  5. Poole Pirates skipper, Davey Watt is taking centre stage tomorrow night, as he reveals plans for his testimonial meeting which takes place on 31st August at Poole Speedway. He will be speaking exclusively during a launch event on Wednesday night (9th March) at Poole Stadium’s “Champs Bar” in Wimborne Road. The returning Pirates captain will be telling fans what he has in store and is expected to announce some of the riders who have already agreed to take part, as well as what format the meeting will take, as he celebrates his ten years in British Speedway. “I am determined to give the fans a really special occasion,” says the popular Aussie; “I am well aware that I have had ten great years in the sport and the fans have helped to keep me where I am now. So I am thinking that the day is for them, as much as it is about me” “I already have a few ideas about making it a memorable night and, with so many of my mates pitching in to help me out, I know it’s going to be awesome. There is still a lot to be done but we have already made a good start and I can’t wait to let people in on some of my plans.” Watt will be appearing on Wednesday at a special evening arranged by the Poole Riders Equipment Fund committee to launch his testimonial, as well as Mark Loram’s farewell meeting later this month. The evening begins at 7.30pm and is open to members and non-members of the R.E.F. It is also planned to show the 2010 Award presentation first aired at the end of season dinner in November and which proved such a hit.
  6. Hi Tas Sorry to say the Race Jackets were part of the deal for Rider Sponsors on this one. It was Davey's wish that this be included as an added reward to sponsors rather than being auctioned off at the end - A nice gesture. That's not to say that some of the sponsors may part with them later - at least one has already offered to sell it and put the proceeds back in the fund! I hope you can make it on Wednesday MMX
  7. Thanks Lioness - well spotted and now edited Regret to say Antonio has been released due to an unexpected family matter but delighted to say that Hans has very willingly stepped in. HANS UP FOR DAVEY’S BIG DAY FORMER Poole No 1 Hans Andersen has joined the Rest of the World team in Davey Watt’s Testimonial at Wimborne Road next Wednesday in a bold bid to put himself back in the shop window for a place in the Elite League in 2012. Andersen’s inclusion follows an agreement from Watt that Antonio Lindback could step down from his meeting after the Swede has a personal matter away from speedway. The Pirates captain and meeting organiser Watt admitted: “Antonio and I are great friends and he is desperately keen to ride, but an off track family matter has forced a clash of dates. “Antonio was still prepared to ride instead, but I have persuaded him that his priority is to his family. “He was very keen to come back to England, so is naturally very disappointed, but I feel a lot more content that he will be attending a very important family matter next Wednesday.” The addition of Andersen gives the Rest of the World team a cutting edge and Watt is delighted to see Hans back at Wimborne Road. Watt added: “The absence of Hans in this season’s Elite League has been all the poorer. The guy is a genuine world class performer and I am aware he is still held in great esteem by Poole fans. “Knowing Hans, he will be keen to show that British speedway has been missing this year. I would like to thank him for jumping at the chance of riding in my meeting.” Watt is focussed on making the occasion as enjoyable as possible for all concerned. There will be the inevitable element of fun too as the rider’s mechanics will have the chance to compete against each other in a round of “pit bike” races guaranteed to generate a competitive spirit! And to round off the night, heat 15 will feature the top riders from each team going all out for some special prizes as well as those all important points.
  8. How would you like to be a "Number Eight" for the Rest of the World? We already have an honorary "Number Eight" for the Roo's Team and now there is one chance to become similar for their opponents. Imagine going on the parade truck with the teams - Spending the evening watching from the Pits and seeing Heat 15 from the Centre Green? - Plus a souvenir photo of you with the Rest of the World Team. All the above for you and a guest at a cost of just £150 - Interested? Get in touch with us at mmxevents@yahoo.com to find out more but be quick there is only one opportunity - and it's first come first served! Good luck MMX
  9. Tickets not required for the Testimonial - Payment is on the door and prices are the same as for a Poole Elite League meeting. WATT A LINE UP FOR BIG NIGHT DAVEY WATT has confirmed the testimonial line up for his special Roos v Rest of the World test at Poole Speedway on Wednesday 31st August in celebration of the Aussies ten years in British Speedway. Having already announced that track stars Jason Crump and Emil Sayfutdinov will lead the respective sides, the Poole skipper then added his popular Pirates predecessor Bjarne Pedersen, quickly followed by the news that Wimborne Road track record holder Antonio Lindback would also be in the line-up, both of whom were qualifiers at the weekend for next season's Grand Prix. Now the field has been completed we can reveal that the Aussie team will include Pirates stars Chris Holder and Darcy Ward as well as bang in form Jason Doyle in a not too unexpected side. Meanwhile, the Rest of the World have been boosted by the inclusion of Scott Nicholls and another former Pirate favourite from the 2008 Elite League winning team, Adam Skornicki. Davey will join his Roos team mates of course and is thrilled with the final squads saying that he is really looking forward to a great night out surrounded by friends and fans who have meant so much to him during his ten year UK career. ROOS Davey Watt, Jason Crump, Chris Holder, Darcy Ward, Jason Doyle, Cameron Woodward, Sam Masters REST OF THE WORLD Emil Sayfutdinov, Bjarne Pedersen, Antonio Lindback, Scott Nicholls, Tai Woffinden, Adam Skornicki, Ludvig Lindgren.

    Briggo At Cardiff

Don't worry, there will be plenty of opportunities to donate to the ride when Briggo appears at Cardiff. Briggo will be collecting in person outside the turnstiles with a good number of helpers to give everyone the chance to put their money in the bucket. Throughout the day, we will also have a stand in the Fan Zone area which is in St Mary Street (one road away from the Stadium) where you should be able to meet Briggo and make donations. We will certainly be promoting it and there are many ways to contribute through a number of initiatives - Such as, sending £5 by text (text BRIGGO to 70700) or visiting his website www.briggo.net where you can send any amount of money by PayPal or Credit card. - If you can afford a little more, and like a gamble, why not invest in one of Briggo's Bike Shares? They cost £100 and offer an entry to the limited (200 shares) draw to win Briggo's Yamaha - a 2010 WR250R machine. The "shares" are a great souvenir too, being a limited edition, hand-signed, numbered and personalised picture certificate (check out Briggo's Blog in Speedway Star) We have been in contact with all UK clubs, inviting riders to donate one point of their earnings to the Ride and we have even contacted referees - suppliers - sponsors - and many fans, directly, with a view to supporting us. Cardiff is supposed to be the ride finale, so please get behind the legend that is Barry Briggs and help him to reach his target - I can assure you that he is completely focused on this task. It has taken a huge toll on the great man and he has sacrificed several months of his "normal" life to make this a success. A huge thanks goes to all those who have helped him along the way and to those generous enough to donate already - Now lets finish it off in style at the UK's night of nights. Incedentally - Barry is dissapointed that he has had to miss visiting every track, purely through geography and fixture clashes, but he is still planning to "mop up" some additional visits after the ride with appearances already arranged at Rye House and Lakeside plus the Museum at Paradise Park. Others are hoped to follow. I love the concept of one less pint and two more pounds! - All I can say now is.. GIVE.. GIVE.. GIVE.. and show the world that our community really cares for it's fallen heroes. Thanks for reading - MMX
