    So the guys in charge of speedway in the UK (Bspa) have said Glasgow can hold a British Semi final on the Friday. But Edinburgh have said they can't and the Bspa have relented?

     

    So who's really in charge then?

    The thing is it only says the Edinburgh have objected...............it does not say that objection has been accepted................as a neutral all I can say is that Edinburgh are cutting their nose off to spite their face..............and that some fans need to look at things from all angles instead of from their clubs point of view..................just because the club puts in an objection to something does not mean their fans have to agree with what the club say............

     

    But that is typical of certain fans though................there is always going to be jealousy when a middle order club suddenly becomes as if not more successful than they are.............we get it down here all the time..............I just ignore it now.............

    Seems the brothers have gone in a huff again. It doesn't actually say anywhere in the statement that you can't ride on the Friday. Just says we've objected to it. The BSPA will more than likely reject it IMO as we have that date down as reserved.

    On the other hand you could of choose a different day yet you choose a Friday. After what happened previously why pick a day knowing that it might cause a problem.

    But if it was not the Glasgow management but the BSPA that agreed it could be held on a day when Edinburgh have no meeting they cannot object.......or are you expecting so many rain offs that you will have to use it.............

     

    Either way it is not good for the sport when two local teams end up in a feud..............bury the hatchet and play nicely then everyone is happy.............

    I was under the impression that they had objected despite not having a meeting that night but it has not been confirmed whether that objection has been upheld..................either way its no way to run a sport................or is it just a case of sour grapes by the smugs cos they did not get it..............

    To be fair I was always led to believe that you had to wait a minimum of 7 days and then you had to have confirmation from a doctor that you were fit to ride..............

     

    When I knocked myself out I was in hospital for 24 hours and went back to work 2 days later............I do a desk job and thought nothing of it............my GP went mad at me and said I was not supposed to go back to work for at least 7 days...............

    One/two night racing is a good idea in theory but in practice it will never work.............

     

    Two reasons - one is that most stadia are shared with other users and and therefore may be expected to change the nights their events are held which could be to the detriment of their sports................

     

    Two - local authority restrictions of use................example each club has a set race night but do they have to get permission from the local council to race on a different night or if they can race til a different time Poole race Wednesday with the occasional Monday for TV and have permission to race Thursdays as well as an alternative race night...........not all teams have that option............

    The reason it was increased was because this year the reserves actually have averages.................they can move in and out of the main team...........had and you only have to look at who is riding for who at reserve to see why it was increased to 40.............

     

    Planning for the following season starts before the season ends of course it does but that does not mean riders are signed.............which cannot really be done (perhaps apart from one or two lower end ones) before the AGM which should be as soon as the play offs are completed............

    Anyone with Virgin Media and has the sports package should get it as standard............

     

    A word to the wise about streaming to a mobile device..............make sure you are connected to wifi and not mobile data when watching or it will eat your data allowance...............even though some plans have unlimited data that is not strictly true.............there will always be a reasonable use limit..........

    I'm totally ruling it out. I also rule out spending my hard earned on a UK holiday. I want some sun on my back, not rain

    Each to their own as they say but due to financial constraints I cannot afford to go abroad as often as I would like...............hence the motorhome holidays in the UK...............

    I've seen people have already booked hotel rooms at £100 a night. On top of £50 a head for admission that's an expensive weekend

    I have done Cardiff on less than £100 a head for accommodation and tickets..................

     

     

    We're only 70 odd miles away, but that's a 300 mile round trip for both days plus admission for the missus and me. I ain't bleedin camping, that's for tramps. This for a meeting my team doesn't have a hope in hell of winning or even qualifying for the final. Doubtless my Berwick supporting missus will want to go. She'd turn up to the opening of a letter if she knew the Bandits would be there.

     

    Don't knock camping......................we took (alibi it is the vehicle the company him indoors works supply him with) a small motorhome to Cardiff last year and it cost us £40 for two nights with electric included................there were a few riders (spectators obviously) camping at the site we stayed at too...............have also done camping in a tent at different events I have been to (not all speedway related) and had a great time so don't rule it out............

    Premier Inns at Orton Meadows, Hampton and Norman Cross are all within a few miles of the track, their are plenty of other reasonably priced hotels in the Peterborough area as well.

    For anyone with a motorhome or touring caravan there is a good site at Ferry Meadows which is next door to Nene Country Park and not that far from the Showground...............

    You do not have to be a Caravan Club member to stay there...............

    A good idea in theory but are they going to move the venue from year to year now as surely it would be unfair for Peterborough to be in the final all the time...............a fairer way of doing it would be to seed the previous years winner through.................

     

    Also the timing is appalling...............two weeks after Cardiff and a week before the SWC at Belle Vue..................there are very few people who can afford the three events in that short space of time and a lot will be struggling to afford to go to one of the three................

    Danish rider Ernst Bogh's daughter also rode for a bit.............

     

    There are a few women coming through the ranks in the USA (Courtney Crone, Sara Cords and Hayley Perrault spring to mind)

     

    And Carly Gittus took part in the Rob Woffinden classic at the weekend.............

     

    Good to see the women giving it a go............

    Having had a few PMs with Starman, I believe his absence is self-imposed, but I may be wrong!!

     

    I don't like or dislike you Gavan - I don't know you!! I have to make a judgement (as you have of me) based solely on the tone and repetitive nature of many of your posts - and 'hate' is such a strong word to use in any context!!! :D:wink::t:

     

    Anyway back to the thread - well done to new Poole asset Brady Kurtz in getting to the final of the 1st round of the Aussie Champs. :t:

    To be fair to Kurtz and the others its not exactly the strongest field in the Aussie championships...............no Holder, No Doyle and No Batch though he is injured but at least it gives a chance for the youngsters to shine................Tungate seems to be doing great this winter as he won the Jason Crump invitational on Boxing Day............

    Whilst you Embra blue rinse, G&T chaps are upgrading to Bombay Sapphire for Crimbo, us Weegies are giving the Bucky a miss and swallying a cheeky wee bottle of Egon Müller Scharzhofberger Trockenbeerenauslese 2005 Riesling at £2K per bottle.

     

    Better still, the bottle comes courtesy of the Facennas.

    Every season ticket holder being sent a wee Fortnum and Masons hamper with a bottle of the good stuff.

    Never mind, you've always got your Cadburys Creme Egg to look forward to at Easter.

    Don't eat it all at once!

    Poole havent cheated as far as i can tell.

     

    Farcical that Buck wasnt on the heat leader list but Watt is so it evens out.

     

    What gets on peoples nerves is things like what Red Panda is doing with the Holder situation. He quite clearly has stated he would ride elsewhere but his first love is Poole. Nothing wrong in that apart from Red Panda trying to say he never said it and arguing with everyone.

     

    The situation with North was all covered up very conveniently and lo and behold he is back racing over here.

     

    Sort out your fans like Red Panda and Starman and Poole may have more respect on this forum

    I don't need 'sorting out'...............I just don't believe everything I read in the press.................

     

    We all know that press articles SOMETIMES deviate from the truth, but unless you can produce evidence that this particular article is incorrect then it's reasonable to assume it's true.

     

    Starman has made a fool of himself and now has the good sense to keep quiet about if , you are losing whatever slim shred of credibility you may have had by clinging to the unlikely idea that Holders reported comment was the exact opposite of the truth, without a shred of proper evidence to back up your claim. Just like you said other promoters just sit back and wait for fans to come to them but you couldn't name them when I challenged you on it, just like you have been caught out spouting rubbish you couldn't back up on other occasions.

    Again I have said that I don't believe everything I read in the press and as regards your other comments about spouting rubbish I am afraid to say I have seen you do it on a number of occasions on different threads...............so don't accuse me of something that you are good at yourself.............

     

    I am entitled to an opinion as much as the next person..............and I respect other peoples opinions............there are times when I have no respect though and sadly this forum regardless of who the poster is is becoming very disrespectful..............you don't like what I have to say then its not my problem.............but when other posters start bullying posters such as myself is something I draw the line at..............

     

    We all make errors in posts but it seems that I get picked on more than most...............and even if I give good accurate information which more often than not I do I get accused of being wrong..............quite honestly I don't care what people think of what I post............what I care about is my team regardless of how well we do or not as the case may be..............
