  1. How far ahead are arrangements for the NX supporters gathering. I hope it's not just going to be a pub crawl. The Rangers were one of the sport's greatest teams. I only saw them in the Johnnie Hoskins and Wally Mawdsley period but you could sense the heritage from the previous promotion. I went to a Norwich reunion event a few years ago and that was great and NX needs someting simlar.

  2. Only just seen this thread. I regularly visit the parkland that was once the Rangers home, there is one remaining wooden step and a weird plaque near the bridge that leads to the new football ground, apart from that there is nothing(sadly) to even hint at it's past.

Ilderton Road, formerly Canterbury Road had three pubs, the Cliftonville, the Barnaby both now flats and the Canterbury which whilst still there is now an African bar, other local pubs such as the Crown and Anchor, Albany, Royal Archer, Hatcham,Railway, Fox and Hounds, Prince of Windsor, Rose of Kent, Bramcote and Golden Lion have all closed for good. Nearest local is now the Five Bells, which whilst being ok, doesn't have the atmosphere of the others.

I have started a New Cross supporters page on Facebook, where i am currently the only member ! My family and friends all seem to get a glazed look about them when i mention the mighty Rangers, even more sad as many of them support the local football team.

Please keep me informed of any pilgrimage.

Like you I'm trying to get more about this and how well it might get local publicity and any other sort of support because it is a very long time since speedway was there. I just wonder how many people in the area even know it took place there and where are the old local fans who are needed for such pilgrimage. Good luck though to the suggestion.
