  1. Chris Louis told me a couple of years back he would not actually stop anyone from watching the practice days, it's just not an official event that's all. The way I see it, It's a case of the doors being open or not. They were open last year but conditions were too wet. The cafe stopped opening daily 2 or 3 years ago.

    I'm going weather permitting.

Whenever I've been to watch I've never failed yet.

  2. For anyone planning to go to P+P day on 18th I've popped along to the stadium and theres no sign of the cafe being open during the day on weekdays.

Couldn't find anyone to ask if it might be opening specially either.

I'd take a flask if you want a hot drink.

  3. Having read through most of this thread I feel that Peterborough having put together a more competitive team team this year are trying to shoot themselves through the foot.

I myself, although neither currently disabled or a BB holder i have recently suffered ill health and walking is not as easy as it used to be.

I have regularly been a visitor when the Witches come to town but now feel that with the managements lack of consideration for those less fortunate health wise that I won't bother this year!

It's not just BB holders that may not attend, there may well be others as well.

Let's hope a few more may be tempted along if the team is doing well to counteract the shortfall. No real speedway fan wants to see any team go out of business due to bad financial decisions!

  4. Pedersens gating was always his biggest asset and since that's declined a bit his only way past other riders is to take them out. Hence the reason he gets a lot of gyp from fans !

He may put a few bums on seats but his dirty riding style (polite version) is what generally makes him disliked by everyone whose team he doesn't ride for.

  5. Oh well, having had a couple of hours to mull this news over and without wishing to appear too negative I'm afraid I'm totally underwhelmed.

I am seriously hoping I'm wrong with what I'm about to say and I want to be eating humble pie but here goes.

A 44 year old long retired 'has been' at No1 , albeit a previous 3 times world champion does not inspire me to believe we will be at all competitive this season. Even he isn't confident of what he's capable of now.

Although it's great to see Drew signed up as a full Witch I'm not sure he's ready for the top league of British speedway, he struggled in the Championship last season, again I would love to be proved wrong.

Last year I quite enjoyed the Witches being written off as wooden spooners  by everyone but this year I think I'm going to be agreeing with them.

My enthusiasm for the coming season is seriously dented.

  6. Out of all the names mentioned on here there are certainly one or two that would not particularly impress me.

Let's put it this way, if it is Jason Crump, an ex world champion who retired 8 years ago then that's not my idea of exciting news.

    Smacks of desperation to me!

  7. I have to admit some positive news right now would be good, let's hope Chris can pull a magical rabbit out of the hat for us!

Its also going to be hard for whoever has the job of filling the reserve birth as I'm sure like myself everyone was looking forward to the enthusiasm of Mr Entertainer this coming season?

  8. I see they've announced the 'Meet the riders' night for March 18th. Shouldn't it be a 'Meet the ride we have actually signed so far night' ?

Times getting a bit short in reality and although tragically we lost one rider I for one would really like to know what the current situation is.

A couple of weeks ago CL said he would hopefully be in a position to give some news within a fortnight, maybe he's just waiting for some paperwork or possibly  till after Danny's funeral on Friday?

5,000 would be a great turnout plus with all the online donations etc.

What usually happens with these meetings that over time they tend to be less supported, not because of what the cause is about or who its for, but they just tend to dwindle, and Danny doesn't deserve that - he deserves a one-off showpiece event with a packed crowd, I am sure the money raised will be a big amount.

Do they still have the mini track at Mildenhall? Not been in years but will be doing everything to get to this meeting. think 1989/90 may have been the last time i went

I'm sure a very good crowd will attend this meeting, if it's anywhere near 5K the place will be heaving and its facilities will be pushed to the limit.

I hope its the case though, the more money raised for Danny's family the better, when I met Jodie I thought she was a lovely person and deserves all the help she can get at this time.

( Mildenhall doesn't have a mini trackany more, the centre green was raised and grassed over a while back )

  10. After a bit of digging I saw a figure of 8k mentioned on an old Dog racing website but I think that might be rather optimistic, I'd think maybe 5k if all the grass banking was filled.

Just an opinion though having seen what a few hundred looks like on the many occasions I've been there.

  11. Well, another week of silence goes by.

Is it the classic case of no news is good news or do we not have a 7th rider yet?

It may just be a paperwork issue of some kind but we normally have confirmation by this time of the year!

Come on Chris, it's time to tell?

  12. Considering they are selling season tickets at the stadium this Saturday it would be nice to know who we are going to be paying to watch next year !

I've always held back on buying one because they were not transferable and without fail I have to miss a couple of meetings a season. At least that's changed now but I want to know the team before I part with my hard earned cash.

  13. Observations overall

Swindon 1 to 7 definitely a strong team ( stronger than the Witches ) and have come into the final in great form and fully deserved their victory , I'm sure they will be crowned Champions come Thursday !

People have commented that the Robins wanted it more tonight , that's simply not the case  ,  they were just better !

Obviously I'm disappointed as a Witches fan but I certainly can't complain about our season , predicted wooden spoon team makes the final , I'm happy with that .

    Back to tonight though -

Witches can't gate , mostly whoever got out first generally won the heat hence only 4 heat winners in 15 races tells the story .

When races were rerun Swindon always ended up winning them which didn't help our cause ( prime example heat 1 )

A few jump starts not pulled back and also IMO a couple of questionable decisions certainly didn't do the Witches any favours ,  no point in going into details as certain people will argue that black is white when it's not and it's all about opinions at the end of the day .

I believe that Swindon would probably still have won even if the decisions  had  have gone our way but that's just the way it goes sometimes .

Anyway I'm a big enough man to accept defeat to a deserving better team .
