    Speedway Updates - Problems?

I've had the message appear for the last 2 days. If you click on the bit that says " more information" , it then opens up another bit that says " disregard and continue", which If you click on it lets you into the site as normal.
  2. Still dry at the moment, but cloudy. Had a few little spells of light drizzle during the day, but not enough to wet the pavements.
  3. You could well be right about the incident at the KL match when the ref switched the lights out by mistake, DH made a comment towards the ref & said " I suppose that will get me a fine". If that was the reason it looks like he got more than a fine. Hence the 4 week ban.
  4. The track remains a mystery, the last meeting against KL was excellent with passing in most races & easily the best EL meeting we seen, but tonight as other posters have said there were no passes after bend 2, lap1. Can't understand why? . Perhaps Glyn could tell why the track was so different tonight.
  5. Still showing as riding on Lions website. We'd certainly be stronger if he doesn't ride!
  6. The club has faced criticism from some on it's offer to LCFC fans for tonight's meeting, but they're at least trying to be pro-active in attracting new fans to the sport. It's no good getting the same old people attending but paying less, they need to attract new fans who will hopefully return, I know it will upset regular supporters ( i'm a Lions season ticket holder myself) , but surely we need to look at the bigger picture & get new people attending, because if not the club will die again & ultimately it will be another nail in the coffin for the sport.
  7. I think it's the fact that in the 5 years since Leicester re-opened you 've never said one good thing about the promoters, stadium, team, track etc. ( sometimes with justification ) . It does seem like you have a personnel vendetta against Leicester Speedway maybe you could tell us why ?
  8. I heard that conversation too, Mrs H. was certainly not a happy bunny, I wouldn't like to be the riders boots , she was on the warpath. But it was an excellent meeting with plenty of passing, it's a pity that wasn't the televised match instead of the Swindon meeting.

    Leicester V Belle Vue 09.04.16

The form of Walesak is really a mystery, last season at home I think he averaged close to 9 & although missed alot of meetings through injury, he was excellent. But now he doesn't seem interested, maybe he as mechanical issues, but if that was the case you would think the club would say so & ask for patience. If they are going to replace him I hope they go for a younger rider with a bit of fight & ambition rather than another has-been. Someone who as started the season well is Ryan Douglas & i'm sure would at least give 100%, the trouble is how many meetings would he miss. Also signing any Aussies you have the added problem of visas, it could take weeks before one is approved, which is also the case if they wanted to sign Summers. The other option I suppose is the shared D/U role like Lakeside have, in which case you could have Stead & one of Summers/ Douglas, admittedly none of which are world-beaters, but at least would give there all, which is more than we're getting at the minute.

I'm about 5 miles from track, light showers, paths are damp , but wouldn't have thought track would be affected too much.

As soon as the Belle Vue management knew the date of the Solvenian championship they must have been on the phone to the Lions requesting they visit the Lions on that date. Did Zagar complete a race last season at BP? They are stronger with Chris Harris riding, he's always excellent at BP. Then again Rolf Harris could be guesting and i'm sure they would still win !

I'm sure it was announced at the opening meeting that the sponsorship deal with Jordan Road Surfacing had come to an end & the stadium was now back to it's original name of Beaumont Park.

    Lakeside V Leicester 1st April

I'll be surprised if Lions get 30pts. And Adam Ellis to be there top-scorer.

    Lakeside 2016

What happens if the tier 1 reserve increases his average to say for example 6.00 and moves into the main body of the team & then misses a meeting through injury or a fixture clash, can he still only be replaced by another tier 1 rider or because he's in the main body of the team can he be replaced by any guest up to that average or R/R ? And if he can only be replaced by another tier 1 rider does that replacement have to be at reserve or does he assume the position in the team the rider he is replacing was due to ride at ? Does anyone know the answer ?

Has much as I like Stead, & yes he did very well last time he was with Lions, he is not really a heat-leader in the EL & currently if Leicester signed him he would be at NO. 1 with an average of 6.70. The nearest to him is Walasek on 5.91, so it's going to be a while before he drops enough to be a 2nd string, also him missing matches wouldn't help, although while he remained in a heat-leader position, a guest would be allowed. He started last season with Belle Vue as a heat-leader & I think he struggled before his injury,( if memory serves me right didn't he hardly score any in BV 's visit to Leicester & only took 3 rides). It would be a gamble taking him on after his terrible injury, & if he was going to ride at 2 or 4, probably one worth taking, but not as an heat-leader. Having said that though I can't think of many other alternatives & the season is getting nearer.

Interesting piece in the Leicester Mercury on-line edition concerning track alterations. Changes are being made to the bends & the new shape is being marked out by Glyn Taylor in readiness for the infield to be cut this week before the foundations & new shale are laid. Glyn says he hopes it will give riders more manoeuvrability when entering & exiting the bends. DH said it was in response to views of the supporters & hopes to see an increase in support. At least they've got the right man doing the alterations this time, lets hope he's left alone to do his way & we might see some improvement in the standard of racing next season.

There's a couple of post's on the Rye House thread saying that one of their rider's has withdrew from the team, after a story that appeared in the SS, Klindt is rumored to be favorite, so maybe he is Leicester bound & Phil The Ace wasn't joking after all !

I do hope you're joking. Just realised you are joking as he's at Rye House & that's a Saturday track. Phew !

    Wolverhampton 2016

I was always impressed with Masters last season at Leicester, he only struggled slightly when he returned from breaking his hand, but i'm sure he can add a point to his starting average. I only wish he was back at Leicester next season.

    Coventry 2016

A question for Neil Watson please. Leicester are advertising their season tickets as for 14 Elite league matches, a round of the youth championship & the East Midlands Bowl. The Bees package says nothing about the Bowl & because the Bees have the Elite Shield as the season opener, I would have thought it unlikely they are going to want to race Lions over 2 legs before the season starts as well. Can you confirm whether Coventry have any plans to compete against Lions for the Bowl next season. If it isn't run at the beginning of the season it's highly unlikely it will be fitted in at the end & we will have paid for a meeting on the season ticket that won't take place.

    Leicester Lions 2016

I have to agree with you & I think they will still be in the Elite league. But I would rather see a competitive team at Premier league level than watch a struggling team in the Elite league, because the best riders won't ride on Saturday evenings, we will always struggle to compete with the better teams.

The trouble is, getting a strong team is the the problem, as was shown this season when trying to replace Pedersen & Michelson. Norrie Allen said at the time, they had approached riders but because of them riding in Poland on Sundays no one was interested, and we ended up with Swiderski in a heat-leader position. The only solution to that is obviously to change to mid-week in a bid to try & get Jason to stay & to build a stronger team around him. but DH understandably seems reluctant to do that because of the effect on the attendances, but as you say a stronger team producing better results would produce better crowds but whether they would be big enough in mid-week to break even I don't know. I have a season ticket but if it was mid-week I wouldn't be able to go.But while they remain a Saturday night track I think they are n't going to attract the better riders & will always be one of the also-rans instead of pushing for a play-off place. The only other alternative is the one I'd like to see, a return to the premier league with saturday night racing, but to DH that would be admitting defeat & I can't see him doing that.
