I enjoyed this meeting as a neutral. Newcastle were in it until Kerr's fall ended their resistance before a surprise 1-5 in ht 15. Some great racing in a great speedway set-up.
-
It was a TR disaster! I' d rather a disaster with two riders wanting the best for their team rather than Branford "I turned as hard as I could" & Riss' effort.
Also Richard getting brought back in 13 seems to of escaped your all seeing eye!
On top of all that we had an NL guest who rode like 00Wolbert did for the majority of last year!! Think we done alright
Lol, you did more than all right!! kept it interesting till the end. Lawson was on bend 2 when the tapes went up - lol!!! as for the t/r - refer to my earlier post, you were on a 1-7, eneded up a 3-5!.. now that would have put pressure on the Champions tomorrow - btw, this 3 points for any home win is crap - heat 15, if Glasgow had won a 4-2. surely a point loss for us and 1 for you was fairer?

So as a mean Scot paying £170 for 12 heats, is there any avenue to get a refund? Don't quote me ticket conditions as a 5 year old could prove they are unfair. Who was my contract for 23 heats of racing with?
Part of my defence was that there is no way I had £170 worth of food and drink by heat 12... or heat 11.... or heat 10.........

Or our promoters run the Border agency? damn, let the cat out of the bag!

As much as I enjoy our rare victories over our nearest and dearest, I am pleased things are on the up in the wild west - Paulco can relax with a wee beer now..... The plans for ashfield look great, the biggest bonus will be if we can bring on young Scottish riders as the supply line pratically dried up with the demise of the Dale Devils due to planning restrictions.
I'll settle for 8 x 50-40 this year

Pinny, according to Mr Bowie, there's a starman, waiting in the skies, may be a bit too old lyrics for you mate!!!

gonna fall asleep at the end of my rod due to lack of bites... is there a curfew in weegieland on pc posting tonight???
-
No. Edinburgh got double 3 and double 3, Somerset got double 2 and double 3. The other riders scores in the races are irrelevant in terms of 'gain' from tacticals.
Careful, SCB sees this and all hell will break loose.
shhhhhhhhhhhhh too pished for an scb attack lol

Davy, by pipping Somerset tonight, you've ensured that the last team to win back-to-back titles at this level remains Glasgow in '93 and '94
All the best
Rob
93/94??? I was a boy then Rob!! okay, a 36/37 yr old boy.... luckily, i didn't go to speedway then but obviously the weegies had 600cc motors!
-
I was backing your case DavyH.
Didn't benefit the Capital Monarchs.
Didn't stop them winning either!
Far too pissed to be doing numbers Ed, just delighted we won after skooshing the league. good season for the bandits too, i need to make an effort and get down there next year to share a pie on bend 3

Looking forward to hearing accounts of heats 13 and 15 and seeing the dvd. Sounds like it was a bit mental.
Congratulations to the Monarchs and look forward to Starman condoning the instructions in heat 15
Rico
Not naming names but some people near reading had to leave the room at heat 15 lol

Got to praise John Campbell Alex Harkess and the Monarchs directors for this great team too - 4 league wins in 12 years ain't too shabby and only one dodgy burger in that time ( cue Tsunami)

It started in March Rob !!!

I assume we'll have to wait on our Glasgow friends finishing their Buckie and fried mars bars suppers before they add their congrats to the best team ever in PL history? Me fishing... as if......

Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeehaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa, justice is done ( as it was last year) the PL winners are the true champions, I am dead against play-offs but it must have been slightly exciting for heat 15 tonight Well Done Monarchs, a truly fantastic team - and well done to Somerset too, by far the best of the rest!
Going to have a wee shandy now
-
Youngy, but surely you have to admit that Cookie does roll a little sometimes.
In the Scunthorpe vs Edinburgh meeting earlier in the season, Cookie got away with such an outregeous roller in Heat 13 that he was able visit the bar on the first turn, buy and drink three pints, then have a play on the kiddies slide on the second turn, and still be leading up the back straight.
Mind you, there are riders from all clubs who get a bit of a roller. At a recent meeting at Ippo, the Witches fans near me were getting in a right lather about Klindt & Jorgensen, while being completely oblivious to the fact that Tungate was doing exactly the same!
Rob, he does that off 15m too!!
All the best
Rob
-
Exactly. Sometimes you just want to get the hell out of there, get home and put the kettle on!
kettle?? do you get beer in a kettle in Ippo???
-
Ippo making a decent fight of it, hopefully, cheer up the heat 14 departees.

Fair to middling season for the Monarchs I wasn't over enthused with our team this year but was so delighted to have another year watching Cookie that I accepted we had to go with a weak "rest of team" lol We had a great start with Justin and Stevie scoring for fun at reserve, we were able to still win easily while Aaron found his feet. Been a bit tougher since Derek and Aaron have been at reserve but to have a semi-final and 2/3 finals in October is superb. Sam Masters has really come on in the second half of the season while young Max Fricke has matured into an excellent heatleader.
We could lose these 2/3 finals but already have won the Pairs and the League, just need to add the silverware now.
-
Here's a new idea - why don't we declare the team at the top of the league at the end of the season as Champions? Ludicrous that a team finishing 6th could hit a purple patch and be called champions. Before I get slated for being a Monarch who may not win the PL despite finishing at least 10 points clear, I said last year at this time that it was right that Somerset beat us in the play-off final. I would have loved Monarchs to win it but could never have considered us True champions as we were in 2003, 2008 and 2010.
Run the league to end September then have a Young Trophy again.

The MetCheck forecast for Armadale was moderate rain until 12 noon then dry thereafter - I am 10 miles away in Livingston - the forecast was rain all day and they were right with that one. When the rain comes from the west, it often passes over Armadale then falls east of the Bathgate hllls.
With Torun next weekend then France the week after till end November that is my Monarchs speedway over this season Plus we were due in hospitality tonight. Never mind, just have to rely on the chatzone updates as the business end of the season unfolds.
My F5 button will be worn out!
And then churlishly blame the Met Office.
Why not blame the Met Office - they got it badly wrong for the second time in the last 4/5 weeks.
