With Cook, I think everyone would agree, especially any of his old clubs, he is great for any team he rides for and brings a lot more than his points. But with the points limit as it is, having 1 guy take up over 25% of the limit on an average that's pretty hard to maintain, never mind improve I can't see it producing a trophy winning team unless you have an real ace(s) up your sleeve aka like when he won the double with Edinburgh in 2014/2015. In 2014, he came in on a whopping 10.5 average, but Edinburgh had Steve Worrall putting around 5 points on his average, along with Max Fricke on a low average. In 2015, Cook came in on much lower average due to team riding with Sedgman, was able to put a point on his own average and had Agent Wolbert adding 2 points, along with Masters and Sedgman both adding points to their average. IF Cook signs, I just don't see Glasgow having any of these types of riders lined up of to come in alongside Cook who can be substantial 'improvers' to produce a league winning formula.

All I stated above was a matter of how anyone looking from the outside will view that statement. If your major sponsors can throw money at large signing on fees, maybe their financial clout can be put to best use elsewhere and help secure the long term future of the club

Yes indeed and it didn't work out too bad in the end. But the huge difference here is that one of the sides doing the pleading is actually authentic, the other as THJ perfectly summed up is 'crocodile tears'.

Why? Money isn't everything early in a career if you are planning a long career in the sport and want to progress to ride on the continent/world level, there is so much more to it than that. Especially at a young age like these new crop of British talent, where you may have a lot of family members helping out and a good network of sponsors you work hard to get and then promote to aid progression, ala Kyle Bickley. Chasing money might be for good in the short term, but often a rider in 10 years time will have had 9/10 different clubs and be at the same level as they were on their 'bargain average' each year going from club to club with unfulfilled potential. Ben Barker is a prime example.

About half a point maybe, but that's only league meetings, not including Play Offs, KO Cup, Championship Shield. If you factor this in it's well over 1 point at least. It wasn't only the scores which were impressive, it was the way he scored them often from behind, made riders look like mincemeat. If he gated often won by half a lap, one of the first on my team sheet for sure.

I wouldn't want a treble winning team's fastest rider either, give me a Doolan or a Vissing any day...

Fantastic news we are running next year, I always had faith we would be. It will be tougher than ever to build a good solid team with 38 points, but IF we retain at least 5/6 of this years team we will be flying again, would love Nicolai to come back but don't think he'll be riding 2 leagues in Britain, with maybe more commitments abroad. You can only beat what is put infront of you, as your say heats 8 & 12 there was passing as our riders didn't gate but were faster and got past. Jake Allen was the only visiting rider who looked fast, and if Rene or Rasmus had kept missing the gate there would of been a lot more passing like there has been all season.

And this is the problem that Paulco rightly states, the BSPA should be the ones setting the dates based on each Club's official race nights! If the Glasgow fans are saying comments like the above why should Workington be jumping to them, why should we choose to run on a off race night to suit the opposition! We wanted to mainly run meetings on Friday nights throughout the Summer, but were stopped in doing so, I can therefore totally understand the club's stance. Why on earth would we run one of our biggest meetings for years on a Sunday night with a 7.30 start, that's a potential substantial lose of revenue, how many away fans and families would that put off! It wouldn't make good business sense would it.

It's not about who Craig rides for it's the very fact that he is West Cumbrian and a very proud one at that. Unless you are from the area or know it very well you'll never understand what that means to people from the area seeing a fellow Marra riding at the Highest level. The same goes for Dan Bewley WHEN he gets to that stage...

I think that the Saturday 29th would be a no go for Glasgow too, both of those meetings in Germany and Czech Republic are lunchtime starts. Kyle Bickley is also involved in the Czech junior Golden Ribbon meeting on the Saturday.

It will be in our best interests to push for the Play Off SF to be ran before the end of the month. When the new October averages are effective, Dan will probably be 4th in the list, meaning we can’t have a guest, only R/R. When you think at the minute we could have Aaron Summers to guest for him, Rider replacement with none of the top 2 being able to take a ride would be much weaker.
