If work hasn't started on the "new" stadium I can't see it ever happening. Time a protest Swindon fans. Anyone know where Mr Osbourne lives?
-
The ONLY good thing that could possibly come from Somerset closing would be the return of the Bristol Bulldogs. Don't think it was ever going to happen with the Rebels running but I can't think of a better gamble to reintroduce speedway in the U.K.

Plymouth Vs Kent (Championship) - 1st June
Ghosty replied to ellioth4's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Why wasn't Bjarne given gate 1 for heat 15? that may have resulted in a Plymouth 5-1. -
Riders often ride with their front wheel over the inside line/curb perfectly legal, look's to me that things may not have been up to spec?
-
If Josh Bates (Sheffield) is a raising star then Nathan Stoneman must be............

Copied from tougher Zomerset tread. I would like to think the Hancock's will give a more in-depth interview on the overall reason why Somerset Speedway is no more, the loyal fans deserve it & other promotions could learn from it. I have said it before: I'm sure the year in the Premiership created huge debts, this hopefully would under normal circumstances have been clawed back over the last few years but with forced race nights & covid this didn't happen. To their "credit" the Hancocks never presented the begging bowl to the sponsors or the fans, maybe they should have? Maybe if they had been more open with any problems a solution might have been offered. Maybe, Maybe, Maybe, what is fact another one bits the dust.

How about Nathan Stoneman on Henry Atkins bikes - that would be an option! With Mike Atkins as main team sponsor could be a possibility.........
-
Once the clubhouse was sold (for a different use than the current one) there is no realistic way for speedway to run around it. So many ifs & buts, it was a brilliant race track producing great racing BUT never getting the crowds it deserved. R.I.P. the Oaktree Arena.

Plymouth v Poole 22/6/21 K.O. Cup 7pm

Question: What is the position for someone who had purchased a ticket for the (rain off) first meeting V Glasgow? -
Scunthorpe v Plymouth - Championship - 21.5.21
Ghosty replied to ScunnyDan's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Thanks for posting this Neil, we all the past promises of simplifying the Speedway rule book the promoters add this to the regs total bollox............ -
Friday 14th. mid day there are still the extra tickets for V Glasgow available about 100 or so. Do not turn-up on the night with out a ticket you will not/ cannot be allowed in. 1, 3, 5, 7 hear this roar from glorious Devon!

Nothing personnel, but with "similar" scores speedway needs racers not gaters, not R/R & not guest - so it has to be Jake 100%.
-
Just a thought are the Rebels supporters or Di from the track shop organising a coach or mini bus to Plymouths home meetings this year. With no speedway @ the OTA it would keep the Rebels hardcore united & the club alive? I'm sure Mark 'the undertaker' Phillips would do his upmost to accommodate.
-
Go the whole hog & buy a season ticket, I have. I can see plenty disappointed fans missing the first few meetings. In the words of Fred Pontin " REMEMBER BOOK EARLY".
-
Look's like you know a lot more than you're willing to say. Personally the longer we hear nothing the more I feel we may have seen the last of the Rebels which would be another nail in U.K. speedway's coffin.
-
Fingers crossed we may have some good news in this weeks Star!
-
It would be good manners towards the Rebels faithful, the Oaktree is a fantastic track, the facilities "clubhouse" & toilets were better than most, car parking brilliant & the team always competitive. I think the Hancocks are good people but are lacking in P.R. skills. I beginning to think no news is bad news?

2021 GP Series Dates
Ghosty replied to therefused's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
So why not Bradford? -
I remember when King's Lynn had the man to sort out all their commercial requirements & transform U.K. speedway Jonathan Chapman where would Speedway G.B. be now if he'd been given a free reign? P.S. Good luck Richard "spike" Knight.
-
I may be wrong but I think the year in the Premiership cost the Hancocks big time something they had not recovered from. What are the terms of the sale of the Oaktree: lease, rented or freehold? Certainly not the best of news. Somerset is a brilliant race track - but who & how do you get the crowd the track deserves.

Birmingham Brummies 2020
Ghosty replied to ProudtobeaBrummie's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Think it was the biggest problem with Rye House when they went-up. Best way to pay any speedway rider points = prizes (prize money). -
It's a joke if the parking hasn't been sorted @ the Showground by now. This reflects very badly on all involved surprised that a discriminations group have not come on board. This must be a relatively easy task to sort out & create some positive news for a change.
-
Would Connor Coles fill the gap?
-
Scenario: You have a potential team sponsor for the coming season, do you really want them to know that for one meeting last season your paying crowd was only 400 of course not! Let's all hope the current covid restrictions, once lifted MIGHT revitalise our sport with punters keen to see live action, there's certainly no positive steps that have been taken by the BSPL to address the issue.
