We had him for deffinate when I last posted squall and maybe we were a bit premature in hinting on it. Kenneth really wanted to come over but in the end His Swedish club were insisting that he take part in a training camp that would mean missing our first 3 meetings plus the idea would have been to share a lift with Patrick Tarp so to just come over on his own to do 2 meetings would have cost him too much. Kenneth has stressed that he would love to come over for the July tour as he really wants to get back into British Speedway and we are working on the logistics to make this happen.

We are pleased to let you all know that Team Viking will be heading to these shores again for a spring tour next year to take place between the 1st to the 10th of April. There is interest from at least 5 national league tracks but nothing can be confirmed yet until after the conference. As we are over the same time as the American touring team I am working with Steve Evans about the possibility of another USA v Team Viking match at Newcastle. This fixture last year was very entertaining and it is one that I would like to see become an annual meeting provided we are touring at the same time and of cause as long as Newcastle agree. I know the riders i want to bring on this tour and if all agree we will have some very exciting talent on show. One rider who has 99% confirmed is Patrick Tarp but we will name the others when they confirm watch this space

Well after 2 weeks of negotiations we are finally able to release details of the FINAL line up of the Team Viking april tour... Klaus Jakobsen (dk) Jonas B Andersen (dk) Mikkel Salomonsen (dk) Patrick Tarp (dk) Alexander Edberg (sw) captain Oliver Berntzon (sw) Lee Geary (uk) Sam Woods (uk) * due to college exams Jonas Andersen will be leaving for home after our meeting at Sheffield on the 7/4 * For our meeting at Plymouth on the 8/4 we will have Andreas Westlund come in to replace Jonas and to add strength at reserve Jaimie Pickard will ride at #7 * At Newcastle on the 10/4 we will be using one of our premier league Vikings to replace Jonas Phew who said running a speedway team was easy

Tommy Jorgensen and Claes Nedermark of Team Viking fame are both in the Rest of the World team

go on Squall have a guess I'll give you some more clues.... He has the same name as 3 kings of Scotland and the same surname as a TV football pundit

I dont think so. I can't say which teams he raced for as that would certainly give it away to give you a clue one of his relatives raced for a now dufunct northern club in the mid 80's

Sorry Kev my modem was playing up yesterday so I couldn't put on a reply. The Danish rider in question will give me an answer hopefully today. we were due to put out a release yesterday but he just needs to double check with his polish club that he is free to do our last meeting at Newcastle on the 10th. All I'll give away at this stage is that he did not ride in the UK last year but has raced in the elite and premier and at one stage was scoring double figures in the top flight. I'll keep you all guessing

We have nearly reached conclusive talks with the final rider in the Team Viking jigsaw and if its all systems go it will be the biggest name to date to have raced for the vikings!! All should be revealed on Friday. Watch this space TEAM VIKING 2011

We are delighted to announce that our #1 rider for the tour will be none other than Klaus Jacobsen. Klaus has premier and elite league experience mainly with Stoke and Coventry and is eager to get back into British speedway and is using the Vikings tour to show promoters that he still has what it takes to be a top premier league rider. The riders of Team Viking will be guest speakers at the Nuneaton Speedway supporters club on Tuesday 5th April at the Chivers Cotten liberal club start time 7:30. Please come along and get to meet the lads in person

Its will be a full 15 heat against the Potters. Our meeting at Scunthorpe will be against the saints. The proposal is to stage it as part of the amateur meeting that day.

We are please to announce that the Vikings will be making a raid into Scotland on Friday 1st April as we have been invited to take part in a 9 heat individual tournament called the "Thor Trophy". This will run as a second half after the Monarchs meeting with Glasgow and will feature all 6 Scandinavian vikings plus 2 Edindurgh riders. All riders will complete 4 rides each with the top 4 scorers after heat 8 going into a grand final. Our thanks go out to John Campbell for organising this. Our "proposed" meeting for Wednesday 6th April has fallen through so our final schedule is now as our previous post but with that day blank. The highlights of the tour will be our first ever Premier league level challenge against Plymouth on the 8th and then our "international" against the American tourists at Newcastle on the 10th where we will be looking to avenge last years defeat TEAM VIKING 2011

If Lee thinks he has got it bad spare a thought for the guys who raced for Norway in last years World cup qualifier in Germany. All the Norwegian federation gave them was roughly £200 pounds travel to Germany and back and nothing else. Anyone who's been to Norway before will know how far £200 will get you lol I do agree with Lee on financial reasons. Its good to ride or play for your country in any sport but if you are out of pocket for it in this day and age its not worth doing. BSPA its over to you....

We are delighted to announce that in addition to our touring squad Team Viking will take its place in the new Midlands League. The team will run under the name of Team Viking Acadeny with the core of the squad being filled by our British Riders and we have come to an agreement which will see us using Sheffield as our home base. More details will follow shortly about the Midlands league which will run as a 2nd half competition with each team riding against each other once home and away. At the end of the completed fixture the list the top 2 team will face each other in a 2 legged play off to decide the league championship. Teams announced the the league are..... Team Viking Academy, Long Eaton Invaders, Sheffield Tiger Cubs and the Scunthorpe Stags. One other team has stated their interest and we shall know soon if they intend to take their place. Afraid not Iris. I was in talks with Mikkel Michelsen but unfortunately he could not get the time off college. He has assured me though that he will come over for our July tour as will Anders Vad. The Swedish rider in question has signed for a polish team which has ruled him out of the tour due to fixture clashes. I do believe though that we have put together a very talented team and I'm looking forward to seeing them ride together

It gives us great pleasure to announce in full the 8 riders who will be wearing the Team Viking race bib on our forthcoming April tour all of whom will be looking to emulate the achievments of Tommy Jorgensen, Claes Nedermark and Peter Juul. Joining the team at number 1 will be NICKLAS PORSING. Nicklas is no stranger to the UK after riding a few open meetings here towards the end of last season the highlight of which was 4th place in the pride of the potteries meeting at Stoke. Nicklas has a huge talent and had put in some fantastic scores in the Danish super league for Holsted scoring a whopping 11 points in one meeting! We are sure that Nicklas will be one of the stars of this tour and it will only be a matter of time before he will be riding in the Premier league. The last ride to agree to the tour is none other than our very own HENNING LOOF. Henning has been a member of the Vikings since our formation in 2009 and was almost certain to ride in this years national league after receiving numerous offers only for British speedways red tape to halt his efforts. Henning has now put forward his case and we are only too pleased to help him get as many competitive rides as possible and show the BSPA that he is worthy or ridng in the National League. The team captaincy duties will be taken on by ALEX EDBERG. Alex came very close to landing a premier league contract towards the end of last season only to miss out at the 11th hour to a fellow Swede. He has come on leaps and bounds since his last appearance on these shores in 2009 and is now a regular member of the Swedish u21 squad.
