He was ill

Dopnt forget that Leicester City were playing with a 3pm kick off. That match wouldn't finish until around 5pm and some people would not visit both events.

Lee Kilby is not to blame in what happened at Eastbourne as for the 500 k houses 500 k you are joking ??? Those people who bought those premises should have no say whatsoever they knew the speedway was there it has been there from 1949 simples. If they are not happy pick somewhere else they should have no say at all.
Just like Mildenhall!!!

Well I saw Connor Mountain listed on the website this morning at 8:30am!

This particularly incensed me as the visibility of the Speedway product in Leicester is almost non-existent, If you're not already in the know. I made a few comments/suggestions on the Leicester 2021 thread to which a few people took exception to. A couple of posters suggested that if I were that concerned why don't I put my suggestions to the promotion... so I did... No reply, so if I can still be bothered I will continue to "consistently moan" on here about some of the easy wins that Leicester could do with little or no cost. I don't know if you remember but we won the last Championship league title in 2019, the club's first league win EVER! Never gets mentioned at Beaumont Park the club have made zero capital on what they spend all year trying to win.
This refered to the cubs meetings!

Well done to the Plymouth promotion for being up front with their fans. According to the Leicester website and twitter feed Bjarne is still riding!
Is that a fact or are you guessing!

It may well have been the correct business decision, I don't know, the club may have just been postponing their loss. It was certainly an incorrect sporting decision.
Is Speedway the only sport that gets itself into such a mess with fixtures? I can think of no other. It's worse than it's ever been with rider availability, for whatever reason, and now we're postponing meetings because it might rain.
Hindsight is a wonderful thing!!

I'm watching The Hundred final... they didn't cancel their event based on a weather forecast. They've got 30,000 people in attendance...
Hindsight is a wonderful thing!!!

32 minutes ago, iainb said:What's the point of calling off meetings on a clear Saturday night in the summer and then having to run loss making double headers to cram the fixtures in to qualify for play offs and a show piece final that will most likely be held on a wet track in the last week of October?
Fixtures very rarely used to be called off before 6pm on race day after a track inspection. If this is the new world we are living in these meetings that are cancelled should not be restaged, just like in cricket, another fairweather sport
The weather forecast for the leicester meeting was heavy, thundery rain. It did not happen but I still think that the right decision was made.

12 hours ago, iainb said:Another match cancelled tonight based on an incorrect forecast, this time at Glasgow.
Edinburgh now have to arrange to go to Birmingham and Eastbourne because they were shifted to one side to allow for a bigger crowd.
Trouble at Lynn last night. If they'd known it wouldn't have been re-staged a few of them may have been a bit more keen to ride!
1 point a piece and move on!
The match was postphoned due to a flooded track!!

I meant Lions products other than a programme.

12 hours ago, iainb said:Back in the day, the home promotion would be on the mic to apologise and explain what was going on... anybody that attended tonight was mugged off! If Eastbourne can't afford to send a team the match should have been postponed and to announce the advertised Ed Kennett's absence minutes before the parade in the age of social media is unforgivable!
Eastbourne could use all available riders to cover Kennets rides using R/R

Lawson appeared to pack up his equipment after the incident in heat 13. His spot in the pits was empty after heat 14.

Ears in?
Or
Ears out?
Reminds me of the days when riders didn't know whether to wear their race suits inside or outside of their boots.
I'm an ears out man myself
Ian, which promotional products have you bought recently?

On 8/14/2021 at 9:58 AM, iainb said:Which promotion was that, can you remember?
I was looking at the Leicester admission prices and it's just a £3 reduction for students at £14 and in a city with 2 universities there is no mention of Speedway on the student union website. They should be looking at students for a fiver and get the rest in bar takings. During term time get the Speedway done by 8:30pm and get a local upcoming band on for the 2nd half like they do at the horse racing.
Maybe they think that there's no long term gain as once a student has done their course they move back home and stop coming to Leicester.
And this is not just a Leicester thing, no club in the country does this kind of thing as far as I'm aware.
Unfortunately it in a lot of cases it all seems like it's too much trouble to go to.
No they wouldn't because the bar is on a lease and is not run by the club!

Start on time
Get the 2 minutes on as soon as the last rider from the preceding race has gone through the pit gate
Only have grading and watering after hts 4,8, and 12 then 10-15 minutes after ht15
Obviously any major crashes could affect the smooth efficient running
One of the biggest problems British speedway faces is the we can't do that and that won't work attitude,
There needs to be more than 15mins to repair the track after the first meeting.

7 hours ago, old bob at herne bay said:I think that some firm cut off time for postponements due to weather is needed.
So meetings cannot be called off before say 1000 on the morning of the meeting..... with promoters needing to seek authorisation from the BSPL before being allowed to cancel. Each team should then be awarded one league point.
For other reason cancellations, home teams should forfeit all league points, the away team being given 3 league points.
So what about the peop[le travelling hundreds of miles? There are groups of fans who travel on a regular basis but they wont if your idea is implemented.

On my own fine with the family expensive. With the demise of Greyhounds stadiums will be glad of the income. Birmingham operated a dictatorial policy regarding the Grandstand with security guards now you just pay a quid. How times have changed I really feel for the promoter he's inherited years of mismanagement. Families just don't have the disposable income with rents of £500 per month there can't be much left.
I disagree!

13 hours ago, Pieman72 said:Superb synopsis. I think the promoters need to get a grip and run tracks on a sensible evening with riders that are affordable else a vicious circle ensues.
As I have said elsewhere, some promotiobns have no choice as they dont own the stadiums.

17 hours ago, Pieman72 said:They chose this route and it isn't working that's why they are closing, six teams in the Premiership is not viable. Spectators do not want to watch speedway midweek unless your an anorak.
I said that because a lot of clubs don't own the stadiums!

56 minutes ago, Pieman72 said:Too expensive, too boring, too many costly foreign riders, too many anoraks and too many midweek meetings. Couldn't agree more. Greedy riders and promoters expecting a couple to split with £45+ on windswept Monday night.....get real.
