    Coventry V Swindon 9th May

I have just caught up on the opinions and must say it's nice to read a thread where speedway fans are discussing and debating speedway in a friendly civil manner without the derision of certain South Coast troll like individuals, happy days. I was gutted the stream was not available but delighted by the result for the Robins, and great to see the young top 2 starting to mature into a real force, and for Steve W to show his form for the Robins as well as everyone else Commiserations to the Bees and their fans, I sincerely hope things pick up soon, Hans is a great No 1 and I'm sure can lead you back!

    Robins 2014

Love that clip I for one will miss the Abbey track, perhaps the straights are unusually long, but that's part of what makes it a great track, a bit of thinking combined with bravery, not just wide open and slide around a big egg. I have had the pleasure of watching many masters since the very early 70s and still think if prepared well it one of the fairest and best race tracks around, but as for the back straight bobs, well that's a story in their own right.

Certainly remember David Ashby having a rather nasty coming together with a post on bend 1 which I think resulted on a rather nasty injury from which he never really recovered. Can't remember when, but it was in the 70s for sure.

So, Nicolai Klindt it is, be interested to see what people think. I believe it could prove genius, but it could spell disaster, only time will tell if Rosco can get him motivated and confident again, if he can, could be a very good signing?

Final signing being announced in tomorrow's Adver apparently? It's usually up at 5.30am, so I will be checking in as soon as I hit my desk about that time!

God I'd forgotten those rather excellent Cheese & Onion Rolls, I could just eat one now!

I have no real idea who to suggest, that is up to management, but I would not be unhappy to see Zengota back, he was always reliable and as Spike said, should be getting his confidence back, I think he would most likely do a good job?
  8. Oh Dear, not sure which is worse, Hans with a sore hand or no Hans and presumably R/R? I suppose it depends how badly it's hurt. Right into mode Poole's to lose now, oh woe is Swindon, robbed by injuries.blah blah blah

    Swindon 2013

In my opinion Rosco was down before the meeting started. He is the leader and catalyst the team draw from. The fact that he was somber and not his usual self I think rubbed off on the team and had a huge affect on the result. That said I have utmost respect from him and for what he generally brings to the table, I hope Wednesday was just a bad day at the office and not an indicator of hidden issues. He wears his heart on his sleeve which lifts the boys immensely when he's up, but can have a negative affect if he's not. He has made some apparent strange decisions this year with Heat 15 pairings and which reserves, but only he knows why he made those choices and it is easy to criticise in hindsight. Let's hope we see the old happy Rosco back next meeting and the boys respond with some speed and a big win! Rosco, I will criticise, but I will always support you because Swindon Robins are part of your make up and you bring so much to the club, I remember watching you trundle round the track as a nipper, you've come a long way and achieved great things, keep it going! One swallow doesn't make a Summer (that is these days two consecutive days Sunshine!).

    Swindon 2013

I'm pretty sure you're correct, but it seems silly that he is signed to Swindon first, commits to their fixtures then the minute he signs as a D/U with a PL team they get priority over an existing commitment? Surely it makes more sense that at the start of the D/U agreement one or other team is nominated as the priority team, and if that agreement is part way through, the original contract takes priority whichever way it falls? EL plays second fiddle to PL, another nail in the EL coffin?

I think the 1 March rule is allegedly a Gentleman's verbal agreement made between all the promoters?? It's about as written down as the alleged ruling that Swindon must buy Batchelor seems to be (I am not doubting the ruling exists, but the detail has only been hinted at). I think that there are a lot of people on here who assume what they've heard from their respective promotions and press is correct and think it will fall in their favour! Me I don't wear Rose tinted spectacles and we all know what happens if you ass u me!!! I think I'll just wait and see, but I hope for the sake of the sport it is resolved quickly and a proper public statement issued so there is no doubt what was agreed at Committee!

    Swindon 2013

Unless you are the small number of posters who seem convinced Swindon are the Lucifer and Peterborough Jesus, then it only applies to Swindon! I read it any club, which I doubt will be an enforceable ruling??

    Swindon 2013

It would be very interesting to see the actual wording of this BSPA ruling regarding Batchelor, I recall seeing a quote from it in a Peterborough Paper within a Julie No Idea of Her Surname Is press release and I seem to recall it was something along the lines they have ruled Batchelor should be offered for sale if he leaves Peterborough, no destination clubs mentioned which is very different from must be purchased if Swindon want him! I think everybody will have their own soap box rose tinted view of this which is clear from many postings to date some of which appear to have been written with little knowledge of the truth and a high propensity of own team adoration! I just want to see things resolved and move on to having some speedway to watch!

    Swindon 2013

"The Management Committee decision to uphold a previous ruling that another of their assets, Troy Batchelor, can only leave the club on a full transfer.Australian ace Batchelor is wanted by reigning Elite League champions Swindon after helping the Wiltshire club to the title while on loan last year, but the Robins are not thought to be willing to buy him." I think this text from memory taken from a Julie release to the Peterborough local rag sums it up! "may only leave the club on a full transfer" no suffix of 'if he goes to Swindon' or 'but he can join Belle Vue on loan' So if no club wants to buy Troy if this rule is enforced I can see bad ramifications for the sport as it would clearly be denying him the opportunity to earn a living by signing for a team on loan (any team not just Swindon) and IF this wording is correct, I think the MC have dropped a bit of a semen producing spherical object here! It will be interesting to see how this plays out, can't see the Aces buying Troy, perhaps a loan deal will happen if this March 1 rule proves correct and takes precedence over this apparently unenforceable ruling? For the sake of the sport I hope all involved can see sense, shake hands and do a deal of some sort where the rider and clubs get a fair deal and another talent who is good to watch is not lost to the UK forever. Yes he may have in the past acted like a petulant child but at least he wants to ride in the UK.
  16. Based on a tweet from a few days ago, Mads will be in the line up, will he be the one being announced tomorrow?

    Swindon 2013

I agree this is all getting rather jaded and silly, but the bit that confuses me is that if I recall correctly the BSPA ruled Troy should leave Peterborough by sale rather than loan due to his saying various things etc, I don't recall it being specific to him joining Swindon? yet people seem to be under the impression he is free to join Swindon only with purchase, but Belle Vue on loan or purchase which differs from how I recall / interpreted the BSPA ruling??? Can anyone clarify or better still show what the exact wording of the ruling was? I must admit all the backstabbing and accusation of certain posters on these threads has become somewhat tedious, roll on the resolution!

    Swindon 2013

I may be wrong, but I am sure I read somewhere that if a rider is not signed by 1 March (loan or sale I presume) he has to be made available on loan whether or not the 'owning' club wishes to grant permission to talk to the rider???
  19. 65Sarge

    Panthers 2013 Thread

It looks like Hans was released, but only to talk to Coventry, Swindon appear to have been denied permission? As I say 'appear' it all appears to be silly buggers this winter, not good for the sport!

    Panthers 2013 Thread

Is this the final publication of speedway's worst kept secret coming later?? @kenneth_bjerre: Good news to come later today. Happy days. I for one hope so then maybe everyone can get on with talking about speedway rather than who's right or wrong in this whole debacle!

I apologise for liking Mr Brum's post, it just made me smile
  22. 65Sarge

    Swindon 2013

Perhaps because he was advised to by his manager or other wise person of the multitude of ways it might be interpreted and that it might cause issues with sorting out a riding deal if ever permission was granted to let him speak to potential clubs for 2013?
  23. 65Sarge

    Swindon 2013

Could've been a deal with a sponsor, a landlord to rent a house, who knows, but didn't mention a team or what sort of deal!
  24. 65Sarge

    Swindon 2013

People here keep saying Troy tweeted he was signing for Swindon then deleted the tweet. How many actually saw this tweet? I did, and it never mentioned Swindon nor that he had agreed anything I think it mentioned hope about sorting UK deal in next few days, I can't be 100% sure, but at least I am sure he never said he had agreed a deal with Swindon! I wasn't a big fan of Troy, but think he seems to have matured and has got the raw end of the deal this time!
  25. 65Sarge

    Swindon 2013

I question what constitutes an illegal approach? 1. Here are terms and a contract for next year Or 2. Would be interested in riding here next year? A vast difference, I'm sure Troy, Hans & NKI all had the second, but to me that is not an illegal it's an end of season conversation. Julie 'pants on fire' lady says "but I find that quite strange given I released Hans on December 21", in that case as far as I know Swindon as his club for the previous season have rights to first dibs on his services, but it is said Coventry were given permission to talk but Swindon refused? surely that's a rule breach? This is a mess, the BSPA are being totally inconsistent, Swindon are saying nothing and the Peterborough woman is blurting all sorts of guff it seems with little foundation! I give up, think I'll watch the paint dry!
