    I Really Need Someone's Help.

I know one of you will be able to help me with this. After the amazing response we got from our Milton Keynes Knights website (which is our first attempt and pretty basic), we have decided to do a more proffessional version and instead of just our own photo's the new one will have statistics, biographies etc. I need the complete MK rider avarages for the following seasons 1982,83,84,86,87,88,& 91. If anyone has the speedway yearbooks for 83,84,85,87,88,89 & 92 i wonder if i could ask a favour ?, if possible you scan the MK averages page and e-mail it to me at trelawnytiger@aol.com ?. I would be more than happy to credit you efforts. Thanks in advance Chris

  8. I have to say i thought it was fantastic to see Jason Crump being the first one to congratulate the swedes on the podium. A true sporting gesture, well done Jason.

    Will Middlo step down??

There is only so much you can do with limited resources. Keep up the good work and better luck with availability next year Neil.

    Floppy makes the squad

I really could not agree more !.
  11. I think Gjedde at reserve could prove to be a really good move and i'm also VERY impressed that the Danish management have shown faith in their younger riders by putting Iversen and Gjedde in the starting line-up.

    Floppy makes the squad

Can i start by saying I'm as patriotic as anyone, and i'll be cheering for Teab GB whoever rides. HOWEVER, what happened to all the young up and coming riders that 'supposedly' were to be given a chance due to Nicholls, Loram and Richardson being GB's ONLY world class riders ?. What have we done ?, picked more riders who are closer to the end of their career's rather than taking a bold step and thinking ahead. :x

    Your 1st Meeting

Aug / Sept 1978 Milton Keynes Knights vs Edinburgh Monarchs, 39-39. I had been trying to get my dad to take me to Speedway all through this 1st season as i'd only seen it on T.V. up to then. As i went through the turnstiles (60p if i remember correctly) the riders were on the parade lap and as they did not wear helmets during the parade, the first sight i saw was Bert Harkins waving to the crowd wearing his 'Tamoshanter ?' (is that the right spelling ?). I heard 'that noise' and got 'that smell' for the first time and that was it, i didn't miss a home match for 5 years. As a strange quirk of fate, when Bert rode for the Knights in 1980, i got to help him in the pits at Groveway and also used to travel by train from M.K. to his shop in Berkhamsted to help him out now and again during the school holidays travelling back in his van to the track on a tuesday. What an experience for a speedway-mad 15 year old ?. Now some 23 years later I manage an Electrical supertore so thanks Bert for the start in retail.

    Who will win in Slovenia?

I'd just like to wish Matej Zagar all the best
  16. If, as Tony Millard suggested on Monday's SKY coverage Mark is not fit to ride, who will ride in his place ?. Any ideas ?.

    referee at Cardiff?

No offence mean't jblanch69, i forgot the after the 1st line, my apologies. I guess i see this in a different way to you and jeff but imho i think he could have held on and the fact that after the earlier tape breaking and the fact that at the time of the incident he was 4th coming out of turn 2 ?. Oh well, as you say, forums are for our opinions. For what it's worth i do actually think Tony is a great rider and a true gentleman of the sport. TCC
  18. Has anyone got any info on this one ?. Surely it will be some kind of record if Zagar gets in, for a premier league side to have 2 different riders in 2 consecutive G.P.'s ?.

Er... excuse me please, what are you saying here? That the number one rider who is 5 times a world champion bailed out too early? Me thinks he knows best or are you suggesting he had a 'hidden agenda' for not being part of the bike when it hit something solid  And of all the forum members that could find it controversial jblanch69, it was you :!: . Just because Tricky is the numer one (although that might change after another 6 G.P.'s), just because he is a 5 times world champion, does NOT mean he is perfect. He might THINK he knows best (like he did when he assured Middlo he could get a result in heat 15 on monday) but the guy like you and i is only a human being and therefore can make mistakes. Contrary to your typically sarcastic 'hidden agenda' comment i did not suggest anything, i merely mentioned what i saw in the slo-mo replay and asked if anyone else had seen him let the bars go early.
  20. I've taken a few days to consider this and view what others thought too. Here's a few of my thoughts. Food - £2.50 for a hot dog, about par for the course at this type of event. Blues Brothers - If they have to have a 'band', at least have them playing live, there's nothing worse than miming to a tape-especially when you're not ready when the tape starts. Track - very little passing, true, but apart from the rut on turn 4 i thought it held up well. Just think of the lack of passing at the Championship of G.B. last year ? Coventry have had how many years to prepare a good track, the G.P. team had 4 days. By the way that was NOT a pop at coventry it was just an example. Music - yes, i agree with most of you, the whole atmosphere was lacking something and everyone responded to the one playing of 'hey baby' and 'who let the dogs out', could have been done a lot better. A fanfare before the start of each heat would have added something. Announcer - I think Nigel is far better than T.Millard on T.V. but as stated by someone earlier he only really got excited when Scotty came out. Parade -awful. If this is the showcase of the year for british speedway, why present the riders as if it's a premier league match. Referee - A difficult job, i wouldn't want to do it but i do think he could have studied some of the incidents a bit more from different angles with all the technology available to him. The crowd - what an atmosphere. This is why i would go again, you guys made the night, i just wish i had decided to go before saturday and booked with you. Shame about the swearing though. My daughter is 15 so she's heard it all before but the little kids in the row behind were clearly upset by the yobs behind them who shouted obscenities throughout -mainly at the ref. This was my 1st time at Cardiff, would i go again ? - absolutely.

Some people will find this a controversial comment, but did anyone else think that TR let go of the Handlebars incredibly early, rather than trying to regain control ?. Have a look at the slow motion from the rear view and see what you think.

    HOT DOG ANYONE ?

I have to say, i thought the hot dogs were quite tasty !!
