If I were team manager , I would have told Scorps to get a 3-3 in heat 13 then give Dougy a tactical in heat 14

Maybe the Poole manager told his lads too?

You would like to think that it was also the "common sense" way of doing it..

Putting young lads up against some of the World's Top 10 without giving them the safety net of not being dropped is ludicrous to be honest..

Putting career pressure on young lads to score points against the likes of Doyle, Emil, Bewley, Fricke, and Holder simply helps no one, neither team, nor individual, nor watching fans....

I often hear Promoters bemoaning all the advantages the Poles have re their continued "conveyor belt of talent", and I get that owning their own tracks and/or having access to them at anytime is an advantage...

But I can pretty much guarantee that if four U21 lads rode at 6 and 7 in every single 2nd and 3rd tier meeting that took place over here, with 3 rides a meeting each guaranteed like the Poles do, you would have a much larger "conveyor belt of talent" over here..

You could even add to the "ring fenced mix", those aged 21+ riders who are "newbies" to the sport, as some of top riders down the years didnt start riding Speedway till well into their 20's..

I thought the Covid break would have given those who run the sport a huge opportunity to implement the radical change in operating model that is so clearly required...

Sadly they passed up the chance to move the sport forward long term, just like the promoters did when the Sky money was just used in the main to pay for GP riders, rather than increasing the awareness of the sport through marketing, and setting up a proper development programme for young riders..

Ring fencing four U21 lads per meeting to take a minimum collective 12 rides out of the 60 on offer, just may, (will), unearth GB riders to fill places in 1 to 5's down the line in the 3rd and 2nd tier's at the least..

And it also wont throw them in at the deep end without arm bands to help them float like currently can happen..

Good stuff but,,, it fell down in the first sentence, ("common sense"). ;)

His tweet confirms that he knew exactly what he was doing Mental Health Issues or not in no way can that be excused regardless.

Maybe there should be some kind of 'vetting' regarding mental health issues within speedway?

In some cases it could be like, giving a nutter a gun.

Apologies for misinterpreting your post.  It used to be 4h and 4a, but I think they changed that for reassessed averages, but can't remember what they changed it to! I am sure some kind person can inform us.

Just trawled through the rule book and for Championship riders with an assessed CMA it is 8 "qualifying" matches (presumably home and away - so you could ride 7 away and 1 home!) before they get a "proper" average.

Not sure Steve, where converted averages are concerned. Seem to remember (a think it was Adam Ellis) went somewhere on a converted ave. and it changed pretty quickly, possibly on the next set of GSA's,,, but that was then.

One day you'll come up with something positive and develop a can do attitude instead of constantly coming up with reasons why things can't be done... be sure to tag me in when you do ;)

Just pointing out facts.  Maybe the best thing to do would be start the season later and finish it earlier?  With the amount of fixtures, should be pretty easy to do.

Only, if life was so simple? ;)

Thoroughly enjoyed my trip down to Redcar last night against a good Diamonds team. If we had had something like that team in the last couple of years we would still be running, instead of being butchered.

Thanks go the Redcar promotion for the agreement to hold this meeting, which benefited both clubs supporters.

Thanks to all the ex Diamonds sponsors and the Diamond fans for sponsoring the meeting and making it possible. It was great to see the number of Diamond supporters in attendance and I hope that will be a sign for the future. We all need our fill of Speedway so why not support Redcar who has so many Newcastle connections.

Amazed at the condition of the track especially after its condition on Sunday. It held up well, obviously slick but it did mean that practically all races had 4 riders together instead of being strung out. It wasn't ripe for passing, but there was the usual burst around the boards coming out of the second bend still and a few tried it. Pity about Danny K's fall after taking it on but pleased he was OK.

On my way down I went through heavy rain the other side of Hartlepool, but that's where it stayed, except for a few drops later on in the meeting.

Nice to be involved with the Junior match again, with some decent performances in the Cubs 8 point win.

I think the Bears will do well this year, with 3 top heatleaders, and some gutsy second strings and reserves. Not a good night night for Jake M, as he couldn't get out of the gate, but when he does watch out for a fresh new talent to emerge. He is very fast, only 18, and I had the pleasure of watching in the Colts team all last year. He's going to be a great reserve, the same as you had last year with Jenkins.

So yes, I am now a Redcar supporter now. They have done wonders to get where they are and it will continue I am sure.

Was that a pun Dave? ;)

BAGS meeting.  Hardly anyone turns up to watch for a BAGS meeting.   Spectators normally attend evening fixtures.

No, just me and the young-un, bet they thought they had customers, lol!!!

Anyway, he's been to see the 'dog-racers' now, so that's off the list. :t:

From what I believe when enquired about Roynon they were told he’d be on his 6.00 assessed as was given for Plymouth. As he hadn’t done enough to get a proper average he stays on his assessed one given. Academy just following what the BSPA have decided.

That's all you can do really,,, follow the guidance?

I'm not bothered if the meeting takes place or not as I stopped going to meetings a while ago due to my

age (76), what I was querying was could Redcar run this meeting as Newcastle is now closed

    14 hours ago, scampispeedway said:

Can I mention that the Tyne Tees Trophy was run over two legs and as Newcastle do not have a Track, Promoter or any Riders registered

in their name who will pay anybody for riding under the Newcastle name for this meeting, I wonder if Redcar will be glad to pay the extra

money hoping that a good crowd attends from Newcastle.

I'm sure that the the BSPA will not sanction a team put out in the name of Newcastle since they stopped many teams from using a former

clubs name from riding at another track, Cradley Heath springs to mind.

    Quite a query that! ;)

This is hilarious.  You expect the paranoia from the other end of the M8 , but the affliction goes much further than there .

Speedway fan - wish the league had a sponsor

    Speedway God- it has now

Speedway Fan - yeah but its a Glasgow promoters company , surely that's a conflict of interests

    Speedway God - how ?

Speedway fan - i dont know it just is . Thats them trying to buy the league again

    Speedway God - how ?

Speedway fan - ( getting more worked up ) I dont know it just is . It seems well dodgy though .

Speedway God - in what way ?

Speedway fan ( reaching for the valium) i dont know it just is .

So there you have it , the league and the sport badly needs sponsors , but only.if it's the right kind of sponsor . If Vladimir Putin owned Cab Taxis , nobody on here would bat an eyelid . But anything to do with splash the cash Glasgow and its , " oh no no no we cant have that "

Well,,, if its got owt to do with taxi drivers and money, it's gotta be well dodgy!!!

Thanks for that. Yes the real meat burgers were on before 2004, probably 02/03, and the caravan disappeared then as well. I wonder if the stadium owners objected to it for the later seasons. I've always thought Scunny were all right for food, although it would probably something with chips as i am not a connoisseur like you. Jen's cooking stops that.

Can't remember where Benji Compton had that crash, but remember the big lad that the bike nearly hit, wasn't letting go of his burger!!! (musta been good)

Although not speedway, but if you can, try the Butterfly Cabinet on Heaton Road,,, best burger av ever had. :t:
