  1. Well I hope Mr Woffinden has his day for GB but based on the below found on speedway star website who knows: -

The semi at Sheffield was rained off after 12 heats with Woffy failing to make the cut. “There was meant to be a ballot to decide which riders went where, but I could have gone to King’s Lynn,” said Tai, referring to the other semi-final venue. “It makes me wonder why I chose to race for Britain. I still can ride for Australia I guess, there’s nothing stopping me.”

  2. unfair that the result stands from this meeting, some of the best riders are out of the final!!

Nothing to do with the weather...the people who have missed out were just not good enough!! Would be unfair to re-run the meeting and rob the likes of tully and frampton a place in the final.

Regarding the final place between King and Hall, perhaps there will be a run off before the final?

  3. Defo Freddie Lindgren because he has made a couple of rostrums this season, Hans will get one on his reputation plus he was fighting it out until the last GP for a top 8 slot!!

Matej Zagar would be my next choice due to his good season and then on to the Brit debate for the final slot. Scott Nicholls will never get back in next season and Harris should also not, if he had put up more of an effort on Saturday and learnt to gate then maybe give him another chance!! It then moves on to for me either Tai or Richardson and in my opinion if we are going to go with the future then Tai should be in the series and with Holder and Emil will make the season one of the most exciting for a few seasons. Sure Tai will struggle in a few rounds and at other rounds he will make semi finals but that only sounds like Zorro to me!!

    Come on Tai!!

  4. Well done to Worky on winning the fours and looks like Andre coming back into form!!

I agree that the fours should be moved to Coventry or Peterborough to make it better entertainment and not have any home track advantage!! Regarding the argument about the PLRC and Pairs..I can guarantee Ricky Ashworth probably wont win the PLRC this season because there are too many riders who can ride Sheffield and will give it there all (Darcy Ward, Tomas Topinka, Kevin Doolan, Michal Makovsky, Ty Proctor) to name a few.

The Pairs is a great meeting staged at Somerset and provides some of the best racing around..maybe not as good this season as last year but it is all about the Cardiff weekend and Somerset is a major part of it for PL fans!!

  5. What 9 from six rides wow .....Rico would have scored 13 or 14 ....King only can do one thing thats go round the outside full throttle a one trick pony with little talent

Great meeting but hard to bear getting crushed by 20+ points at home but being the only team not putting our best side out it was to be expected complete madness from lyon .

Well the amount of times I have seen Rico be a one trick pony - 'either gate and win or trail in last'.

Rico has been the best rider for Britain in the last couple of years but it was an ideal opportunity to use the young lads and we were never going to beat Australia or Poland whoever we put out!!

Rico should have been in for Kennett who can not ride big tracks and does not have the speed!!

  6. Fantastic meeting and great advert for speedway...the racing has been superb and Danny King has been awesome for the Brits.

The race off is going to be a cracker with Brits, Aussies, Danes and Swedes!! From tonights performance the Brits should be: -

    Harris, Bridger and King

    Rico for Kennett

Either Woffy or Nicholls depending on Rob Lyon's frame of mind but would love to see Woffy ride in the meeting!!

  7. Well always entertaining when go to Newport and yesterday was no different.

The track was an absolute disgrace, dust flying everywhere, water use being limited and a massive blue groove on both bends. The riders may well have rode on the M4!!

There was a couple of good races but most of it was 'gate and go'. Kevin Doolan certainly had a 'bee in his bonnet', going straight over to the impressive Anderson and Frampton after a couple of comings together.

On the whole it topped off a good weekend but lets hope they can find some more shale for next year!!
