    Leicester V Poole Elb. 20/08/16

I think the decision to call it off was influenced by the Leicester v Arsenal game being a 5.30 kick -off & on the TV. I know the speedway was put back to 8.00pm, but the attendance would have still been affected, & it seems at the minute money is more important than running against an under strength Poole, when we might have stood half a chance. Like you say it's been dry all day apart from a couple of light showers, which didn't even wet the pavements & with that strong wind i'm sure the track would have been fine, maybe even needing a bit of a watering.

I thought riders at NO.2 & 4 could only be replaced with R/R, not guests, so presume it will be R/R for Kurtz.

As Starke would be at no.4, I think it 'll have to be R/R, the same as when they rode at Belle Vue, when he was also absent. With Wozniak, Summers & both reserves able to take rides it probably strengthens Lions slightly.
  4. e-mail address for speedway is lions@leicester-speedway.com I don't know whether that goes through to Linda Jones, but she is the web administrator so I imagine she 'll get it.
  5. Someone asked about the whereabouts of their refund on the Lions facebook page 2 days ago, the reply given by a member of the Lions staff ( presumably Linda Jones as she is the website administrator), was " I was told all refunds have been sent out" . The advice given was to e-mail the club so they could check.
  6. Won't be a full Lions team, presume Lindgren will be at Workington with Newcastle.
  7. Lions having to replace Ludvig Lindgren, who's riding in Sweden. Todd Kurtz guests.
  8. Was the track watered earlier? If it was, that was surely a mistake. I saw the BBC forecast on TV at lunchtime & it showed that narrow band of rain directly over the area from about 4.00pm-7.00pm, admittedly it did say the rain would be light & patchy, which it wasn't. Surely if the track had been bone dry it would have absorbed the amount of rain we had fairly well.
  9. The track looked very wet & as Glynn went round on the JCB, even that was sliding when he went round the bends. I live about 5 miles from BP & we had a very heavy shower from about 5.00-5.30 pm, but the track normally takes water very well. Judging by how wet it was I wonder if it was watered earlier in the afternoon, maybe Glyn could come on & tell us. I think the forecast was for a light shower not the heavy one we had.

    Belle Vue V Leicester 15.07.16.

When the fixtures were announced at the beginning of the season, Lindgren & Summers weren't in the Lions team, so originally they would have only been missing Starke. Not ideal but in this case circumstances have made it unavoidable.
  11. Oh , ok I thought Lindgren( GP Qualiifer) was missing too.
  12. I'm guessing we might see Chris Harris riding for the opposition, for the 3rd home meeting on the trot. Summers will be riding for Glasgow, so will have to be R/R, but with Wozniak, Auty, Lindgren & Starke able to take his rides it shouldn't weaker Lions too much.
  13. After the failure of England to top their group at the Euros, their next match will now be next Monday at 8.00pm, which now clashes with Lions V Bees. Already running the fixture on a week day, which would have had an affect on the attendance, now with the football to contend with, it sees potentially the clubs biggest money making fixture of the season possibly attracting the lowest crowd of the season. Also people who volunteer, stewards, trackstaff etc. might now decide the football is a better option & there might not be enough staff to run the meeting.

Leicester V Coventry Mon 27th June

It does say that in the Mercury, but it was announced at last Saturday's meeting that it wasn't a SKY meeting. The SKY meeting for Monday is the premier league clash between Berwick & Workington. Unless there 's been a change by SKY, but there's nothing mentioned about a change on the Berwick / Workington thread in the premier league section.

    Wolverhampton 2016

Surely it takes both teams to agree on the date of a fixture before the season starts. If teams don't look at the international fixtures that are happening on a particular date that's surely bad management on their part, if they think they might have riders missing don't arrange a fixture on that date. It sometimes an advantage to not track a particular rider at a track they don't like, I think Belle Vue are quite happy that Zagar was missing at Leicester for example 17 points from 14 rides,(including ELRC) is his record at BP, so using Chris Harris as a guest was an advantage to them. The same thing happened last season, Lakeside had 4 riders missing & turned up with a team of track specialists for I think their only away win.
  17. If there is an MDL match, as there was last night, they always run 2 heats of that straight after heat 15, then do interviews with team managers, riders etc. , but I don't know whether that consists of a victory parade as well, as I disappear after heat 15. That as been the procedure this season, not sure if they have a victory parade if Lions win, I can't remember that far back!
  18. Maybe someone should have mentioned this to the Lions management, or is DH being trying to attract a bigger crowd, when he said in his Mercury column " We welcome Belle Vue this Saturday . It is a chance to see GP star Matej Zagar ". Does anyone know who guests for Wozniak ? Just seen Garrity guests for Wozniak
  19. Teams: Lions 1. Hougaard 2.Klindt 3. Summers 4. Starke 5.Watt 6.Ludvig Lindgren 7.Auty Robins 1.Doyle 2. Grajczonek 3.Tungate 4. Morris 5. Sedgman 6.Wright 7.Nielsen. Seems a strange choice of guest at reserve for Lions, which certainly makes them weaker, can now see Robins gaining revenge for Thursday's defeat, especially if Tungate's shoulder injury flares up again after tonight's meeting at Somerset, thus giving them the opportunity to use R/R, which would see Doyle take 6 rides.

    Leicester Lions 2016

Interesting piece on the Leicester Mercury website tonight ( sorry don't know how to post link) . DH says he will appeal fine " on a number of grounds" including the "huge" fine."I feel the press release misrepresented me & is not an accurate statement of fact". He says "I hold my hands up to threatening and abusive language but there were reasons behind why that was the case. But I am not a liar"." The fine also needs to reflect the actual allegations that can be substantiated" . He goes on to say the fine will be paid one way or another & will have no impact on the future of the club. Also adding, that he told the SCB 3 weeks in advance he couldn't attend the hearing & gave them 3 alternative dates when he could attend.

    Leicester V Swindon 4/6/16

I was right next to the incident on bend 4. Summers who was leading started to go out of shape , Doyle laid down his bike because he thought Summers was going to fall, although he recovered & didn't go down, his actions caused the race to be stopped , so IMO the ref got the decision spot on.

    King's Lynn V Wolverhampton 2/6/16 7.30pm

Won't be Kurtz, he's guesting for Leicester at Swindon.
  24. Only King & possibly Garrity would make Lions stronger, Wozniak averages 7.71 at home from the no.4 position , at reserve he would have been excellent. Away from home, yes probably most of those with the exception of Bates & Sarjeant would have made Lions stronger. Anyway I wouldn't be surprised to see Walesek back, where his average will put him in the reserve position. A 40-odd year pole at reserve, just what the EDR system was bought in for !
  25. His polish club require him to practise on Saturdays & have withdrawn his start permission to ride in this country, for the foreseeable future.
