker, plunged on Monday as investors reacted to the comments, which raised safety concerns about the device that is usually attached to the helmet. 8. Do not overlook the fact that the National Development League is as much about track time for developing talent as it is winning. Jim like many of his colleagues in the ASR hold a belief that they should exercise tolerance at this level not withstanding the furore from the other element of fans who would scream the place down if he had had the audacity to disqualify a young British rider who was only learning his craft. Come on how many of you bellyached when the 2 minute rule was rigidly enforced and how many bellyached because it wasn't? Whoever is in charge cannot possibly please everyone so I would give him a medal as big as a frying pan and compliment him for his restraint and desire to; make sure the public were entertained with 4 riders, make sure the relevant spice between two fierce competitors was maintained (in the interests of the paying public) and that the competitors were able to benefit from the track time and pitting their skills against each other. Now with the benefit of hindsight those that knock the referee would make a different decisions to him, I wonder how many meetings that happens at?

    The Decline Of British Speedway

I hope I haven't misunderstood but if you are suggesting for one second that Woffy might be using illegal kit then you really have produced a post that is the lowest of the low. If you knew this kid you would understand exactly how he became world champion and to be absolutely frank it's got next to F A to do with bikes. Have I misunderstood, please tell me I have j arthur!

    Plrc 21/09

It's ever so simple, those clubs who do not commit their riders to national shared events do not receive a penny shareout from any event and face a mandatory scale fine for each rider. For example no shareout and £3,000 fine qed

Hopes For The Pl In 2015

Without wishing to offend you wouldn't it be nice if supporters were forced to watch up and comers progress. You clearly do but so often there is a distinct lack of interest from everyone in the sport including fans when it comes to junior racing.

    Birmingham - The Future?

Your points are of course reasonable but not proven by previous entrepreneurial actions I am in my late sixties and have pumped a small fortune to help riders and clubs over the years. When promoting or marketing a product or service you have to look at the market potential. There are three market conditions to consider, a declining market, a static market and a growing market and which you invest in. Clearly everyone invests in a growing market for obvious reasons and protecting your share of a static market requires careful investment but to invest in a declining market can only have one outcome. Since 2007 Speedway attendance's have been in steady decline now don't look to blame anyone individual or body it is a fact for whatever reason. That decline has been influenced by the economic trends not necessarily the BSPA or your local Promotion so in that cruel market the opportunities to succeed are very limited indeed. Now you may be disappointed that my realistic and qualified opinion isn't what you desire but harsh reality rarely is. Timing and market conditions are absolutely critical when it comes to a growth challenge, I don't wish to appear condescending Nigel but the expertise to achieve what you would like to see just isn't in British Speedway in a sufficient capacity to make a difference. Most of those who have had those skills have been dissed or driven out of the sport. Regards.

Elite League The End Is Nigh ?

You're right instead of Speedway Promoters asking for rent holidays and spread payments to keep there club going they should be chucking the towel in and acknowledging that the stadiums are worth more as housing even if it takes 10 years to get the facility outside the unitary plan like Long Eaton and Cradley. I take it for granted that you are but could you explain to the members exactly what kind of d*ckhead you are?

    Birmingham - The Future?

The Mole, CVS and to some extent the Machin business model maintains viable speedway and more importantly sustainable speedway. All of the bright ideas brigade have blown their combined three pennies due to relative inexperience, poor advice, too much ambition too soon and again to some extent too much money to invest which has led to a higher burn rate. There can have been no greater attempt to modernise the sport and attract new customers than Nigel Wagstaff and Brian Griffin at Kings Lynn. Steve Purchase at Oxford also made brave attempts to change the status quo and no one has invested more in the sport by way of marketing and promotion than Rick Frost and Julie Mahoney. Stuart Douglas has survived his investment in Lakeside but will tell you it's been one of the toughest challenges he has ever been involved with and whilst he is a fan at heart he put experience in place partnering JC but as an entrepreneur will tell you he is mystified as to why some of the initiatives haven't worked to bring consistent improvement in crowd numbers. Lakeside at times gets fantastic TV coverage across London and the South. The reality is there isn't a magic formula, as much as I despise the untruths in this weeks comic Alan Phillips has poured a small fortune into marketing and promoting Birmingham and if ever there was a recent testimony to indicate that the opportunity to bring new punters in isn't realistic then Brum are that example. I will knock him for not being entire!y honest but one thing he got right was to try and bring new people in, the fact that he failed is a mirror of all those promotions I have mentioned and not Alan Phillips. Please just be careful what you wish for Nigel as you could face an open and shut scenario on a regular basis.
  17. This will be subject to the terms and conditions of the lease agreement with the GRA, as I understand it the reinstatement clause was removed when perpetual planning consent was granted. This would usually be replaced by a static clause of rights of the landowner. As such any modifications or improvement have to be approved in writing by the landlord and remain his property by right. It is not uncommon for a landlord to own the right to any betterment but be in a position to claim against the Tennant if the actions jeopardise the value of the property. One of the perils of commercial renting
  18. Just how cooking naive can you be they have made the biggest borrox of running Birmingham. Any one who thinks they have half a chance please get real. They will never ever be involved in the running of a speedway again. For one minute I dont believe there was a plan to deliberately deliver them into the jaws of administration but at some point business owners have to accept that it ain't working which only leaves them denial or insolvency to address their problem.
  19. Until all of the debts to riders, clubs, officials, insurance, BSPA, SCB and any other internal speedway dues are paid the outgoing promotion will never be in a position to stage a meeting again. Young Mr Phillips would be well advised to send his £25,000 to the BSPA so that they can pay some of the bills that he and his father haven't. Where do you think the £25,000 might have come from ffs? Has the man no moral responsibility to the people he already owes? If I was Ben Barker I'd be knocking on young Phillip's door for my wages out of that £25,000!!!!! DON'T get caught again by being gullible! It's an open secret that the club was sold to Tony Mole before the AGM and then Alan decided to give it another go openly declaring that he had the funds in place to see Birmingham through to 2015. Only a few weeks ago another bold statement that the club had no debt's, well I know 3 suppliers who had not been paid for weeks when that statement was made and no doubt Chris Simpson will confirm he was owed at that time too. The Phillips' have been in denial for too long and as desperate as people are to keep Birmingham open it cannot be in collusion with the buffoons who have taken it to the precipice. Get real folks do you really trust the fox to look after your chickens?

Not quite but it doesn't take a lot of looking through your posts and others responses to work that out. A bit like the post after yours looking like your unnamed shareholder, you know the one that is pulling the strings and the post after that looking like one of your sponsors. I think it was Elephantman that mentioned mishandled so carrying on your business under pseudonyms on a public forum is the way to go is it?

I don't think it's any secret how bitter Machin is towards the BSPA but to turn on his Co-promoter like this after a moment of light hearted banter to raise a few quid for charity is despicable. Anyone who has had the remotest of contact with the SRBF knows just how much work Hoggy has put in to contribute. I'll bet his auctions have raised a five figure sum over the years and knowing what I know about him every penny of this stunt would have been heading to our injured riders. Shameful and sad.

    Birmingham 2014

Tony Mole was told he'd bought it last week only for the encumbants to change their minds! Think you will find the GRA are more concerned than riders, once they're squared who knows, even though they need the revenue they have been burnt plenty by Speedway Promoters except Mole. You are correct but I think you will find the BSPA have been working to keep Brum in business in the mistaken belief that new Promoters were coming in.

Which is why he gave the instruction to liquidate the club in the summer!
