Can't argue with your logic, though I do wonder if many, like me have come and had a quick glance in the individual sect and PL sect of the forum and assumed there just wasnt a thread started yet for this meeting.
It seems there are two or three threads now!
-
Why is this thread in the u15's section when its about, or what I'm assuming is, an individual meeting which will be made up of riders from both the EL and PL all of which are on the wrong side of 15 to be in this section of the forum!?
Great to see new ideas being put into practice for bringing on the future of British speedway with a venture like this and hope it pays dividends in years to come!
I was tempted to post it in every section but didn't want to incur the wrath of the mods - as the meeting is to raise money to support the youngsters I posted it here!

From the BSPA site
Exciting plans are being put in place as work begins on finding a new generation of British Speedway talent.
Part of this will see the cream of British stars from the Elite and Premier League competing at Somerset on Friday October 29 in the 'Bring on the Brits (BOB)' meeting.
And all proceeds from the event will go towards funding for all future Youth speedway events.
The project is the brainchild of the British Youth Training Team of Phil Morris, Neil Vatcher, Graham Reeve and Graham Jones, who as well as helping the country's young riders with their racing, will be also working on other aspects of their training.
Under-21 team manager Phil Morris is convinced that Britain's got talent and that the Youth Development team can help nurture their undoubted ability.
He said: "We have been impressed with our Under-15 riders and think it's now time to help the British lads out even more.
"This includes setting up an Academy for the best youngsters so we can work on all aspects of their racing programme; not just riding the bike, but also the fitness, nutrition, psychology and mechanical side of the game.
"Britain has been crying out for more big stars and ultimately another World Champion, so it's important that we put the foundations in place at an early stage and help them to maximise their potential. We believe our training programme will assist with that.
"Riders for the meeting at the Oak Tree Arena will be confirmed over the next few weeks, but in the meantime we are looking for everyone to get fully behind the BOB campaign!"

A well-deserved championship for Tomasz.
After a slow start in the first GP (in Poland to give the lie to any home-country conspiracy theories), nine double-figure scores (three in the 20s) tell their own story.
Jason Crump's 10-year record is something to savour too.
It would have been nice to have seen the final race on Sky last night............ :-(

Anyone know how the Young Stars got on in their part of this double header? Couldn't see any updates on the updates forum...

Why did Sweden not use Linus Sundstrom on a Tactical ride in Heat 10. Don't they want to win
2 3/4 hours for 10 heats of a 25 heat meeting - could be a long night!

A race-off for 1st place too
-
I understand that Peterborough only had a podium and trophy for the winners too,so didn't recognize the efforts of the second and third place teams, if that was the case it was a bit of a poor show when put together with all the extra charges imposed on the meeting.
It was the usual three-tier podium, but only one team appeared.
-
ML, a few posters have tried to blow up a storm in a tea cup. Yes Fisher should have been excluded, but he just lost control - I certainly don't think there was any intent. There were another couple of riders who got into trouble after lifting on the second bend, Fisher just managed to do it whilst David Howe was outside him.
If anything I'd be more concerned with what happened after the final race of the afternoon. Fisher beat Masters in the race for the chequered flag, but then pulled across the track on the first bend as he slowed. If left no room for Masters, who took quite a pearler into the air fence. Fortunatley I think Masters was largely OK. Again no malice, but a moment of lack of concentration from Fisher - a very nast accident could happen that way.
All the best
Rob
I thought Fisher shut-off on the line (frustration?) as Masters was still racing to the finish.
-
Good meeting today - with Birmingham worthy winners, they had the best balanced team.
Reckon it was a good collection for the Ben Fund as well, so thanks to everyone who gave today.
All the best
Rob
It would have been better still Rob, but no-one came to our part of the Grandstand.

Beautiful morning in Peterborough!
-
Prepare to be disappointed again - the 12.30am recording I have starts with an hour of rugby and ends just after the Gollob/Sayfutdinov incident..........
Where do we see Heats 17-20 and the finals now?
-
I agree that speedway isn't in a position to call the shots, but to prevent access to all Virgin subscribers is taking Sky's competitiveness to a new low.
I had a houseful of friends round this evening, and laid on food to enjoy the GP with both long-term fans and 'newbies'.
What a waste of effort, we ended up watching the Somerset match from Monday only to find that that transmission chopped off on the last bend of Heat 15!
Oh well, just goes to prove that there's no substitute for live racing - off to the Showground tomorrow weather permitting.
-
Great racing, and typical of the standard in the National League. Those who haven't seen a NL meeting yet - you are missing a treat!

Whilst i am not privy to what rent anyone pays for Mildenhall Speedway, surely there has to be a way forward, between Mr Coventry and any prospective promoter..and this lies in what rent is paid to the stadium owner.
Mr Mascalls figures indicate the crowd figures for this year are 300+ average. That brings in an income of £3000 riders have to be paid the minimum of what? £5 per point for an average of 90 points for two meetings 1 home 1 away, thats £450 quid for 2 meetings, now i have no idea what the mileage allowance is these days, i am sure someone will tell us, but just say we pay each rider £40 per meeting x 7 riders x 2 meetings this equates to £560 travel expences, so the costs of covering two meetings for the riders alone would be aprox £1110 even if £10 per point was paid, which i am sure some teams dont, it would then come to £1560, so that leaves just under £1500 to cover rentals and other costs, if a figure of say £750 per meeting was paid minimum; based on an attendance of 250, <this would be the critical figure> and a sliding scale then brought in of say £50 for every 10 spectators over and above that figure, plus the Stadium gets the Bar takings, Introduce a Car Park Charge £2 per Car 50/50 Speedway and Stadium.
I am sure if something along those lines were introduced then Speedway could survive at Mildenhall, obviously there has to be trust between the Promotion and Stadium owner, but that has to be the way forward long term..
I am sure the Greyhounds at Mildenhall dont get anywhere near that figure for crowds, especially mid week, but they seem to survive, and whilst i dont know what prize money levels are for the greyhounds, i am sure they must pay out at least £30 per race x 10 races per meeting = £300..admission to the greyhounds is probably £6 with probably 150 max there on a saturday, and a good attendance mid week would be 100, just add up and compare...
The problem is "the other costs":
From memory and not a definitive list:
Insurance
BSPA fees
Referee fees
Programme printing
Medical cover
Track prep and machinery

Fantastic score for Jake Knight! Been happy with his scoring this season, even though I've not been to an NL meeting since, er, April? Good to see he's still going OK.
It was a milestone night for Jake. He rode at No 3 for his first heat-leader slot, and took Black and White for a tactical ride and rode in Heat 15 both for the first time. Add in a rider replacement ride in Heat 1 and that score looks even more impressive!
Well done Jake
