I am still of the opinion that for the Elite League to survive then the promoters must start to negotiate with their landlords with the view that we have Monday nights for all Elite League meetings, But I can hear them shouting that it is impossible, but it’s not impossible at the moment if Sky want to televise their meeting. It will also be beneficial for the fans that will be able to watch top English & continental riders in their teams and paying Elite League prices to see genuine top class speedway instead of paying top rates to watch mostly Premier & National League riders. The fast track system is not working except for the few riders that were going to make it anyway, but from what I have seen there are a lot of national league riders tied up in this fast track system that are losing their confidence and their heads are beginning to hang very low which proves that this is a step too far. In my opinion the fast track could have worked with both leagues by giving two British premier league riders the chance to prove themselves as reserves in the elite league and two national league riders as reserves in the premier league which is the way rider progression should work.

There are too many riders going on the lash after a meeting even though they will be riding the next evening and even worse they will more than likely be driving their vans while still under the influence of alcohol and contrary to belief it not always the Aussies who are to blame and during my time as a medical officer I have advised many riders of all nationality's that if they are riding or driving within the next 24 hours then to refrain from drinking as they could well be over the limit if caught driving by the police or made the subject of a random alcohol test before the meeting and that if they failed either test then it would impact on their career as a speedway rider and I must admit that the few riders who have told me to "F" off and mind my own business have mostly been Brits. I am still of the belief that there are not enough random tests for alcohol & drug abuse before domestic meetings, I have offered my services in this field for expenses only. But told that there was not a need for it in British speedway but if some of the people with the BSPA, the ACU & the SCB would take off their blinkers then we could have this problem resolved within the next few years

The alcohol limit for all riders, Promoters, and all other officials including track staff is ZERO. there would not have been time for a result on any other substance unless they have a Laboratory at the track. All riders know what the limit is and in my days of involvement in speedway I always advised that they do not drink alcohol for at least 24 hours before a meeting

Reminds me of the thrashing that Exeter gave Arena Essex I believe it was a score of 65-15 (back in the 13 heat format days) But these score lines are not helping the sport or the promoters with such high scores. you can't blame Somerset they came to do a job and did it These teams should be penalised for fielding such a weak team, and if Len Silver can't do better than this then he should be refused entry into the premier league in 2015 but offered a place in the National league. I used to respect Len both as a rider and as a very shrewd promoter but that is disappearing now and I feel that the time has come for Len to retire and enjoy the rest of his life...................

Any Doctor attending a speedway event must be British Association for Immediate Care trained (BASICs) all Doctors from GP's to Brain Surgeons require this qualification to attend any motor sport event, so the excuse that he had never attended a speedway meeting will not hold water, if he was correctly trained then he would know what equipment would be required

Sky should adopt the pay per view for Sky Sports then we could watch the domestic meetings that we want to watch and not have football rammed down our necks all the time and it would work for me because after 50+ years supporting speedway I am now prohibited from attending meetings due to health problems

The Chief Medical Officer must sign the meeting certificate in the presence of the Clerk of The Course before the meeting can start so why was it signed, then some 40 minutes later it was found out that the Doctor/Paramedic did not have their trauma kit, when there should have been a kit to NHS standard carried on the vehicle, the only other reason is that the CMO forgot his controlled drugs for anaesthesia or life support. but I get the feeling that the medics are being the scapegoats

I think that having all Elite League meetings on a single night is great, as Tai said in his interview when Sky cover a meeting then the promotion will bend over backwards to accommodate them, so why not hold all meetings on a Monday night I am sure that the landlords could be negotiated with and knowing that their stadium would be featured on TV with world wide rights every few weeks. Someone on this site posed the question asking “How can Sweden afford to have so many top riders in their teams” it’s simple maths if you only have one meeting per week then you only have to pay your top riders air fares once instead of two or three times a week plus the possibility of hotel charges, that will help the promoter to keep speedway viable with reduced overheads and the likes of Birmingham could still be racing For the speedway fans you would be able to see some top riders every week with the likes of Chris Holder, Greg Hancock & Tai Woffinden to name but a few instead of seeing an Elite League team consisting of 1 top rider, I Elite league second string, 3 Premier League Riders & 2 Fast Track riders. While I respect every rider in all the leagues I fell that the current format is not the best interest for what is supposed to be the best league in the country or in the interest of many of the fast track riders I feel that the fast track system should have been introduced into the Premier League in the first instance where the racing skills are closer. But if it came to the vote I would cast my vote for a single nights racing What a blinkered view, it's the top riders that are the best for speedway in general

The rules are clear enough if the race is stopped because that rider fell on his own accord , and that was confirmed by Mr Morris then that rider will be excluded from the rerun. and no you will never win against the truth

I have been going to speedway for many years, back then they had the 30 yard rule where by all riders had to stay in their lane until they reached the 30 yard marker but now that this rule has gone all the riders merge into the race line from the tapes which will result that there could be first bend bunching but as in the race in question the riders had reached the second bend when one rider parted company with his bike and as commented by the rider "Max didn't do anything wrong, he didn't touch me" which means that Max was blameless for this accident and the referee was correct in excluding that rider. As for the comment that because it was a pairs final that the offending rider should be allowed to restart the race from the 15mtr line as far as I see it the race was started in the first instance with 2 riders from each team, one rider fell and he was judged as the cause of the stoppage and excluded from the rerun so why should the opposing team be penalised by having to race against a rider that was fresh and was mounted on a machine with a near new tire

That is not down to home track advantage a lot of these scores are that the teams are beaten before the start just like the Danes where always beaten as soon as they took a look at the size of the County Ground and it's steal plate fence How can there be track advantage when the rebels have only won the title once since the start

in an ideal world that would work, but Somerset do not have home track advantage, in fact the OTA is the fairest track in British speedway and the location of the OTA makes it the perfect venue to hold the pairs the night before the Cardiff GP, there is more than ample parking for cars and there is plenty of room for your caravan and from what was printed in this weeks Speedway Star there is also a coach service from the OTA to Cardiff if you want to make full use of the facilities to make a weekend of it. I believe that this is a perfect partnership between The BSI, The BSPA & the Somerset promotion to provide the speedway fans with a tailor made weekend of speedway
