I completely agree with you in that Nicholls was not up to the job, but just felt it was harsh on him as a person. I think it is a shame there are so few true number 1s prepared to ply their trade in the UK these days. I have supported Swindon for over 40 years, and really hope they can persuade a true number one to join them next year. I have a feeling we will have an Aussie number 1 next year but not Darcy, I guess we'll have to wait and see?
-
I think that's fairly tough on Nicholls. He had an impossible task following Leigh 'God on a speedway bike' Adams, and Nicholls had a bad year by his standards and even at his best, I think it was a bridge too far for him to fill Leigh's boots. That said, he never gave up and gave it his best.If Darcy could be persuaded to stay, fantastic, if not, maybe Holder will see the light?

I did Kennet -2 against Krcmar and Batchelor over 7, fingers crossed. I haven't bet on the result, but think this might be closer than many think.

Poole Pirates Vs Swindon Robins 29/7/15

What's the weather looking like down on the Dorset coast? -
Just seems to me the minute there is any sign of damp he bottles it big time (even worse than normal)?
-
If there is any sign of wet stuff, you can mark Batchelor down for a poor night. I hope for a Robins victory, but fear a Wolves revival? As a Robins fan of over 40 years, I don't remember too many positive visits to Wolves 😕 Here's hoping 😋

The Darcy Ward Show! Swindon V Poole - Mon 13th July 7.30 Elite League (sky Meeting)
65Sarge replied to mudflaps's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
A colleague at work and his wife went for the first time on free tickets from their Adver subscription and thoroughly enjoyed it. He assured me they will go again. For me it wasn't a classic but it was exciting and unpredictable with a few good races thrown in. Add in the decent crowd and atmosphere, have to say well done to the Promotion. -
It seems the fact you are unable to grasp is that whilst Darcy + Ed may not exceed Guest + Kyle, that option will no longer exist very soon and Darcy + Ed is highly likely to exceed Kyle + Premier League 6 point rider. Ergo, the change was necessary to give Swindon ANY chance of the Play Offs, plus the potential for increased crowds and revenue.

Should Rosco Still Be Team Gb Manager

But Havvy doesn't speak English! -
Assets and children first 👍

I must admit CVS sounded more like an MP than a promoter?

I just hope if Swindon bring in Ward it's Batchelor to go, he has been consistently inconsistent for years and always bottles it when the pressure races come. Zengi & Howarth have been excellent this year and both deserve to keep their place. I would rather a straight swap at 1 if we could persuade someone and let Ward go elsewhere, but from a business point of view he will put bums on seats, so I await the announcement with trepidation😕
-
I am open minded about Ward for the Robins. If I was the business owner I would be confident he would bring additional fans through the turnstiles, I guess though it will depend on how much he will cost? If he came, it will be harsh on the rider displaced, but in my opinion, we should retain Morris and Zengi who have both been fairly consistent and are assets. If one had to go, my decision would be based on which allows the best balance to be achieved. That said if a rider like Pawlicki could be persuaded I quite like the thought of keeping faith with the nucleus we have, but I think it's a huge if.

Just watched this, did they actually open the gates to the public?
-
My thoughts as a neutral having watched it. 1. The meeting should not have started 2. The officials need to grow a pair 3. Sky have a lot to answer for 4. Poole gave a committed professional display 5. A few posters for some strange reason are blaming Poole? 6. Havvy should not be in management 7. For the 2nd week running I have come to the conclusion Jason Garritty is an accident waiting to happen 8. Speedway is the loser tonight

Swindon Robins V Coventry Bees 26th May 2015
65Sarge replied to mdmc82's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Well for once I actually understood what Havelock said on TV and all it did was confirmed my opinion that he talks complete and utter b*ll*cks most of the time. Enjoyed the meeting, not so much Nigel & Kelvin's Coventry love in, and I think Swindon did well to get a win. Most importantly I hope Hans makes a speedy recovery, and for what it's worth I think the ref got the Garrity/North decision right as it looked to me as if Garrity lost the back end and it certainly hit North's leg and quite probably his back wheel too? I know 999 out of 1000 fans will apparently disagree, but on the forum it appears that's only 999 out of a 1000 Coventry fans? Well done to the promotion for getting a big crowd in, let's hope a few of the extra come back for more. -
I was going to vote for Hans Andersen but he wasn't an option 😂
-
Sounds like Lady Luck left the Abbey for Swindon today, hope all injured riders are OK firstly, but well done to Poole, they took advantage of the situation and that's fair play. I think those being negative need to look at the positives with Nick, Kyle and Zengi all putting in decent performances. Get Troy and Adrian fit and firing and it doesn't look all doom and gloom. Long way to go, but it can only get better.
-
So, no great surprise this morning. Not 100% convinced personally, but I think fans have to forget the past and focus on the present, get behind the team and hope AM can show the world he is a Number 1 and will give 100% to the Robins. Here's hoping.
-
Perhaps Peter has agreed to a 28 day contract to cover if Troy's not got the Visa issue sorted?
-
In fairness it's great for Poole and promotes them and the sport, just a shame he only won the 'Premier League' World Championship rather than the real one where the standard is 10-20% higher? But I think Poole are right to seize every opportunity to promote themselves and speedway, I know I would if I were a Promoter!
-
Personally, I will have no problem with Mirdzinski back at Swindon as long as he is committed and wants to be there. The business with going to Poole is history and he made a business decision to work where suited him best back then, we need to move on! I'm not convinced yet it will be him, but I have a strong suspicion it will be a big name Pole, let's hope we find out one way or t'other soon. And I think Zengi may prove a shrewd signing, he's professional, good equipment and of an age now to push on in the UK as he did in Poland and Sweden last year. This season could go either way, but let's try to be positive 👍
-
Zengota it is then, no great surprise, hope he can kick on and do a good job, just need the 'big' signing or it could be a long season, fingers crossed. Right, back to the desk.
-
Zengota plus Gollob (tongue in cheek), a pair of Poles and it wouldn't be dull 😂😂
-
As a 3rd heat leader I would hope Seb would do a job, but don't see much improvement, but only time will tell IF that's who it is, I guess we have to trust the management to lure a big hitting No 1 to the Abbey?
