When was the last time he was around? Cant even remember seeing him at BP.

when you think number 1, you got your sam masters, stevie w, cooks, etc. that come to your mind straight away

i know many of us wanted josh pickering cause he could have built up to a one but hes got poland now.

but bwd? When did he light up the no1 spot for anyone? What year? Do i need a time machine?

Berwick have chris harris, that will get folk in the gates from anywhere now. We needed a legit name for us to raise eyebrows/pull in folk to watch week by week.

We’ve had big names in the past didn’t really pull in fantastic crowds remember Robert Lambert and Steve Worrall in the same team??? Also having a big number 1 doesn’t guarantee squat

    Complin? Seriously?

Looking at that team, they are wooden spoon winners. It really is a shame a team can be made up of Starke and a bunch of also rans.

I paid my first ever visit to Newcastle last season for the double header with Plymouth. A decent crowd which was good but the Poole meeting was a one sided slaughter. And that Newcastle team looked stronger than this one. Now I fully understand that teams are built to a budget, but a winning team attracts more fans through the door and this team will struggle to score enough points to win at home.

I wish Newcastle every success in 2022. Perhaps they could ask moneybags NUFC to be club sponsor. A fraction of a percent of NUFC’s budget would guarantee the clubs survival.

Team is definitely stronger than last years team. Then again your a Poole fan and Poole fans are always right.

Too much policy's and too many rules about at the moment and I'm a proud anti-vaxxer.

Not to worry though because in the meantime I'm just going to spend more time on here just to wind people like you up.

Merry Christmas, Happy New Year and sorry about your woeful 1-7.

You might think it’s a woeful 1-7 and everyone is entitled to their opinion even ignorant Anti-Vaxcers like yourself but at least we have a team to support when for a long time it looked like we wouldn’t. Just ask any supporters from any of the teams that no longer run I’m sure they’d appreciate any team to shout for.

I don’t usually waste my time but, as it is Christmas:

Mr Courtney, it is my opinion, shared by many I know, that you are the biggest waste of space that walks the earth.
Your negativity is only exceeded by your ignorance and Newcastle speedway is far better off since you were given the bum’s rush by its owner.
    Apparently

He’s not everyone’s cup of Tea but once you get to know the man he’s ok. He’s also very knowledgeable about most of what he posts and is usually quite correct. If he doesn’t attend Brough I think it would be a shame and he’ll be a miss.

What happened to the last rider that Rob talked about who would bring the team strength close to the points limit and be challenging for honours, or did I dream that.

Could have said it before he had his arm twisted to take George and is now paying the price of only getting upto a 6.50 rider, and less clout in heats 13 and 15 again.

Who says he had his arm twisted?

We never had these ‘foreign benefit seeking drug people’ 40 years ago but we did have ‘benefit seeking drug taking people’ 40 years ago in Walker. The place has a reputation for a reason, if you think otherwise then you are a fool. Don’t get me wrong there is good everywhere but don’t try and polish a turd.

The same can be said for Blakelaw,Benwell,Fawdon,Kenton etc. To single out one area seems a little unfair.

Pointswise with George being on a 4 apparently, we would have just about 6pts (depends on the %age reduction applied to other riders) so the likes of Kyle Newman would fit. Had we gone with Archie on a 2 we could have had someone like Ritchie W. :(   Imagine heats 13 and 15 with a Ritchie and Bradley Dean our representatives.

The way the rumours are going about Richie agreeing to join this team then changing his mind I’m glad we didn’t.

  8. The team is what it is. There seems to be a lot of negativity already which in my opinion is astonishing considering what nearly happened.

Signing riders at Newcastle has never been easy with us being a Sunday track. However add Brexit into the mix along with Poland dictating things and I presume it got a whole lot harder.

Maybe the Worralls,Howarths etc we’re approached and either turned us down or politely told us they were going elsewhere.

Maybe Some of them told us they’d ride for us but can’t as hoping to race in Poland.

Nobody knows apart from the Promotion.

At the end of the day nobody gave Peterborough a hope in hell last year and looked what happened.

    Interesting.

That team without Archie is 32.03 so that leaves 9.97, if we are working to 42 limit. Add on the young Kiwi at either 4 or 2 that leaves a good chunk  near 6 or 8 for the last rider. Given  Robs admission that last year's shortfall in the teams points total would not be repeated, and we would be challenging for the top position, and the last one in would be just within the limit,  who thinks that will not occur and someone else's youngster will make up the team. Is everyone happy with that team then.

I’m happy just to have a team to be honest

No worries, I’m glad you’re running, and thought your first few signings were good, but that’s a lot of wasted points on the NZ lads imo, that is all. 12.75 on the 2 of them is too much for me, both of them about 2pts over what they actually are

Again that’s your opinion but I’m happy enough with the team so far

He didn't achieve the average he comes in on. His average was around 6 in champ. He comes in on a converted Prem average and will therefore drop straight down after the first month as he reverts to his rolling champ ave.

I suspect George has a month to show he's capable or he'll be out when more points become available.

Ok I stand corrected but still not a bad signing. Not sure they’ll give George just a month but then again just my opinion. What people really need to remember is that because of Brexit and Poland there is no longer an abundance of riders available. Add to that Newcastle race Sundays the pot dwindles again. I believe we have around 5.5/6 points remaining so look forward to seeing who the remaining rider will be.

  12. Welcome BWD and George. Lot of negativity regarding BWD but people have to remember he achieved the average he’s got in a stronger league pre Covid. Let’s get behind them and remember not too many weeks ago we were faced with the prospect of no speedway. Looking forward to hearing the last piece of the jigsaw.

  13. My mate’s Sisters Brother-in-Law has been told off someone who bought a Chronicle from someone selling them in the city centre that her uncle’s cousin reckons we’re in Talks with Laguta who they reckon comes in on a 3 point average because he once watched Neighbours and has a Kylie poster on his wall. Keep it to yourself

Obviously you must know something from your Saturday evenings up on Longbenton my mate

Absolutely not just because we’re friends doesn’t mean he’s going to tell me anything. We were friends long before he became a promoter and hopefully will be for a long time yet.Furthermore I wouldn’t expect him to tell me anything and if he did I certainly wouldn’t come on a public forum to tell everyone. They call me Jim not Mala
