Which Rider Is On The Best Value Average

Tbf, it would be wrong to base average on what he is expected to score as a second string in the new format, as that would give him an inflated average compared to those with rolling averages from 2013. Agree he should have been a 5 though.
  2. I partly agree with ei on this. Im not concerned qbout delay in race format per se, no real rush for it to be available significantly in advance of season (the only benefitvwould have been if it was available prior to team building starting). However, the concerns raised about issues the new format, nl reserves etc. will cause on averages etc. are genuine. And given past performance, its not unreasonable to be concerned that the bspa may not have thouggt all the implications tgrough. The ironic thing of course is that the release of the news format is unlikely to answer any of the questions around rules on re declarations and team building limits/average conversion s for 2015, which are actually I believe the msin concerns of those clamouring for its release 5th rider is covered in my alternative suggestion that the rider immediately above could take a replacement ride after both reserves had taken a ride each. Or u could rwesk the rule so tgat first replacement ride was taken by a reserve, next ride could be taken by fourth in sverages, then back to reserve for nextvheat).Yes it might be tough on the team with the injured rider. But no tougher than curent rules where an injured number one could only be replaced by reserves?

To be fair to Harris, lots of people on here moan about riders not being pro active in seeking sponsorship. Harris has asked the general public to "sponsor" part of the cost of gp engines. If you don't want to, and I imagine most wont, then just dont. Tbh, harris has almost nil chance of a top 3 spot even with top mschinery, so I can understand a rider nearing the end of his career not wanting a large additional outlay on engines. But if his bikes are too slow I can imagine him copping a hard time on here for that as well. And how many testimonials will attract 5000 people? Likely to be a couple of thousand less, which will include concessions and of course vat needs to be deducted from the ticket price as well.
  4. I thonk this is actually a good rule change it just needs the rules around usevto be well thought out.Trach doctor has to sign off rider as unfit to continue. First replacement ride must be taken by a reserve. No rides may be taken by a rider with a higher average (or a ride may be taken by the rider immediately above the injured rider in the averages, but only after all those below, including both reserves, have taken a rrplacement ride). I think that would be sufficient to prevent manipulation, at yhe same time reducing the massive disadvantage which would otherwise occur due to the loss esrly in the meeting of a top five rider.

Which Rider Is On The Best Value Average

Will no doubt increase his aberage but cant see it being 7. 7 would see him promoted to a heat leader slot, where with expected formula I couldnt see him averaging more than 4. I think he will remain a second string with an average of about six. Not all riders will improve their average. The weaker heat leaders are actually likely to decrease. Bear in mind there are only a certsin number of points to go round - top five for each team start with a cumulative average of 32 and avsilable points each meeting for top five is likely to equate average of around 32.8 (even assuming reserves take two points off top 5 per meeting there are only 74 points from 44 rides available which would equate to an average of 33.3 per team). So there will not be a massive increase overall. The "average" reserve will aversge a bit over 4, but its highly unlikely that they all will. Someone like garritty may average as high as eight, the weakest reserves may average under 3.

That was in response to you saying that surely a testimonial would allow him to support his family? I imsgine most sportspeople, bar those who reach the very top in certain sports, will need to work after retiring from sport. The issue many will have is thst having dedicated themselves to their chosen profession for twenty years, they may have very few skills that directly transfer to a new career. Accordingly, I certainly dont begrudge those who mske good money in their relatively short sporting career, especially in a dangerous sport like speedway. 375k isnt a huge amount for someone nesr the top of their profession to spend on a house surely? As a reference the average house price in auckland is around 300k (when converted to pounds), and I dont think salaries in nz are generslly higher than in the uk.

What do u reckon a rider gets from a testimonial - 10-15k? Nice sure, but in itself hardly going to set you up for retirement at the age of say 35 is it?

But if psrents take a child, they, not the child, are likely picking up the bill. With a disabled person, it is likely thst they and not the carer have to pick up the bill. That's a fundamental difference imho. I dont think that clubs should HAVE to offer carers or disabled people concession rate s. But I think it is morally the right thing to do.
  9. And hancock is gary lineker - some people get sick if being told how clean and nice he is.Fwiw I like greg, have friends who know jsdon bunyan and he brought greg round to meet their son whi is a big ffan. Id rather watch nicki or darcy though, no matter how much I may dislike their on and off track behaviour.

Yes, but at least you must be pleased with the decrease in contrivance and corruption. At lesst the trend is in the right direction - midern speedway so much better in this regard than say in the 70s

Ok it was a fkippant comment, but the same applies to almost anything (eg you can't throw 50% of a head when flipping a coin).Quite awsre of the difference berween success rates and probability, and presumably doyles probability of getting a visa is higher than the generic success rate, which I think was mentionef somewhere on this thread. Probability is not exclusively linked with rsndom events, although events such as flipping a coin you can calculate probability as opposed to estimating probability, as weatherwatcher did. I fundamentally disagree thst doyles chance is either zero or 100, just asI do with those on here who state that where there are two posdible outcomes the chance of either is 50%. Anyway I think thats wasted enough of the Leicester thread! Any views on probability of them finishing bottom

Tbh, having a child is a choice.Having a disabled child or s disability is generally not. I think thats a fundamental difference.

You must be a fan of the chsnge to double point from yhe old tac sub then, seeing as it resultd in far fewer contrived results. And much prefer gps over the old one off finals, as there is a greatly reduced likelihood of collusion or fixed results.
  14. No, and that wss part of scbs point. The other being which rider is most entertaining and generates most tslking points.Pedersen is the modern day kenny carter in my view, but with three world titles to show for it.

Why did u state that u cant get 90% of a visa, which has nothing to do with probability? That seemed to indicate confusing likelihood of an event occurring (probability) for the percentage of sn event which occurs.Probability is not confined purely to random elements, but im sure you know that, right? Do you really believe there is no interpretation required as to whethet someone is eligible for a visa? For someone to say that based on known info, doyle has a 90% chance of being granted a visa seems totally I reasonsble.
  16. waiheke1

    Leicester 2014 . Elite

You obviously have no understanding of the concept of probability if that is what u think.Acvording to your logic, my chance of winning the lottery is the same as it is of flipping a head on a single coin toss (it will either happen or not happen).

By bp I meant bonus points
  24. Unless there is a change in the number of nominated races, the race format shouldnt impact in anyway on how to fill in the programme?
  25. waiheke1

    Leicester 2014 . Elite

Excluding bp? he will be on a new home track and having more races against heatcleaders, albeit offset by a slight lowering standards of heat leader (no lindgren, hancock etc) . Id tip him to finish a shade below 8, but could well be proved wrong - obviously in good form in the oz champs.
