First visit to Leicester tonight ,really nice set up but how slick is the track unbelievable. We went not expecting a win and to be fair early on was a gaters paradise here’s my assessment of the riders

    Danny King. excellent guest

Simon Lambert missed the gate on first two rides but all effort

Theo Pyper hated the place and you could tell

Tero Aarnio expected a bit more from him tonight to be fair

Tommy Jorgensen again one of our better riders on the night

Macca  all effort and signs of a revival after these two meetings

Jordan Palin a poor night to be fair and looked like he didn’t like the track

Now I won’t be over critical as this riders have balls to race for our entertainment and I respect them ,plus it will take  a very good side to go to Leicester and take something this year .
Let’s all be thankful to be racing this season and we go again Wednesday at Birmingham one last point not impressed with the tractor racing the water bowser every 3 to 4 heats really prolonged the meeting , so tapes up again this week and support our boys as good as we can , just think what Kent’s fans think of there efforts this last week

Did you want the track to get dustier and dustier as the meeting went on then?

Thanks for your comments, it's good to have a fair a reasonable debate and I totally take on board what you're saying about covid retrictions etc. Not knowing exactly what's going on behind the scenes I'm not fully aware of what the extra issues are with putting a match on. And I thank you for your invitation to club social events but I like many punters just want to pay my £17 have a good evenings entertainment watching my team win, lose or draw.

I make my comments on here and often seem to be stonewalled by seeming club "insiders" telling me that if I did want to see the league trophy paraded I should have gone to watch a cubs match, attended the end of season do or gone to a darts match and that because I didn't I've missed my chance and that the team that won that championship has been disbanded now so tough. I'm told that the riders didn't do a lap of victory after the Scunny match because they wanted to go home because they were at Newcastle the next day and it looked like it was going to rain... Come on!

I've been following Leicester since the late 70's so I'm pretty hardened to being taking for granted by Speedway promotions by now, it's just that these things are easy wins at little or no cost and imo go a long way to building up a relationship and rapport with fans. If I'm honest, like I said I was at Glasgow on the night and have seen the trophy but I know the vast majority of fans probably haven't and it's not like we're habitual winners lol

I just want to see Leicester Speedway thrive and for the place to be packed with fans and for it to be around for many years to come

Are the trophies still at Leicester?

That's what I am referring to yes, do they mean it'll be easier for property developers to build on stadiums sties or more difficult... what's the general gist of it, do you know?

They are concentrating on Brown Field sites if the regs get the go ahead but after the Lim Dems victory at Chesham, some tory MPs are after rebelling against the bill!.

Do the new planning regs effect the situation at Cov at all? If I'm honest I don't really know what the regs are about... but a lot of people seem to be getting their knickers in a twist about it

If you mean the new regulations government are talking about, they have not been passed by parliament yet.

Indeed  that is a possibility. But it will be himself that he'll put at risk first.  He's still young and I remember the promise he showed when I first saw him a Coventry. I don't want to see another rider lost to the sport. Support rather than criticism is clearly required.

Back to the track. It was one of the dustiest I've seen for a long time. It needed more water than it was given - even during the meeting. I know track prep   can be difficult but weather conditions were not changeable or difficult to predict. Leicester simply got it wrong on this occasion.

It was watered thoroughly before the meeting: I saw it being done.

The sad fact is that all the tracks mentioned have closed because not enough people are/have been interested in the sport arguably since the early 1980’s. You must have very deep pockets to consider being a speedway promoter in the UK and that was before the current restrictions.

Not necessary, some such as Blackbird Road closed because the stadium owners sold the club down the river.

Actually, looking on the Leicester website, entry is by online ticket purchase only, so there's no choice the stated £17 is actually £18. I bought my rained off Leicester vs Edinbugh ticket using the old booking system so actually saved myself 50p... 1p cheaper than Scunny lol

I have booked my ticket for the Scunny match at Leicester and have not been charged admin!!

Its a good point Cityrebel makes about the curfew and rain on the night but all in all this makes me very uncomfortable.

Last Tuesday I was Walderslade (one junction away from the track) there were brief showers but the heavy rain never arrived but of course the damage could have been done.

But here we are a week on and (against Eastbourne) with an even earlier call off and the forecast shows no rain today.

I don't want to travel and the match to be postponed and of course paramount is rider safety but I don't think speedway can continue to be regarded as a serious sport if matches are called off at the drop of a hat. If it is dry today,  I don't believe that with 8 hours to work on the track it cant make it raceable.

I worry that the real reason is the general lethargy in the sport.

But I do agree wet days are often not an easy call to make and indeed you cant please all of the people.

    Cheers

See also the following regulation, noting 010.5.p with reference to Leicester's team line-up (Jamie Halder was not in Leicester's final team declaration for 2019).

    010.5 FACILITIES
No facility is permitted to replace a rider, who although included in a redeclaration
has not made an appearance for that team since being redeclared.
A team may utilise a facility to cover the absence of a rider(s) who is: -
    a) FIM World Speedway Championship and FIM World Long Track
    duty
    b) FIM Speedway of Nations duty
    c) FIME Speedway European Championship duty
    d) FIME U21 Championship duty
    e) engaged elsewhere at a BSPA shared or purchased meeting
    f) recalled in accordance with the FIM ISLB regulations
    g) injured whilst speedway racing, within 48 hours of the injury
occurring. If no evidence is available, a Medical Certificate must
be sent to the SCB; failure to do so will result in the mandatory
suspension of the riders SCB Registration for the next home
fixture. The Directors cannot overrule the suspension
    h) sick or carrying a non-speedway injury, the rider must immediately
inform the SCB and their club. A Medical Certificate must be
supplied to the SCB within 48 hours of the sickness/injury
occurring in which case the rider will receive a mandatory 7 days
suspension of his SCB Registration from the day of the first
    meeting missed
    i) suspended by the FIM, ACU, SCB or riders FMN
    j) in dispute with his club, provided that the circumstances have been
accepted by the BSPA Directors who will determine the facility and
    period of the riders inactivity
    k) retiring during the current season a facility will be granted for a
period of 28 days. After which the team must re-apply for a further
28 day facility outlining the steps they have taken to find a
replacement. An extension up to 28 days may be granted at the
BSPA Directors discretion. In these circumstances a rider cannot return to ride for any club
within 28 days, effective from the date of notification to the SCB
    l) a Championship rider who’s own FMN does not have a current
agreement with the BSPA and is competing in another FMN’s
National, League or Open Meeting. This will result in the riders
SCB Registration being suspended for one (1) season and the
riders team will be automatically granted a facility for a maximum
period of 28 days, after which that team must re-declare
    m) awaiting medical clearance for the riders FMN
    n) NDL only: absent for any other reason - applicable to riders 18
years old and under, providing 3 days’ notice is given
    o) a rider with an assessed MA
    p) has been approved in a teams declared 1-7 at the start of the
season, a 28 day facility may be granted at the BSPA Directors
discretion. In the NDL this only applies if the rider was in that
teams 1-7 at the close of the previous season.

Whats 2019 got to do with it?

The figures given for attendances at football matches have nothing to do with how many people are in the stadium.. Many times teams like Arsenal have quoted figures as a full house yet you can see it is not three-quarters full as many clubs include season ticket holders whether they go to the match or not.

Thats because they already have the money from the Season Ticket Holders for that match!

  11. 22 hours ago, Fromafar said:

Personally I think online sales only will effect attendances.Whilst I realise it may be necessary when attendances are limited, I feel Clubs have to get back to pay at the gate as quick as possible when allowed.Another downside is how many Online sites are also charging a booking fee,not much be said about that, but you can bet it will be happening in some cases.

    Leicester at 50p!

I will start by saying thanks for the update on the website. However, there is a lot more information I (and presumably many others) would like.

Information about admission to the other leagues.

Will advance ticketing be the only way to gain admission.

    What are the prices.

Will there be a surcharge for Paypal or something similar.

Will the situation change on 21st June (assuming lockdown easing goes to plan).

Do you need to print your own tickets ( I assume I may not be the only speedway currently without access to a working printer).

What is the situation regarding any post ponements?

If you go to the Leicesterspeedway website, you can see what they are doing.

I wouldn’t think any Speedway fans who want to visit Leicester will have any issues in getting tickets for meetings with the stadium capacity over 3,500.

The first meeting will be very busy so that is only one that may be an exception to the above. The biggest issue I can foresee is that casual fan who wants to just turn up on a nice summer night but can no longer do this as will have to have purchased their ticket online beforehand.

Tosh1218- There was some lower crowds but over the season was over 1,500 including season ticket holder’s

I thought that the capacity was 4500 hen it opened.

Do we know if all speedway in this country has been classed as an 'elite sport'?

In cricket, Australian Billy Stanlake has been in a bubble and arrived in England on Sunday to play for Derbyshire but has been told he has to quarantine because the County Championship isn't an elite sport. If they had a T20 fixture though he would be allowed to play because that is classed as an elite sport!

So potentially we could have the Premiership classed as elite but not the Championship or NDL. Any cup/challenge/individual meetings might not be either.

Nick Morris and Ryan Douglas are having to quarantine!

I think capacity is around 4,500. I vaguely remember they claimed that figure attended the re-opening meeting in 2011, and it did seem pretty full.

There are details of prices and Covid details on the Leicester speedway website. The capacity has been confirmed as 50% and the spectator areas are sectioned off. Masks are not mandatory except in toilets or when purchasing food!

With the start of the season now a little over a month away have any clubs released plans surrounding that actual attendance of a meeting?

I assume I won't be turning up to the turnstiles at 19:25, handing over my cash and heading off directly to where I always stand?

I've just read on the Leicester website that Stewart Dickson is "happy with the reduced capacity we are being advised on", well I'm happy for him, what I don't know is what this means for me and other fans. Are matches going to be all ticket affairs, should I travel to an away match on the off chance of being let in. If it is all ticket how do I get a ticket, what if I don't have the internet (obviously as I've posted this I do but some won't).

Is each club devising their own systems or are the governing body issuing guidelines?

    Anybody have any ideas?

Leicester have told me that entry by prepaid ticket is going to be the method used. They are in discussions with LCC about other details.
