Ruffdiamond, as much as I don't like sites like Facebook, I've signed on and found the NSSA Forum, and

seen the comments and as I suspected all the stuff that was Speedway related has now been cleared away.

That doesn't help any body wanting to bringing back Speedway back to Brough Park and as Barry Wallace

stated on Look-North the attraction for Speedway overall has dropped over the years and it no longer provides

value for money for the average working family man.

    Exactly!

Where can I read the posts on the NSSA Furum ?

There is a NSSA Facebook page that you should be able to access,,, sorry I wouldn't know how to do a link. :t:

But there is some good pragmatic comments on there, looking at the bigger picture.

The Hare is propelled by a cable running along the outer edge of the track and outside you can hear the

motor whine as it goes round.

One of the track staff has it in their hands and there is an area where the hare is brought to a stop and this

allows them to quickly covered it up.

I have watched a few Greyhound races on Youtube and seen this happen a lot as well as been to one meeting

when we got a pass to attend a Greyhound meeting and put on the odd bet.

I never got into the event and couldn't get over the lack of atmosphere whilst watching the races compared

    to a Speedway Meeting.

Aye, they have a blue box at Brough,,, av heard that animals don't like the colour blue?

At the end of the race, the hare is quickly enclosed with a box and the speed of the hare is regulated so it is always kept

just out of reach of the Greyhounds

    Is there someone pedalling it?

Just had a great idea for a TV ad for Frank's carpets.  ;)

'The pits have been dismantled so that's probably it'? No they've not, they're behind you on camera Barry?! :D Brough Park hardly looks to be in the state that Brandon is and we're still trying to get that back!

No, that's only one side of the pits.

Can't see speedway returning to Brough while dog racing is still going on there?,,, 'Dog Racing', should be outlawed, those poor buggers chasing an old piece of carpet around,,, they're not even allowed to play with it if they catch it!!! ;)

    You're a cynic!

In fact just checked the online dictionary and you are definitely a cynic!

One of the definitions even read @ruffdiamond to be  cynical; cynic like! so yes your a cynic... :t: ;)  :o

A think you are definitely correct in this scenario, a suppose there will be many of the opion that, the dog folk done they're utmost best to welcome speedway and help it's longevity at Brough.

Also Dave I was told that the greyhound people ( not sure how true tho ) that they wanted the Newcastle track staff to lift the dogs starting gate before a speedway match & then lift it back onto the greyhound track after the speedway sheeting was put away which meant that the sheeters had to do even more work.. & from what I seen towards the end some of the new helpers never had a clue what to do unlike the our band of volunteers/workers

TBH, moving the traps wasn't hard and actually made the job easier (own goal), pity they hadn't insisted on it years ago!!!,,, the moving of the pin kerb, however, was a right little gem tho. Although the process to overcome that little problem was well in hand before closure. Call me a cynic but, you know that feeling when someone is trying to p!ss you off?,,, just hurdle after hurdle. ;)

Why would the landlords remove the fencing. That doesn’t make sense at all. Why pay someone to remove it when they can remain where they are like they have for the previous 90 years.
is this grant removing them so if anyone wanting to take over has extra expense   Now the company is kaput he won’t receive any money if he sells them

Maybe the fence was/will be removed to allow the dog racing to 'appear/look' cosmetically better on the TV channels?

Who wants to see a dirty old speedway track whilst watching dogs racing?
