    Some of you fail to realise that this is what the youth of today are like. I'm 25 and I went out last weekend and got drunk out of my tree on friday, saturday and sunday, despite having work monday morning. Are you all going to have a go at me because of it?

     

    Just because Darcy is in the public eye doesn't mean he is denied his rights to live his life how he wants to. He's just a target for the media, given his track record (no pun intended)

    are you a role model for others?

    are you a professional sportsman?

    does it matter what you do?

     

    if you go out friday saturday sunday and get drunk thats up to you.

    pretty boring life if you ask me

     

    cant get my head around this way of thinking.

     

    it happens in most towns thats the youth of today.

     

    ok so be it does it make it right? personally if you want to go out drinking brawling and urinating in the street up to you. more reason why this country has gone downhill.

     

    if your life is about going out getting drunk 3 -4 nights out of 7 then go waste your life.

     

    why cant people see that THESE ARE WELL PAID PROFESSIONAL SPORTSMAN. ROLE MODELS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    If this was hancock, hampel and crump nothing would be said .

     

    If it was that serious, ward would of been locked up. Police in poland are a lot stricter than here and would lock him up if he was that bad. He hasnt been arrested so as usual the media blow it out of proportion.

     

    I am a regular on the british club scene i go out every weekend and see people pissing all overthe place, ive even seen a girl hiding behind a taxi pissing in bristol whilst four coppers stand there laughing, ive seen mass brawls involving half of newport, ive seen bouncers getting smashed with bats in newquay, i see all sorts every weekend and what ward has been accused of doing amounts to sod all, unless you people go out and see what the vast majority of people behave like in nightclubs these days then i cant take your posts seriously. And thats not being sarcastic either, im being serious

     

    Town and city centres in the uk these days are absolute carnage

    well if you think its acceptable then thats your view. personally i think its disgusting behaviour and shows you what is wrong with our country really doesnt it. remember the riots in london? this is called anarchy basically.

     

    nothing would have been said ifit was hancock hampel or crump because they would never have done it!!!!!

    Ward wasnt really involved this time but yet again his name is there linked in. he needs someone to grab hold of him and quick otherwise he could throw his whole career away.

    Holder i thought would have known better

    Batchelor is a clown full stop.

     

    If you think that because this 'stuff goes on in city centres' means we should accept it then i feel that is the wrong attitude.

    For those of you who think its ok for anybody to get drunk in a bar or club to a point that they get thrown out or fighting then i suggest you live in a different culture to myself as i find it appalling behaviour and if my son was involved i would be extremely disappointed.

     

    Now moving on to the fact that these were professional sportsmen make it all the more wrong. Between March and October these guys need to be on top form both physically and mentally is that to much to ask?

     

    Yet again its the young aussies involved. batchelor i can understand as he always been a bit of a pillock but Holder i thought had grown up and moved on. he is World Champion he needs to set an example. could never see Hans or Rickardsson and the like behaving like this.

     

    Darcy is Darcy. He will probably fritter away his career as he gets caught up in everything all the time. he wasnt to blame in this instance but yet again he was there.

     

    Its ok though because they are young !!!!!!!!!

    Thought it was a good not great gp.

     

    Darcy best rider on show. But because he is inclined to miss the odd gate plus his over eagerness ( see semi final) means he has still a bit to learn about the gp's. However i can not really see him having a shocker and he will be bang there at the end of the season.

     

    Did Holder look hungry for it? Maybe but he doesnt like the track and i think he to will be there or thereabouts.

    Hampel for me sort of passed under the radar a bit but got a win and pleased he is in.

     

    Tai was fantastic proved me totally wrong and just hope he keeps it up.

     

    Emil was disappointing but reckon we could see a different rider in Poland next time up.

     

    Someone said it was disappointing to see the old guard Gollob, Hancock and Nicki in the final but to me just shows how great these 3 guys are. In particular Nicki, who i dont have much time for, basically looked the slowest rider all night. either last or looking likely to be passed yet still made the final. Thats what Ward needs to learn.

     

    In my view Darcy can win this world title just needs to curb his enthusiasm. im sure he would have been second in the semi if he had picked his moment to pass rather than just charge but hey its good to watch

    can we go a bit more overboard about Darcy? he won a meeting he should win against guys who have seen better days.

    if he wants to be a gp challenger he should win meetings like this.

    fair play to him stepping in at last minute for 'sicknote' Nicki

     

    congrats to freddie a true servent to british speedway and wolves fully deserving of a testimonial

    shant be saying the same thing when Kasprzak has his!!

    He was asked for his opinion and gave it dunno why his is any less valid than anyone else.

    This Poole nonsense has gone on far too long.

    So Ward is a worthless scroat but he is a damn good speedway rider.

    I would not put it past him to be in the top two and Holder to repeat last years feat.

    The old guard will have something to say about that I am sure but it's good to see the young turks in the mix.

    Should be interesting.

     

    because its not opinion from him. he is biased and cant see past the end of his poole nose. it is possible they could be 1-2 and yes Darcy is a future champion but just think he will need a year to get it right.

     

    notice how shovlar mentions no other riders but the poole boys? he has probably got kk and lindback as 3rd and 4th and then isnt sure who else is racing

    Your point was you thought no rider had retained a world title since penhall which in fact proved to be wrong as a least two riders have done it.

     

    Why would i want to research riders from the 80s? I wasnt even born until 89 so have little interest in riders from a past era that i wasnt around to watch. Know they were good riders and good on them but it really is irrelevent.

     

    Quite what Holder possibly retaining a title has to do with bruce penhall and erik gundersen who raced in a different era under a different format, i do not know

     

    why get involved? sidney admitted his mistake so move on!

    when we all slating Matt Ford for his blatant rule bending how quick you were to defend.

    every season somehow poole speedway drag speedways name through the gutter

     

    if i was holder i would get as far away from ward as possible.

    Poole 1-2 IMO. Either could win it.

    yes they could be 1-2. will they? doubt it. Ward will find life far tougher than he can imagine, Holder can gate. Its ok Darcy flying past average riders in our elite league but lets see how easy it is to get past the Nickis and Gollobs of this world. im not saying he cant do it as he is a sensational rider. Can see him over riding trying to hard as well. Top 6 would be a good start for Darcy and build from there. A future world champ if he cuts out all the off track shenanigans!!

    if you read what i wrote i said people 'like pinstripe' who assume its anti poole. im getting that in first before there are the moronic poole fans like shovlar saying that im sayin all this because he rides for Poole.

     

    i was using Lindgren as an example of a deserving rider

    and i said that if kk should have one then so should Lindback along the fact he has been an asset for a while. never once said that anyone other than me said these things.

     

    i will stand by what i said kk does not deserve a testimonial either for services to one club or services to british speedway. again that is my opinion but im using Lindgren and Lindback as support thats all.

     

    If KK gets one than i hope its a good turn out with good safe racing im not against these guys earning money for what they do.

     

    Mark Loram never had a testimonial and he never stayed at one club to long but his services to the sport here was immense. We only gave him a farewell meeting once he had retired

    im all for a rider getting decent support on the day as they risk a lot for us the paying public.

     

    as was asked "do i think kk deserves a testimonial" my answer is no, thats my opinion.

     

    i just get sick of people like pinstripe who assume its an anti poole thing all the time. its not and neither is it anything against kasprzak who seems to be a nice guy, good rider, isnt dirty.

     

    i still satnd by what i said that to many are given out.

    You really are just trying to make an argument out of nothing.

     

    Where has anyone stated Lindback is due a testimonial?

     

    I am under the impression these meetings are given for 10 , 20 or 30 years to British Speedway. KK has done ten.

     

    Where have I stated that KK is more deserving of one than Lindgren? Lindgren is having his as well, so whats the fuss?

     

    KK is one of a few top class Poles who have always shown a willingness to ride in this country.

     

    There are plenty of riders down the years who have had testimonials without committing to the same club for the said amount of time.

     

    It seems you are just trying to make an argument but as per usual your theory holds no water.

    poole forum some people have said is he deserving of one

    my argument is no he doesnt. he is a nice guy its not against him or poole

     

    always shown a willingness? very questionable

    he has flitted in and out for 10 years

     

    if you dont like opinion then why come on a forum.

     

    i dont believe he has shown commitment to british speedway in the last 10 years to warrant a testimonial

    Hey, it isn't mandatory to attend. If you don't agree with it then don't turn up. You wont be missed.

    Matt wants to put on a testimonial, KK agrees, a good booking of riders & a couple thousand fans turn up, we all have a good evening.

    Also if Matt wanted to put on a testimonial for Anton, why shouldn't he? He can put on a testimonial for Gordon the Tramp if he wants to.

     

    i wont be going but thats not because of who it is just where it is, to far for me.

     

    i stick by what i say. testimonials used to be 10 years service to one club but now more like 10 years to british speedway thats fine.

     

    but still if you think kk or lindback are deserving then so be it.

     

    just had a thought im an ipswich fan so surely we should have 1 for Gollob and Hampel?

    Whilst I don't agree with the current rules on qualification for a testimonial, I nevertheless feel that any rider who risks their life (eg. Argentina today!!) everytime they go out on a speedway bike and who is granted a testimonial, should be properly supported!

     

    im not talking about the guys risking life and limb, we are all grateful to these guys for the shows they put on everytime they endanger themselves to entertain us.

     

    i think it is irrelevent to this though. i am just saying to many testimonials handed out thats all

    Well no because Lindback hasnt raced in the UK since 2007 and hasnt shown any interest in it since.

     

    as i said due one soon. sorry just think testimonials are thrown round like confetti these days for riders who basically dont really deserve it.

     

    its not an anti poole thing or anti kasprzak

     

    if you think kk is deserving of a testimonial rather than say someone like Lindgren who has raced here for the same team for god knows how long and has continually been in the top 5 or so of the averages. im not Lindgrens biggest fan but i would rather see him have a bumper pay day then someone like kasprzak

    i know its not his fault but what you are saying is join a club in 2003 ride maybe 4 or 5 seasons out of 10 for 3 different clubs and then be granted a testimonial.

     

    Kasprzak is a good rider, nice bloke and its nothing against him at all.

     

    Just dont feel he deserves a testimonial and bumper pay day for his services either to British speedway or Poole.

     

    Surely Lindback should be due one soon by your reckoning

    im neither for or against it being moved around. just put it somewhere were it works! lets be honest how good were the british finals in the 80's and 90's at Brandon? They were fantastic days out with good racing. The stands were packed and it was always a great day out. when i used to go to it there were always 6 or 7 riders who could win with 2 or 3 good riders as spoilers. The trouble is at the moment the level of talent in England is poor. Omly 3 riders can win (scott, tai ,bomber) and the next group (Barker, King, Kennett) are far better than the rest as well.

     

    Basically have this meeting at Lynn or Pboro and you will not get good racing because of the class of field.

     

    The British Final is in decline because British Speedway is in decline

    is it a year to soon for Darcy? how will he cope with pressure?

     

    think if Lindback carries on where he left off he could be top 3. Hancock, Nicki and Gollob is it 1 season to much? Emil not really gone forward the last couple of years. Jonsson and Hampel may have reached there peak and potential.

     

    Vaculik to big at 66/1 for top 3 as well. KK, Zager, Iversen, Lindgren and Tai cant win it.

     

    As i said on another thread very very open year. If Holder fully fit will be thereabouts again. My top 3

     

    1. Holder

    2. Lindback

    3. Ward

    My take on it:

     

    He is British.

    He has no chance of making a gp final.

     

    He will finish 15th

     

    On top of that i hope i am proved wrong and he makes finals and finishes higher up.

     

    Is he better than Bomber? Maybe

    Does he have Bombers experiance? No

     

    This years field is far superior to last years. Put Bomber in this line up and he to would be 14th or 15th. just shows how bad we have become over the years.
