  1. I am a Wolves supporter and traveled down to the EoS 4 times last season ( once for the Championship fours and 3 Wolves meetings ). I have mobility issues, Heart failure Diabetes etc but don't have a problem driving,

I am accompanied to every meeting I attend by my Grand-Daughter who has Cerebral Palsy.

Whilst we can both walk small distances arm in arm like pair of drunks the extra distance being proposed is completely out of our range so I am afraid we will not be able to attend.

Whilst I am having a moan I would also like to point out that the disabled toilets were locked on 2 occasions and locked before the end of the meeting on another.

I am also registered as one of her carers and on each occasion pointed this out to the lady on the gate but was charged 2 full price admissions, which surprised me as every other Elite league club plus Leicester, Sheffield and Cradley all charged 1 full admission and the carer entered free.

                                                                                             Whinge over

                                                                                             Yours Steve

Will Wolves make a pre-season change and replace Nicol with Nicholls?

Seems like the sensible thing to do, all we've done is replace Howarth with Nicol.

We now have 2 riders ( 3 if you include Becker ) having to learn how to ride Monmore in Douglas and Nicol plus the 2 points we could have used for better/more experienced rider(s).

Of course there was never any doubt over his average being 4.00.

The 6.00 nonsense trotted out at the talk in was just to keep the gullibles happy and make them think there was a sensible reason behind it.

The same as applies with the building of 2 points beneath the limit was they were hopeful of bringing in Lindgren or Hancock, only somebody with the IQ of a mump would believe this.

Would love to eat humble pie if Lindgren did come back next season , but don't think this was ever going to happen.

  4. I think they're relying on riders (Thorsell, Morris and Masters) actually putting a great deal more effort into a lot more of there rides, particularly away from home, on many if not most occasions if not leading after the second bend the amount of effort was palpable trying to make it look like they were trying by twisting the neck of the throttle and lifting down the straights or looking down at the engine.

Hopefully some clues will be gained if it’s likely the expected duo or waiting on ‘someone’.

I just hope I can make it tonight but might not be there till late so might just skip it if I can’t be there 8ish.

Hopefully someone will put some info on tho anyway.

I just hope it's not going to be the big letdown most of us think it's going to be.

Looking on the bright side, at least it will save me a few bob.

I agree but looking at the points left, if Nick is included, then the 1.86 surplus will be used to strengthen Sam or Jacob (or both)

I was talking to one of Swindon's sponsors early in the season at Monmore and he said that Morris's head was not right (presumably his attitude) and they couldn't wait to offload him. He produced only 2 or 3 decent efforts when it looked like he could be bothered ( 2 of those being at P'boro in the second league match ), I know he was coming back from injury but if he could produce those type of rides on occasion then surely he could have produced them more often.

  7. After thinking ( which hurt ) about the quality of the modern day racing in this country, it does appear to be a lot closer than the so called golden years. Unless Mauger, Olsen, Briggs etc were in a race together then the riders were well spread out.

A lot of the overtaking in this era was due to Olsen Collins etc missing the start and having to come from the back.

The riders in this country apart from Jason Doyle are much of a muchness and so the racing is a lot closer. The above riders were far superior to the others hence there high averages.

As an example of the close racing nowadays I was at Swindon Last night to watch the Wolves and as a far as I can remember every race had close racing and a few of the races were in the balance until the line, not entirely due to the track as the same happened at Wolves v Belle Vue last Monday.

  8. I first went to speedway in 1963 aged 7 and have been a follower ever since.

For the last 4 decades I tended to go to Wolves 3-4 times a year plus Cardiff, the less I went the less I wanted to go.

I have an adult disabled Granddaughter  who asked if i could take her to an away match, as she is a huge Scott Nicholls fan I decided to take her to Leicester, since then we Haven't missed a Wolves or Leicester home match and have traveled to Belle Vue, Stoke, Sheffield,Peterborough, King's Lynn, Somerset and Swindon.

The ( long winded ) point I am trying to make is I was one of the people on here who wouldn't go because it isn't as good as it used to be, but now I have my enthusiasm back most of the racing is as good if not better than during the 60's and 70's the only downsides are the lack of atmosphere, a disjointed fixture list and seeing the same visiting teams 3 or 4 times a season.

Perhaps if others got off there backsides and actually went to a meeting they might get the bug back and go regularly.

Why is the racing good in the NL, do they make lots of mistakes which makes the racing more exciting? Is it because they are still learning lines, bike set ups etc?

Passing even up to Gp level is generally caused by riders mistakes eg too slick, too grippy wrong set up, wrong lines, over riding. So this can't be a reason for overtaking only in the NL.

After the first bend if the rider in front doesn't make a mistake he's going to win.

    The relevance of that is?

We are talking about the product on offer now and potentially next season. I’ve already stated that the product on offer doesn’t entice me very much.

By the product do you mean the class of rider or the racing

. I go to Wolves H&A, Leicester Home some Away, Cradley Home and Stoke Home when not clashing with Leicester the racing in the CL is in the main far better than PL and a reasonable amount of races in the NL are as good if not more exciting than the PL.

I have been a Wolves supporter for over 50 years and seen the good, the bad and the ugly but I feel a lot of the opposition to one big league comes from the snobbery of PL fans looking down on the lower leagues.

Most PL riders double down to the CL so how would one league be weaker than the 2 we have now.

At the moment there is only 1 world class rider in Britain (J Doyle) so the risk of losing GP riders is negligible.

On paper yes, they both certainly looked much improved last night. Kyle's pass of bomber in heat 11 was Kyle at his best.

Unfortunately this was against a God awful team.

My biggest worry is that maybe it's too early for Luke to be moving into the main body of the team and it could affect his confidence.

There are plenty of roadworks around that area with 40mph speed limits. It was closed at night eastbound when we were at Peterborough a couple of weeks ago, diverting through Cambridge , whether that is still the case with westbound closures etc I'm sorry but I don't know.

Maybe logon to Roadworks.org , activate live traffic in menu and it normally tells you about planned roadworks and closures.

    Check it out

    Thank You

  13. Is the A14 open during the day and night from Huntingdon to Cambridge and visa versa? If there's too big a diversion either way it hardly seems worth the effort travelling from 20 miles west of wolves. Any advice would be gratefully accepted other than don't bother travelling.

                                                                                   Cheers Steve

You can park in the main stadium car park and the entry point is from the car park. The GRA charge £3 I think to park there. You can park for free at the one stop shopping centre but that will be a walk across the main roads and may not be suitable for someone who cannot walk far.

    Thank You

He was benefiting from RR, giving him rides in both Heat 12 and 14, artificially increasing his average.

It still doesn't alter the fact that since Thorssell and particularly Morris replaced Nicholls and R/R we have lost 2 and drawn 1 at home.

  16. 26 minutes ago, BWitcher said:

    I know, awful isn't it.

Thorssell 6.87 or 7.08 with bonus pts from 8 matches.

Nicholls in the same time 5.02 or 5.58 with bonus pts from 9 matches.

Nick Morris is the one who simply hasn't performed.

On league matches alone which Thorssell's figures are based, Nicholls league averages are 7.30 or 8.35 with bonus points.

Nicholls home average is 1.55 with bonus points better than Thorssell's. Our home results are proving to be our Achilles heel, by retaining Nicholls we could possibly be 8 points better off and would be 5 points better than Swindon.
