  1. Last night was one of the most enjoyable meetings I have ever attended, and I can only echo almost everything said above.

Those of you who were at the meeting had a treat, those who weren’t should make a real effort to attend the next one to see what you missed.

Angela and I were proud to play a small part in getting the meeting on, and Buster’s contribution was crucial. In the end though, without riders there is no meeting, and in this case without parents there are no riders!

Last night saw 13 keen riders supported by 13 dedicated families. They were all well-presented, professional and got on with the job, with no histrionics, gardening or showboating. Just 13 great riders – all a pleasure to work with.

There seems to be growing chorus that this is the future for British speedway. The number of venues that can stage a meeting such as this is limited, but in my opinion we should make every effort to see these events multiply. Last night must not be a one-off!

I have made no secret of my wish to be involved in making meetings like this a regular event and I know I’m not alone. Please keep posting your thoughts here so that we can keep the momentum going.

  2. I shall be there, plumping for this meeting over Norwich v QPR!

Looking forward to the youngsters putting on a good show.

I hope the fans come out in force for this meeting, and generous thanks should go to Buster & Jonathan for setting the admission at such a bargain rate.

I wouldn't miss it for the world and am bringing along a few 'new-to-speedway' guests as part of our sponsorship.

  4. Thanks Stuart Road and Neil Watson for clarifying the tie breaks. I was aware of the system for the traditional individual meeting, heat wins, seconds etc, but wondered how they sorted who went into which semi. If it isnt 1st, 4th,6th and 7th and 2nd,3rd,5th and 8th in the next GP i'll be totally confused !!

The race formula is fixed so you shouldn't be confused!

Riders placed 1st, 4th, 6th and 7th in the intermediate classification will take part in

    Semi-final 1 (Heat 21).

Riders placed 2nd, 3rd, 5th and 8th in the intermediate classification will take part in Semi-final 2 (Heat 22).

  5. The method for deciding ties is as follows:

When establishing the order between the riders in the list of Intermediate

Classification at the conclusion of Heat 20, or following the completion of the

Semi-Final Heats 21 and 22, any ties will be solved as follows :

    a) Precedence will be given to the riders (tied on race points) having the most

number of 1st, 2nd, 3rd or 4th placings (a “0” for last placing is better than

    being disqualified for whatever reason).

b ) If the tie still persists and involves only 2 riders, precedence will be given to

the better placed rider in the heat or heats where the 2 riders met.

    c) If the tie still persists and involves more than 2 riders, it shall be checked

whether there is a possibility to determine a proper precedence (e.g.

    3 riders tied on points : A, B, C :

rider A has beaten rider B

rider A has beaten rider C

rider B has beaten rider C

Then the precedence will be : best position for rider A, then rider B and then

    rider C.

    d) If solutions a), b ) and c) cannot resolve the tie, then the lowest riding

number jacket will be deemed the better placed rider.

  6. i wondered if it could count for Hans now? beacuse hes officially replaced Tony R, so why shouldnt his points count? I understand when he was just the wild card that they couldnt count..... but now isnt he officially a GP rider?

    And he qualified anyway...!

Wild Card riders, the Qualified Reserve riders, the Track Reserve riders and any

substitute riders who have participated in the year's Championship, as they are

not taken into consideration (my emphasis), shall determine the riders' qualifications for the next

    year's Championship as follows :

The top 8 riders of the Final Overall Grand Prix Classification of that year

shall be directly qualified for the following year’s Grand Prix Series.

    • The top 3 riders from the FIM Speedway Grand Prix qualification

system shall be directly qualified for the following year’s Grand Prix
