I would love for it to happen, but I can't see it. Jason Is based in the Northampton/ Peterborough area for 2022 which suits his current commitments & is perfect for Seth's road racing.

2022 Regulations - New Super Heat after Draw!!
Ghosty replied to Roger Jacobs's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Without going into the detail, this looks like it would favour the top heavy (richer) teams. I've said it before alcohol should be banned from BSPL meetings! -

In the Premier/Elite league a few years ago I'm sure you could only have 2 riders with an 8 point plus average? Why - it spreads the top riders around the league, it gives more balance to all teams. Top heavy teams have a "unfair advantage" especially heats in 13, 14 & 15. Time me thinks for a E.G.M. of the B.S.P. Limited & a reshuffle the 2022 team line ups.

Not good news for the Plymouth faithful, Birmingham have proved riders are not queuing up for the Championship. But remember Mark did pull a few rabbits out the hat last year with Peddersen & Crump - so fingers crossed!
-
Maybe to help out an old mate Crump could ride?

Steve Johnston the CURENT Western Australian Champion no less!

Had a motorcycle garage to the left of the main gate to the County Ground. Raced "Karts" in his later years. Former Exeter press officer Tony Lethbridge would have a lot more information.

Will people be able to afford to go
Ghosty replied to bri1966's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Interesting reading here, a good starting point for 2022 the promoters would be to get their priorities rearranged maybe something more like this: 1. Promote & advertise your race meetings, set your gate targets much higher then break even. 2. Present the riders with a well prepared race track & put extra effort/cash in as & when when required. 3. Have a few pre-season seminars for promoters & presenters in "How to present a speedway meeting for YOUR fans". 4. Have clean & presentable toilets that you would be happy for your own Wife, Daughter or family member to use. "5" Delete from your existing mindset "Must get in the playoffs @ all cost". My 55 years in speedway tells me I will have more chance of seeing pigs fly then even one promoter taking on board what I've said! -
I'm not really into podcast but this looked/sounded very good. I think it's the way speedway needs to go to attract the younger generations..........

Jason's crash @ Wolverhampton resulted in 7- yes seven broken ribs, when he returned he was still not race fit but still rode while in a lot of pain. On reflection Jason's 2021 comeback may not have been one of his best decisions BUT without that Wolverhampton crash would have been so much more of successful.

I think it's the perfect scenario for the initial meeting on a brand new track, then one or two "open" meetings. Build up to league racing in 2023 with your official return!
-
Does that leave Josh Bates free for the Brummies?

Congratulations on the great work Steve & all involved, look's like it will be a brilliant race track.

So your solution to find the riders UK speedway need is?
-
What I'm suggesting is to go back to 13 heats & then with all 14 riders + 4 local talents in the second half with sponsored final. The objective being discover & encourage MUCH NEEDED new riders but also freshen things up. Keep this going until we have enough riders to fill our team places without the hated double-up/ double-down shenanigans.
-
I personally think rider control did work 95% of the time! The current biggest problem in the U.K. is lack of riders per team places available. Maybe it's time to bring back second-half's & introduce 4 to 6 new riders per club to the sport with regular second-half rides. By next season you could have 30 riders in the U.K. ready for team spots. Also a couple of years of second-half's would "mix" things up a bit.

Mike Lee rode for the Fen Tigers before they were a league team 1974 I think?

I'm so glad the Fords have a good relationship with Mark "the Undertaker" Phillips because you would be well advised not to pi££ him off. Those of us that know Mark consider him a hard working man of his word, top bloke all-round, he fully deserves any success coming Plymouth's way in '22.

Has he signed or just said he will sign (re Richard Lawson!) If a rider can ride 2-3 meetings per week in the same country they must be £s better off than chasing top dollar in different country's. Has a speedway rider ever been punished for "ripping up" a signed contract, or any promoter for the same offence? I don't think many speedway riders ever seek the advice of their accountant when choosing which team/teams to sign for.
-
Unless riders are being paid good money, they will find excuses not to turn up.

Question: Do the Gladiators own Zac Cook's contact/registration? Who do they own.

Jason's grandfather Neil Street was one of the best ever "team managers" incorporating coach, motivator, advisor & talent spotter ever in the history of speedway. For a multitude of reasons I can see exceling in this new role.

Poole fans need to get involved with any "Local Plan" . The stadium needs to be (& seen as) a benefit to the community not just speedway once a week 8 months of the year. Its current use as a car park is probably seen as its biggest asset locally. There must be 20 different things that could operate & benefit the community from the stadium. I'm sure this will be the only way speedway @ Poole & in the U.K. will survive long term.
