  1. Ritchie Hawkins out, Simon Lambert in... Maybe not such a great shock as Ritchie has been struggling, but as Len Silver has basically admitted that he's given up on this season any unenforced (does such a word exist?) team changes are surprising.

Not sure if that's an improvement to be honest, but I'm willing to give him a chance.

Thought Ritchie was well of the pace not just last night but last couple of meetings ive been to so it dont really surprise me. Like you, willing to give Simon a chance but lets face it, it cant get much worse for the rockets in 2012 can it??

  2. Don't be too sure... Len has shown that he is already building for next season with the surprise signing of Kasper Likke, who nobody had heard of and has shown promise already in just a couple of meetings... He has been heard despairing at the low crowds this year, so he has the option of building an exciting young side to atempt to get the crowds back... You can guarantee that Ritchie Hawkins won't be in the side after todays shock team news!

Noticed Stefan Ekberg on the terraces last night. Maybe he could come up with another exciting young Swede in the Linus mould.

Len could also consider a radical shake up of the admissions policy, offering a family ticket (a perennial bugbear of mine) and revamping the presentation, which seems to be stuck in the 70's.

Think Len has got the best chance now to get the best team for next year and it wont be a surprise to see Kasper there, hope he is.

I dont think that there will be a NL team next year as Len said at the start of this season he had to think long and hard about having a NL side for this season.

And whats the shock team news Shadders???

  3. Totally agree

Getting a bit tired of the negativity from certain people. Next years team has plenty of room for improvement on current averages and seven riders who want to ride for the club

    Neath -

exceptional 2011 season should maintain average there or thereabouts Mr Rocket say no more

    Bowen -

hope for an injury free season will improve average, cut him in half he'll bleed blue and yellow

    Hawkins -

Had slow start to last season with machinery issues/new track, great middle order man every team needs a Ritchie Hawkins solid home and away

    Frampton -

Had a difficult campaign last year, great at home even better away and a tougher rider you couldn't wish to meet on track

    Nelson -

Slow start to 2011 but once machinery issues and track knowledge, team riding fell into place a totally different rider, say no more just a huge talent that when nurtured can go a long way

    Bunyan-

Difficult couple of years with injury if fully fit will ride any track big or small and score points, Mr entertainment, oh and on that average an absolute bargain!!!

    Garrity-

Great signing knows and rides the track well massive prospect and entertaining to say the least

Yes we are 2.33 under the limit and we could of signed such and such rider, but who knows what goes on behind the scenes and the kind of demands certain linked riders were making, if all the pieces fall into place and a good team spirit grows with a strong reserve pairing all season then that team has everything needed to do very well.

Its time to get behind them!!

Good post..(I am nothing to do with Rye House Speedway just some one who enjoys the sport).....OK we are under the limit but unless you know how much each available rider is demanding and how much they are for sale and anything else they are demanding from a new team, no one has the right to say, they should of gone for this rider, they should of gone for that rider. The rumour mill has certainly been working over time this year.Yes every one has an the right to an opinion but, does anyone else think its about time to stop moaning about the whole Rye House team and get behind the guys because i for one think this is a better team than we had last year and has the prospect to do very well indeed. Come on The Rockets :t:

Also good to see little Ben Morley back next year at Rye House all beit for the Raiders

  4. With five of the regular riders returning for 2012 and Bunyan now confirmed as the sixth rider at the Rockets for 2012 who is this british teenager who has 'nearly' joined the Rockets, any ideas anybody.

    Neath 8.61

    Frampton 7.71

    Nelson 5.33

    Hawkins 5.18

    Bowen 5.03

    Bunyan 4.74

    TBC ???

  5. Tai Woffinden and Ben Barker are now no shows for todays last event at Rye House. Anybody know who is replacing them, if anybody, at such short notice?? I was only going to go to see Tai and with him and Ben now out and Spurs on Sky dont think there will be as many people there today now.

  6. It's my opinion, so it's not ridiculous... It's an opinion, just like your opinion is not ridiculous... Not having respect for other people's opinions, however foolish you may think they are, shows intolerance and an intimidatory attitude.. I've never been a fan of these kind of meetings where the title is decided over 4 laps.

Totally agree with you Shadders. just seems a waste of time the person with the most points doesnt win they do all the hard work getting the most points on the night, for example last night, only to come 3rd. Like you say its only an opinion but its your opinion, its my opinion and every has their opinion and everybody should respect each others opinion whether they think its right or wrong and not start sl***ing everyone off because they dont agree or like what some one has written

  7. There seems to be a few people on here lately that have got something against Ben Morley. I thought he had a fantastic night last night and just goes to show what he can do on the night. Some said it was to soon for him to get a call up for the rockets team this year must of been a huge moral booster when he got the call to ride for the Rockets then a huge moral let down when he got dropped and then to come back from all that to ride like he did last night i for one thought was brilliant. He was the only rider to drop only a point from his five rides and he posted one of the fastest times of the night. Shane was also on good form but again i thought little Ben rode better. I got talking to Ben a few weeks ago when some of the Hawks team where promoting speedway in general at a fair and the young lad has certainly got his head screwed on. Ben Morley has got a excellant furture infront of him and i hope he stays with the Rockets or the Hawks/Cobras or what ever they are going to be called next year. A good nights racing and congratulations to all the riders.
