  1. Indeed it would, I saw Tully and Wethers passing each other several times in that race! The track is certainly not of the same standard as 4/5 years ago, I don't know why. Matthew was certainly a bit wayward which is unusual for him, I felt he was overdoing it at times, but certainly the second bend appeared dodgy. Probably too much sun!
  2. So you missed the semi final then....prog downstairs so can't remember the other decent ones, suffice to say that 2 mates who attend infrequently really enjoyed it, once the dirt moved to the outside it was better. Not the same without JG to boo though lol
  3. Well young Roo-Boy showed how well he learned as a Monarch with an effortless 6 wins to secure the title again despite a couple of dodgy 1/2 bends. Good to hear that the Monarchs promoters fed him with dodgy burgers and his EL average will be down so low by October that we will sign him for next year on a 7.00 average Well Tigers arranged that for Joe lol. Some decent races tonight after a horror start for Olly Allen, hope he is ok. The Bandits fans would be happy with the efforts of Alden and Complin, the latter is a joy to watch anywhere. Wethers looked more determined than I have seen, Tully too was bursting a gut and Cookie went very well. Wolbert cruised to the final. Enjoyed the efforts of Simota too. James Wright was untouchable when he gated, but that was only 50% of the time. Rory has now won 3 Opens and I look forward to seeing him back next year - maybe the MOTOR will come out of retirement to prevent him winning a fourth?

    Wayne Briggs

Wayne is Barry's brother and I well remember seeing him raing for the Monarchs at Old Meadowbank in the sixties. He seemed to have a lot of bad luck with injuries.
  9. Kevin was in Poland today, next speedway is Wednesday at KL according to his diary. http://www.woelbert-racing.de/40600.html
  10. Probably CID in case they legged it with the Trophy? Sorry chaps couldn't resist!

    Plrc

Why don't you get someone to propose you for the MC then GB2? Or would they be too embarrassed to vote on a Promoter who ordered a team to cheat to lower their averages and introduce Screen? allegedly of course as you were found "not proven"? There again, why not really sort out the rules at the annual promoters cock up/piss up and stick to them for the entire year? Or accept that Speedway is so ludricous that rules need tweaked every 10 minutes? What's it to be?

    Scottish Speedway Museum

Ah I see, your spade is broken so change the subject? OK then, quiz time - who are the only home nation to QUALIFY for 5 World Cups in a row? Q2 - When did England last beat France home and away in competitive games? First prize - a day out at the Scottish Speedway Museum, 2nd prize - a house in Wolverhampton Post edited cos I looked at your profile and saw your profession!!! I didn't mean any of the above - honest!!! lol

While you are at B&Q I suggest you purchase a spade so that you can dig yourself out of the hole you appear to be in.

    Team Gb Name

Can't help but agree - well that's probably the easiest option!!

    Team Gb Name

Team GB today represented Great Britain as I believe that the individual countries of Great Britain are not members of the FIM but GB is. There is no English leagues in GB, just British ones. England did not enter the SWC. There were indeed 5 Englishmen in the team today (or 3 plus a Cornishman and an Aussie if you believe some of the posts on here) but any GB rider can ride for the team. Without checking were Willie Lawson and Andy Tully not in the GB under 21 squad? To confirm your geographical understanding, Glasgow is indeed in Scotland (though as a Monarch I am campaigning to move it south for a few hundred miles ), Cardiff is in Wales and equally so, London is in England. To explain further - Scotland, England and Wales are all part of Great Britain hence the use of the Union Jack/Flag (there's a wee clue in the make up of the flag)for Team GB. Do you remember the winter Olympics a few years ago when 4 Scottish women won the gold medal - they were Scottish but were representing GB - GB won the gold medal - not Scotland! Finally - you did not speak to a SCOTCHMAN, but a Scotsman - Scotch is what we drink - in small quantities of course! I trust that this explanation assists you!
  20. ffs George does any team have any race jackets after a visit to the dear green place? surely the local neds have stolen them by heat one? Or is it all JDC's fault? must go now and see how Edinburgh fared at KL lol
  21. ignorant would be a more apt desription I think. Wolverine sounds like another Little Englander who thinks England is Great Britain. Would Wolverine prefer fans from other parts of Great Britain like myself not to go and support OUR country?
  22. Agreed George, my back is killing me today after all the hanging around. However with 22 heats to run it's always going to take a fair bit time. Throw in a break after every 4 heats as a rider always has two races in a row and it takes longer still. Plus there seems to be more crashes than usual - maybe a combination of a few riders new to the track plus we often get 4 riders of heat leader ability going for the same spot with the ineviatble all four back resulting. The above will happen at any indivdual meeting not just one's at Armadale! - throw in problems with the track last night and the tyre fiasco and I am amazed it finished at all. By 8.45pm we had only seen 8 heats so they did well to get all the racing completed by 10pm.
  23. Nice to meet Bongo Brian tonight, glad to report he still had his re-admission ticket at ht 15! Sorry to falkirk bandit, maybe the pub would have been better? My thoughts from the Chatzone, sorry I can't be bothered giving a full report! I lose interest at indivual meetings and tonight was no exception! With the track and tyre problems and numerous stoppages I was pleased to see 22 heats in the end. Well done to Franc, after a slow start he was flying from the gate, took advantage in the semi. Fish blew it - just too anxious I guess, Slabon impressed. Andy rode well all night, just missed out on 1st bend in the final. Felt so sorry for Mr Screen who was flying too after starting slowly, but as Merlin said - it ain't over till the fat rider crosses the line! Amazed at a rider of his experience didn't keep going as he wasn't impeded and there was no need to stop the race - maybe he was practicing for his league visit with the average cheating chickens? Fireworks were good though Manzares did ok, took a real thump into the fence though, hope he is ok!
  24. Kings Lynn from Edinburgh is slightly further, but at least we don't have the M25 I suppose We're leaving at 10am, hopefully be at KL around 4pm in time for some food, diet coke cos I'm driving grrrrr still I have a wee bottle of Bordeaux back at the Travelodge - luxury eh?
