Ipswich had two guests and are now 18 points ahead.

A much larger margin than Lublin managed over "guest less" Wroclaw...

And Belle Vue still have a chance . Wroclaw have no chance and never did .. hence why Lublin are still 1 -20 to win the title . Maybe if they lose thou  they might get another chance as a lucky loser lol

I thought that was what they did....:D

Lets be honest, they spend all the qualifying matches during the season running it in a Mickey Mouse way, so why not just carry this on during the play offs..

Fair play to them for that...

You only have to see the comments on the other semi threads about Ipswich maybe using Fricke on Monday rather then Harris as he is better at the NSS to see how ludicrous it all is, and how fans just accept such nonsense...

Poland ran their first leg of their final with two top riders missing from one team, with no guests, and had s closer result than the UK did with two...

They also had a packed stadium, major sponsors involved, big viewing figures, and will have big financial rewards for whoever wins..

I wonder what the difference is?:D

They had a rule in Poland called lucky loser . worse rule than any in uk speedway that rule was just pure comedy .. Speedway rules are just as stupid in Poland .For how poor speedway is run in the uk the rules have little effect on why Poland have bigger  crowd levels etc than the uk .

Guests are much better than having to bring in People like Conor Mountain etc for the top riders like have in Poland and having a final when one side ended up being 1-25 on to win the final in a two horse race .

    That's the bottom line.

I think guests, R/R and doubling help don't help though. My wife's grandad no longer goes to Belle Vue regularly for a number of reasons but if you ask him why the first reason he will come out with is the lack of a team identity. I know on the odd occasions

I remember someone the same kind of thing about the Swindon side a few years ago. the problem was when you looked at the stats Swindon had one of the best in their History for having the  same 7 out each week  I think since we gone to Monday - Thursday I think it's been really good in terms of teams having there normal  1 to 7..of course we have a band of people  who just pan British Speedway no matter what so just tend ignore that .

The sport was massive due to the individual comps going out on one of just three channels throughout the summer on TV..

Tens of millions literally watched it...

Then turned up at the tracks to watch those riders..

And in those days when PC was "somewhere else" (with Larry Ross, Pete Smith, John Titman, or Martin Ashby), replacing him, you found out when you were there, not on the internet a couple of days before...

    A completely different time...

    Time, which has moved on...

    Speedway (n the UK) hasn't..

"But guests are a necessary evil"...

    "Dribble, Dribble"....:D

    .

Surely being on TV made things worst..After all these people would have seen these dreaded Guest riders and then turn  off the TV and never gone to speedway again . Not sure why you would go to your local  track in the first place  unless people were really bother by guest riders of course.lol

Out of interest how many guests were permitted back in the day? I started going in the the early eighties and I can remember guests for number ones while everything else was covered by R/R and juniors.

I could stomach that, it's when teams have been running with three, four and sometimes five riders borrowed from other teams that it gets silly.

Cant remember a limit....you also had unlimited  ts if 6 points behind lol..and the crowds were packed..The sport in terms of Mickey Mouse is the same as it ever was when the sport was massive..People over state the importance.. Its pretty simple with speedway..As the teams have weaken so have the crowds. .

    Then it should...

    Simple, straight forward, and clear...

    Not ambiguous, not subjective...

Reading that then two different "track ringers" could be brought in...

Its nonsense using guests anyway if you ever want the sport to be ever taken seriously, but at least they should try and make it as least Mickey Mouse as is possible...

The sport was massive with guests years ago..the sport was taken seriously. then. People caring about guests is completely over stated.

Yes, I listened to it again this morning and he did indeed say at least £1m a year is invested into British Speedway by Eurosport. Whether that means the clubs get to see the readies or not i don't know.

This makes me think quite differently about the value of Eurosport to our sport, it is quite clearly still very valuable. It may not be the top notch coverage that the speedway purist may want (but then what ever is?) but it is still a very valuable income stream to the sport.

Makes you wonder what Sky Sports & BT Sport were paying and where on earth they spaffed all the money?

I think most of it when into Terry Russell pockets

Love how up bums himself up about his involvement of Bristol speedway as being 'most successful speedway track of the modern era'

Didnt Bristol close in the 70's?  As in 50 years ago?  Guess I can claim to be 'young' then by his standards lol

Yes .he forgot to say  he sold the site to IKEA lol  ..Pure comedy

  9. Not sure if this smart or dumb..but clearly Bet 365 don't know the first leg had been called off and still had ippo at 8 -1 for the play offs..I've taken that with the rain about hoping Doyle might be fit.by the time they race again.     Just looked 9-2 now..Happy days

Polish speedway is a squad sport & everyone know that. If you have injuries then they have to be covered by members of your squad. No different to any other professional team sport.

While it massively weakens Wrocław a squad system is much better than what we have in the UK, where the regulations are so open to interpretation you could fly a 747 though the holes.

Since when was Connor Bailey member of the Squad ? Since yesterday lol

  11. This is so funny ..You get to the final and you have to used Connor Bailey for the likes of Woofy and Magic . This final is a complete joke and has made the rest of the season a waste of time..its amazing people just ignore the crap rules in Polish speedway when be jumping  upon anything crap rule  in UK speedway..The biggest laugh is trying to make out this is  going to be close . Watch out Bart Connor Bailey is  next to you on the grid..
